  1. Here's the bladetech large TMMS on the BOSS hanger. It is super stable and has worked perfectly for matches about every weekend since I put it on. You can buy the individual components of the BOSS at stoeger pro shop and save a few bucks since the y does not have to be used in this set up. After getting the new taccom caddies I switched them to large tmms too as it provided more rigid connection with their added size and weight.
  2. Has no one tried sticking a 510c on a KL-12? It looks like it will be a close fit on the front rail section, but I hope to make it work with a bit of grinding on the sight base if required once I take possession of my dissident in a month or so.
  3. Yes. I managed to get 4 friends into 3-Gun in 2019, 2 of whom had never shot a match of any kind before.
  4. Through the efforts and goodwill of a fellow 3-gunner, I was able to obtain the new comp pro lifter that beretta based on the mods of some innovative Brits. I also installed the new style bolt release/shell latch than I ran the shotgun through quite a bit of loading and some live fire drills to check function. I am very pleased with both parts, which were easy to install and tweak to my preferences. The new bolt release is much lower profile, which means it is well out of the way of my 2nd stack of shells in a strong hand quad. It still functions to unload the mag tube, though a bit differently than the original part. The lifter surpassed my expectations. I thought it would be cool but not improve loading that much. Turns out, for me at least, that not having to hold pressure down on the lifter greatly smooths quad loading. I think I finally have my loading port exactly how I want it. I have the match I run this saturday to try it out before a big falling steel match next weekend that I am shotgunning. Supposedly the new lifters will start being available in the US in the new year. Definately worth $70 or so.
  5. I've been using my Schmeisser a good bit for my home practice stages/drills and it has yet to have an issue. I needed a 60 rnd mag at a match last month and decided to actually vet this thing before I might need it again. I think I feel alright taking it to local matches at this point.
  6. The new latch still allows you to release the shells from the tube. You just pull up on the front of it instead of pushing down on the back. I have never had the "fatal flaw" double feed actually happen during regular use either, though I have practiced the fairly straightforward maneuver of clearing it quickly, just in case.
  7. Already installed it and contoured the latch for ease of shell insertion. It works great in 1301 comp. I don't have the lever cover yet, but I'd run it without the cover indefinitely anyway, it's that much better than the original part. Still waiting on a few more parts, but plan to put some pics and comments up here when it's all done.
  8. According to beretta European site the new pro trigger group fits previous 1301 models. http://estore.beretta.com/en-eu/3-0-inches-trigger-group-competition-pro-for-1301-a400-12-ga/ There seems to be some confusion on chamber size on some of these parts. Beretta site says somethings will "fit the Comp with 3.5" chamber", but the Comp has 3" chamber. Reckon I'll find out.
  9. Turns out you can get the new style bolt release/cartridge catch at Midwest Gun Works if you look under A400 parts. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/c8d464
  10. I just got a new phone so this was the best shot I had. I'm about to try a new caddy model that has a larger footprint than these delrin taccoms, so not sure 3 will be doable still.
  11. This morning I tried to get someone at beretta to tell me when the new lifter and bolt release would be available stateside but they had zero knowledge. My shell catch is worn out and letting shells by in the middle of my quad loads once in awhile, so i was ordering that anyway. Any euro gunner want to straw buy the new lifter and release and mail them to me?
  12. I run one caddy on my front right side for loading strong side with shotgun on my shoulder, and 2 caddies on my left side for loading quads weak hand. I think weak is generally faster and smoother, but sometimes its pretty handy to load strong side, shooting from a port for instance or moving from right to left with respect to 180.
  13. I reload the 77 grain smk over 24.8 grains TAC for long range 3 gun use, though that's not much here in Georgia. I do not bother reloading for inside of 300 yards as I don't have a progressive press for rifle and I'm already hard pressed to load enough 9mm for the whole family.
  14. I also use 55 grain bulk (fiocchi .223a since my rifle likes it and the primers aren't crimped) inside of 300 and a hand loaded 77 smk for 300+. I Zero the 55 grain for 100 yards and the 77 grain at 200, which let's the JM-1 reticle BDC marks line up for both rounds at 300, 400, 500.
  15. I have less in my 3 guns combined than I see many USPSA shooters spend on a single open or limited 2011, and my setup does not hold me back. Obviously there are people with 10k in their setup but that is hardly required!
  16. Well, I didn't intend to start a "poop on 3-gun and their stupid shotguns" thread, but apparently that is the only kind of thread we can have. I think we all realize we could ditch the shotgun and have 2-gun only matches, but then that wouldn't be THREE gun would it? Still, I think there are useful insights and ideas here, including the perspective from some actual 3-gunners that the shotgun did get out of hand for awhile. Most matches have dialed it back I believe. I agree PCC is pulling a few people away. I don't really buy the expense argument for why former 3-gunners aren't showing up as much, since ammo is much cheaper now. But if those who have burned out aren't being replaced by new shooters due to higher expense compared to other shooting sports than I do see that. Personally, I am fine with having 2-gun divisions withing 3-gun matches where 2-gunners just don't shoot shotgun only targets. As long as there's no overall scores posted, like with UML. I think UML is great and if it could expand a little faster it would help the sport a lot. If we could find a new way to reach the visibility that 3GN had, who knows what could happen.
  17. In Georgia there are four 3-gun club matches, 2 of which are quarterly (I design one of those) and 2 monthly. One is pretty advanced (A3g), one is super easy with hardly any shotgun at all, the other two are in between in difficulty and shotgunness. Attendance is down at all of them. So here at least I don't buy that's it's the difficulty or amount of shotgun causing the slow down. I go to all the matches, they are all different flavors. There's not a ton of crossover in the population of the matches, though I spend a lot of time encouraging folks to check the others out. I think a root cause of the recession is that a lot of the people who got into 3-gun during 3Gn have slowed way down or quit, and new folks aren't getting exposed to 3-gun as much anymore, causing a lack of new blood. That's at least part of it. And it seems like something that could be addressed creatively by avid 3-gunners and MDs.
  18. Again, I did not start this thread to hear from people who don't shoot 3-gun because they don't like shotguns. As CharlieD says above, Shotguns have gotten way easier to load over the years but 3-gun attendance has gone down, not up. Shotguns are not the topic of this thread.
  19. Thank you for your thoughts, Jack. We are really concerned here with why matches that used to be full every month of people who love loading shotguns are now not even half full. I don't think it's because those people stopped liking shotguns, but it certainly could be that not enough new people think they like shotgun. For the record, in my experience most people who think they won't like the shotgun aspect end up loving it after trying my shotgun. It takes basically no practice to load 2 in the gun at a time.
