  1. For open I would only use 125gr, but for minor I was simply trying to experiment. I don't have experience with 115 in an open setup, only with 125 and I'm sort of used to that grain weight to be honest. At one time I tried 147gr from Everglades but they didn't even make PF once I chrono the ammo... Luckily, I was given 1k rounds free from a friend that didn't like them. I didn't feel any significant differences between the 125/147 besides a bit of slower cycle of the slide. IMO 125gr is a nice compromise for open but for minor many use 135/147, etc etc... Mainly 147
  2. I tried 135/147 for minor and the 135gr felt nice like a happy medium between 125/147gr bullets. Grant it that I didn't try them in my open setup so I can't comment. I did like the 135 though but again it all boils doing to personal preference. I have a buddy that states that 115gr tracks the dot better than 125gr on his Honcho open gun, but then again, I can't commnent since my only experience in open has been 125gr.. Dot tracking, recoil impulse, etc deals more with grip than anything else and it's also subjective
  3. I have the Everglades speed holster, and you need thigh pad to use it. I often get some minor swelling from using the thigh pad. I looked into this holster as an option but it simply looks too handmade. I'm sure it works though~ Would love to see one locally to try out
  4. I tested 3.6gr of SP with the CZ S2 platform and the PF was around 134/5 using 135gg BBL's~ Good stuff! 3.5 yield 131 PF
  5. I was fortunate enough to find a local guy selling a brand new commercial roll sizer so it was purchased since the deal was too sweet to pass up so now I have a roll sizer and about 30k pieces of 9mm brass to roll size in the future I will buy one headstamp fully process brass for shooting major but for minor mixed brass will do. Buying new brass just isn't cost effective IMO~
  6. Rollsizer is next in the future "purchase" program~ this game isn't cheap!
  7. I don't have a roll sizer, maybe in the future it would be best to purchase one but for now I've been known to encounter just a few piece of brass/ammo that don't pass case guage. I case gauge all of my ammo and I've loaded major/minor and thus far no issues. But I noticed one thing that speaks volumes of fully process brass works best in my press and passes case gauge 99.9% of the time. Buying fully process brass isn't cheap anymore~
  8. What kind of issues were you having with range brass?
  9. True, I have a friend that averaging almost .45/50 and that gets expensive
  10. Normally, I purchase once fired range brass, clean and processed but at times I also get some range brass, clean and inspect each casing before loading for major ammo. I don't have a rollsizer, but I resize my range brass multiple times, 2x times using my processing toolhead and 1x using my main loading tool head. Yes a bit overkill, but it has been working for me. For loading minor ammo I'm not very picky but I do clean my brass quite extensively to the point of ocd, wet tumble, media pins, the works. For those that shoot exclusively open pistols, do you prefer new brass or are you using range brass, processing it and loading it or purchasing fully process brass? There's a video from Atlas gun works, indicating that new brass is highly recommended but I don't own an Atlas but a Honcho~ Would like to know what's the consensus out there in the world of open shooters... Thanks~
  11. Gold dots or HST, end of story... These two brands have been tested, proven by most LE departments. Lehigh Defense is another decent brand, as well as Liberty Ammunition, Liberty offers lightweight ammunition that carries a lot of punch (kinetic energy) whatever you decide to purhcase/carry make sure you train with your ammo of choice.
  12. Thanks~ Unfortunately, everytime I hear that powder is out and I check the sites the powder is already gone
  13. If you could only find SP or N320 would be nice ~
  14. Thanks~ I need to do my own research but this helps a lot~! Thank you
  15. What powder were you using? Details, plz
  16. Great stuff, thanks brother....
  17. Yes, I'm using coated bullets... Blue Bullets to to be exact, I run at 1.130 OAL, and they run perfectfly fine in both of my CZ's and other platforms, I see you load your ammo to give you 135 PF, normally, I try to stay in the range of 130/1 PF, coated bullets tends to give you a bit more PF. I truly haven't noticed much changed in the summer weather with my ammo when I chrono, but then again, I haven't checked during trully hot summer days so thats my next experiment in the to do list for summer, test ammo during hot weather to document changes. A friend of mine was telling me that when he was using 135gr his point of aim and point of impact were slightly different than the 147gr, point of impact dropped. Have you experienced that anamoly? Thanks again~
  18. Using my S2, I'm getting 131 PF with 3.8 using 125gr... Thanks, I was thinking that it would require a lil bit less powder.... Very interesting!
