  1. I bet its related to Ken's List being taken off practiscore. Enos classifieds is the only trustworthy game in town now. Hopefully some of these folks will find ways to actually contribute...
  2. Thats very similar to how I did mine, having been educated by Jon Axe. Is that the Hayes shop job? I clean mine every 400 rounds or so, or before any important match. It could go a lot longer, I know people who almost never clean their 1301s, but I'd rather have a lighter cleaning session more often than an all day affair once a year. Nothing real specific about the process, just clean and reoil the moving parts and gold portion of the tueb the recoil assembly rides on. Remove the the gas puck and clean all those parts real well. Do not oil those parts or areas. I use Hoppes Elite cleaner. Once in awhile I use a bronze brush on rod chucked into drill to polish up chamber, forcing cone, and chokes. If you use the briley diffusion choke (what I use 80% of the time) you need to drill brush the rifling in it or it stops working as well. The shells you use will also play a big factor. AAs are super clean, the Rio 1280 I mostly run in my 1301 not so much. Edit: Also, I replace the recoil spring about once a year and the mag tube spring about twice a year.
  3. I agree. It does make figuring out a 3-gun appropriate holster more challenging though. So best to figure out whether matches in your area feature much hot reholstering or physical challenges, or if race holsters are even allowed before committing to frame mount. I got creative with a NERD Urn to make frame mount work.
  4. I tried it for a one port comp Honcho. 5 grains under 124 grain plated was right around 130 pf. Takes 4.2 cleanshot to make 130. Ultimate load was perfectly fine but the clean shot is flatter, softer, and cleaner. But if I only had ultimate I'd use it happily.
  5. 510c is awesome for the KL-12. Giant window and you can run circle only reticle for go fast. Switch to circle dot when slugs are required. You do have Dremel a bit on the 510c base mount to fit perfectly on the dissident rail. Takes about 5 minutes.
  6. Adam makes a lot of good points. In my opinion the biggest advantage switching to Open from Tac ops is that your movement is the same regardless of which gun you are using. You no longer have to move with the shotgun (loading) in a completely different way from the other platforms. So working on your movement fundamentals pays huge dividends. I was pretty good at Tac Ops, but I spent most of my limited time practicing loading shotgun in all the various iterations and that hurt my other proficiencies. 2020 ProAm was my first match in full-on open and my first major match and I got 17th overall. Smoothing out the delta between the guns really worked for me. But it still takes practice, it's just easier to practice effectively across guns. I recently started shooting USPSA to really hone in on the movement work I do at my home range. And because in an options match open pistol is good to lean on. One slight issue right now is that the KL-12 runs 100% with AA and Fed Grands, but those shells are impossible to find right now. Actually there are no shells for sale of any kind in all of Georgia it would seem. So I'd start trying now to find premium 1250fps shells for matches and grab decent cheaper shells for practice. Edit: I don't have most of the gear Adam mentions. Other than a KL-12, my only open specific gear is just a decent lightweight rifle bag and offset dot for rifle. I'll get a bipod before I shoot another major. Don't feel like you have to buy a bunch of gear right off. Do it if you can, but focusing on movement practice and fundamentals will pay larger dividends. And stocking up on ammo. If you don't already have a dialed in long range rifle load than you do need that for sure.
  7. Yeah, it all makes pretty good sense to me. Sounds like it'll be a fun match, I'm considering it, but I just feel naked without my shotgun.
  8. I think this is the format that's best for the future of 3-Gun. I really wish I was closer!
  9. I went out on a limb and ordered the Nerd Urn which is designed for the STI DVC Open. I swapped in 5/8" spacers, cut out little windows to accommodate the full dust cover of the Honcho, and then shortened it a bit for the hell of it. Probably could have used heat instead of cutting for the dust cover, but cutting was fast and easy. It also came with the Nerd Gallows hanger, which is super nice. I don't have what I need yet to put that on my belt with a release, so i'm still using my BOSS for now. The retention is super strong cranked down and takes a bit of an extra jerk, but still releases nice and smooth with medium and light tension on the thumb screw, which is all I need most of the time. Modding the Urn should work for other open guns too I think, Chaos and such.
  10. Wish I could post videos easier here. https://www.instagram.com/p/CIg22cQp4fx/?igshid=1ejpt91hlabqw
  11. Got my Honcho. So good. llo_20201214_213836_1.mp4
  12. Sounds like you didn't reassemble it correctly.
  13. Me too, except I'm mega stoked. Gonna be a looooong November.
  14. any chance you can send me one too? I am just venturing into how technology can help me keep shooting haha.
  15. I have the springer pads with stock follower and spring. They hold 23 reloadable. The set screw sucks, as noted above.
  16. I just discovered this thread. It is awesome. You might want to try 3 gun out, it has 3 times more guns to do ridiculous things with!
  17. They were the new 940 jm pro, yes. If you want a gas gun get a beretta. If you want an inertia gun get a benelli. If you want the coolest possible shotgun get Dissident Kl-12.
  18. The 2 I've seen at matches did not work well, but I don't know what shells they were trying to run either...
  19. Thanks y'all, I just wasn't sure how fragile the emitter was. Compressed air alone didn't do anything, so I cleaned it with an alcohol cutip than blew that off with air and that returned it to normal.
  20. Used my Sig Romeo 3 XL at a match for the first time today and now the dot has specks around it. I have cleaned the glass with lens cleaner. I'm attaching a picture of what is happening. While the camera does pick it up, it is more pronounced in real life. Any ideas?
  21. I have the Pro lifter in a regular 2nd gen Comp. I found this to be an issue as well but the fix was very easy. I just hit the contact surfaces of the little lifter release button and the knob on the lifter with a coarse file to give it more engagement friction. I also relieved the forward edge of the little button so the shells didn't hit it on their way into the port. Still works fine when intentionally depressed and I have not had any accidental ghost loads since that first day through dozens of matches and practices and 1000s of rounds.
  22. I run a 3 Gun match and help with a PCC and Pistol 2 Gun match. Registration has been a bit slower for both and at the 2 Gun last weekend there were a lot of ammo woes discussed. i put a 200 round match on the ground which at current prices may have been too much I reckon. At the same time, I'm not wasting my time and energy to build a 50 round match, nor would I attend one. It seems to me that the people who started shooting in the last 4 years during the Golden Days of Ammo did not prepare for this either in stockpiling or setting up reloading operations. At least some portion of the older guys are set, although I have been amazed at the number of mid and top tier shooters who I have seen say they have little to no ammo. For 3 Gun matches I am going to lean heavily on birdshot since its still reasonably available and affordable and reduce rifle and pistol. 1 shot on long range rifle steel instead of two, for example. I use a lot of optional white steel so I imagine people will start choosing to engage that with shotgun more. 9mm seems to be the biggest issue around here, of course, folks could just choose to shoot the A one time and save ~50%. Looks like we might all just be shooting shotgun only matches next year. Its the best gun anyway, haha.
