  1. Normally starting hammer cocked with the safety on. However, what about unloaded starts on a table or barrel? I'm guessing you just put the mag in, rack the slide and engage the targets. I'm guessing that no safety is going to be involved in those scenarios. Correct?
  2. Pistol ran great.I went through 250 rounds of a mixture of ammo in 124 and 115 grain. Double action was accurate. Great pistol.
  3. Off to the range for the first shots.
  4. I understand that DA/SA pistols start hammer down in Production. However, some stages start with the pistol on a table or barrel with the loaded mags on the barrel. Once given the start, collect the extra mags and load and charge your pistol. Now, you are starting in single action. I assume you just go with it as opposed to trying to bring the hammer down or decock prior to firing. For those that shoot IDPA, same thing I presume?
  5. I decided to go with the SP-01. From what I read, the trigger reach may be a bit longer on the P-120. And the beaver tail may be a bit better on the CZ. Not a lot of differences though. A Tristar C100 may be in my future.
  6. Just looking for opinions between the two. No specific question. I can get either, so I guess the CZ is the way to go. If I don’t like it for some reason, it will probably hold more value for resale.
  7. OK, so my regular 15 rounders that came with the pistol will work and fit in the box? Right? In that case, I would only need to pick up one more 15 rounder.
  8. Didn’t know about this division until tonight. Been running SSP. Not real clear on the rules for CCP. My M&P is a 2.0 Compact with the 3.6” barrel. So, I’m good on barrel length and I’m pretty sure on weight. I have two of the 15 round double stack mags and 3 of the full size M&P 17 round mags with the spacer sleeves. I guess the height is what I’m not sure about and whether it fits the division requirements. As far as the mag requirements, can I load the 17 rounders with 8 and go shoot? I think I read you’re limited to 3 mags, two on you in pouches and one in the gun. With the first mag loaded to 8+1, you’re limited to 25 rounds in most cases. Finally, I read you can run an upgraded trigger (Apex) in this division. Is this just for internals or can you run the Apex flat trigger instead of the M&P curved/hinged trigger?
  9. Looking for a back-up competition pistol. I have a Shadow 2 on the way for USPSA. And I want to get something for IDPA which I don’t shoot as much. There is a $200 difference in price between the SP01 and the P120. I might shoot 6-7 IDPA local matches a year so this pistol would be a range gun as much as anything. And it would be my back-up to my Shadow 2 for USPSA. All of the reviews seem positive for the P120. I can get either one. And I will likely add sights, grips, and trigger work as long term projects for the pistol.
  10. In this case, the comparison is the Essentials rig with 2 extra pouches vs. the BSPS Boss/DAA rig which comes with 5. The price I quoted for the Essentials includes the cost of the 2 extra pouches. If the Essentials rig will work, then I’ll save $100. If the BSPS rig is clearly better due to the Boss hanger, then I’ll get it. Will probably purchase later this week as my Shadow 2 is due to arrive at my FFL in two days.
  11. Looking at picking up a new pistol for IDPA that would be a a backup for USPSA production. I just ordered a Shadow 2 for USPSA and will be ordering a belt/rig as well. Since I’ve blown the budget on those items, I’m looking to save for IDPA, especially since I don’t shoot it much. In the last week, I’ve been reading and watching videos of CZ clones and I like what I’m seeing on the Tristar pistols, especially the heavy steel frame P120. The reviews look good. Any reason to stay away from this model? Thinking that I can run it in SSP, or if the DA is really heavy, go cocked and locked and run SA in ESP?
  12. So far, I've competed with a regular belt and kydex belt holster. Running my Glock 17 and M&P 3.6 in Limited Minor and now Production. Everyone tells me to get a belt, but I decided to wait until I picked a competition pistol. Now, I've ordered a Shadow 2. I've looked at two complete rigs. One is $200 and should do the job. The other is $300 and should be better. The person I spoke with at Stoeger Pro Shop said that either would work but that the more expensive option is a stiffer belt, and the holster is more adjustable and firm, and that the Blade Tech holster option was his preference for a Shadow 2. Option 1 $197.95 - USPSA Essentials Holster, CR Speed Belt, and Mag Pouch Rig with two extra pouches added for Production Class - https://benstoegerproshop.com/uspsa-essentials-holster-belt-mag-pouch-rig/ Option 2 $302.95 - BSPS Boss DOH holster, Ghost mag pouches, and DAA belt with Blade Tech holster option https://benstoegerproshop.com/bsps-boss-doh-holster-5-x-ghost-magazine-pouches-double-alpha-academy-daa-belt-deal/ I don't know that either will make one bit of difference in my time or scores. But if option 2 is really that much better, let me know what you think....
  13. My local store has a 75 Shadow, however, it is from the Custom Shop which raises the price considerably. Priced at $1,309. Don’t know if that is a good price or not for the work done by CZ Customs.
  14. Would like to get your impression on trigger weight in DA and SA, accuracy and feel. More specifically, how do they compare on quick double taps similar to what you would do in competition.
  15. I do have smaller hands...... and I don’t shoot IDPA as much as USPSA, so.... maybe SP01 Shadow??? Local range/gun shop has two Shadow 2’s. A black and blue and an Urban Grey (don’t really care for the color or the finish wear). Both priced at $1,199. The trigger is much better on the Urban Grey than the Black and Blue, both in DA and SA. Can find them both cheaper online, but I’ve dry fired the two locally. I’m willing to pay more for the Urban Grey that has a good trigger even though I don’t like the color and finish wear. But, if the SP01 Shadow is better for smaller hands........
  16. Thanks, that helps. By the way, trying to figure out your screen name. Best wild guess, you’re now a RN who used to play LB. Though, I could be way off.
  17. Been leaning toward a Shadow 2, mainly because I’ve shot one. But, I see better deals on the SP01 Shadow. Is there really much difference between these 2? Can save maybe $200 on the SP01 Shadow and I can use it in IDPA, haven’t shot one though. I loved shooting the Shadow 2. Very accurate even while shooting double taps.
  18. After renting some CZ's recently, I've kind of lost interest in my lightweight, striker fired defensive pistols. I assume this happens to others?
  19. I didn’t test it, but is decocked double action lighter than a full double action? Or does it just reduce take-up a bit?
  20. Easy enough. I am not looking to be a top level competitor or even tops at my local club match. Middle to above average at my local club match would be a solid goal. I’m a D class shooter in Limited shooting Minor, so the next step is to make it to C. However, I will probably try Production at the next classifier. I would like (not need) a nice competition pistol just because. I’ve shot a couple of nice models and was more accurate than with my plastic defensive pistols. Competing gives me an excuse to buy a nicer pistol(s).
  21. Sidebar: seems like after every stage, you need to completely unload your mags before reloading. That way you don't have to remember if you shot 8 before dropping or 6, etc... This ensures you have 10 in every mag and 11 in your starter mag. Whereas in Limited, you just load it back until it's full.

    Shadow 2 MOS

What's the anticipated price point? I assume it will come in higher than the current Shadow 2?
  23. The DA on the CZ75 C was better than the DA on the Shadow 2. The SA on the Shadow 2 was better than the SA on the 75C. The Shadow 2 had a very heavy DA and a very light SA. No doubt about it from either end. It may not be supposed to work that way, but that’s how it felt. Both were stock pistols.

    Shadow 2 MOS

One of the RO’s at my local range/gun shop told me that there would be a MOS Shadow 2 coming soon from CZ Custom. This shop stocks CZ Custom pistols. From what I’ve read, there was talks of this in 2018, but it never happened.
  25. I’m classified in Limited. But if I decide to shoot Production, I’ll enter as U unclassified, for that division - correct?
