  1. I am getting quite a bit of barrel slop in my 34 when its cocked, barrel moves side to side as well as up and down. The reason I am concerned is my newer G20 is quite solid in this respect and the 34's accuracy also seems to be going downhill, unless its me. Gun has about 2500 rounds through it, plus alot of dry firing. Does this sound like it could be a worn slide lock lever? Maybe need to purchase the machined slide lock piece that has been mentioned before. Thoughts?? Thanks, Doug
  2. I recently had Mike Caylor put together a G20 limited for me. I thought he did a real nice job, turnaround time was probably 1 month, the cost was reasonable and it shoots great. I much prefer it to the G34 that I have been shooting in production. I haven't used it in a match yet, because I didn't have any mag pouches until the other day. However in a practice session yesterday, I got to compare it to a friends SVI Limited and discovered I can shoot the SVI even better. It is making me have serious thoughts about upgrading to an SVI. I have always thought it is the shooter that makes the difference but it makes me wonder if some folks can be more successful with one brand of gun vs another, irrespective of learning to be proficient with what you already have
  3. Guys, I have Charlies drop in trigger kit (very nice incidentially)and a 15lb spring installed; given that, do you have any suggestions as to which primers to use? Also, what sort of PF does WWB typically make? Thanks, Doug
  4. Several of you guys on here showed me the light (Flex, Ray, Raul, et al)! I appreciate all the good advice I have received, and yes Glk21C, please by all means share your load data. I have not started reloading yet, but plan to shortly. Was going to go with Precision Bullet 185s, N320 (starting at 4.2 gr and going up from their based on chrono), OAL 1.18-1.19. I will at some point probably try to lighten the slide along with hard chroming it. Thanks all, Doug
  5. Harmon, The magwell is a glockmeister that has been permanently attached. It has some checkering and was black teflon coated. Doug
  6. Thought some of you might be interested to see some pics of my new baby. It is a .40 KKM barreled G20, which has been modified by Caylor Custom Guns. I am really happy with the way it turned out; Mike Caylor does excellent work at reasonable prices. Doug
  7. Hi Sharyn, Glad you survived and in good spirits. These things happen infrequently, but are scary none the less. I got hit in the hand by a .45 that had done a 180 in a steel rim that was supporting a very low to the ground plate. Felt like someone hit me will a ball peen hammar. I thougth it shattered a bone in my hand, but fortunately only turned out to be a bone bruse and laceration, no fragment left behind. Stay safe out there. Doug
  8. Thanks for all the input guys; I certainly didn't expect to get this much feedback. I want to look it over and will probably offer him $40 for it since its an old unit. Doug
  9. I plan to start reloading in the near future. A friend has a very lightly used Dillion FL - 2000 tumbler that he wants to sell for $85. This seems a bit high priced to me and I'm not sure what these models cost when new. I think its about 6 yrs old. I don't really need that large a tumbler, however, it also comes with some new media. This isn't worth spending too much time contemplating, but I don't know how these items hold up and am wondering whether to offer him $40 - 50 or buy a brand new smaller model? Thx, Doug
  10. Thanks for the recommendations! Anyone know where I can order a CR Speed WSM for a Large Frame Glock? Seems like most of the sites don't even acknowledge that there is a large frame version; B&B lists it, but presently indicates it is out of stock. Also, would my Comptac mag holders work OK on CR Speed belt? Thanks, Doug
  11. I was thinking a Blade-Tech DOH might be a good way to go at a reasonable price and I could use it on my 1.5" Wilderness belt and with my existing Comptac mag holders. Does this make sense or should I be looking at something else along with a CR Speed belt? Thanks, Doug
  12. Does anyone know if THE captured rods can be used with Wolf springs? Thx, Doug

    Glock 20/40

Looks very nice! What else have you done to it (eg sights, rod/spring, slide lightening, mag release, trigger, etc)? Doug
  14. Good points. As to using the conversion barrel for production, there was some discussion on that above, and don't know how that might eventually play out. Nevertheless, as a newbie, I am planning to start reloading soon, and to your point about using the stock or a aftermarket 10MM barrel, could one use .40 dies to reload 10MM brass for shooting production? I am starting to think that it may be better to keep the 20 as a dedicated limited gun, otherwise this could get expensive Guys, thanks for all the good info! Doug
  15. Thanks for those recommendations Raul and Flex! I don't know how practical it will be to trying to make the gun work for both classes, but in either case it will be better than me.
  16. Thanks Flex/TD/et al, Went to the Gun Show today and picked up a 20 for $499, seemed like a decent price . The fun continues as I decide on the other goodies: KKM or Barsto, tungsten or SS guide rod, Wolf spring (what weight?), Vanek or Sotelo trigger, mag extenders, burried bo-mar/dawson or other??? Any recommendations from the experts out there on configuring this to play from possibly both a limited and production aspect? For example, if I added a Glockmeister magwell, is that easily removed to go back to production? Doug
  17. Now that you point that out absolutely!!! The idea of going with a 20 is looking better and better. Although I plan to reload shortly, is it possible to fire .40 factory ammo (eg WWB, CCI) from the OEM barrel with out changing any other pieces like the ejector??? No problem feeding from the stock mags?? Thx, Doug
  18. Thanks Flex, yes, I was thinking lim and lim-10.
  19. I have been wanting to move to a .40 from my 9mm 34 and was thinking about getting a 35, but this seems like an intriguing option. Which KKM barrel do you recommend, the match or 6" match? Also, what do you guys think about using the 20C vs the 20? Thanks, Doug
  20. Thanks Bugs/Kimberkid. I was wanting to try the 15 lb spring and steel rod to see if it reduces muzzle flip a little, or maybe with a tungsten rod.
  21. Is there any problem in using a Wolf 15# recoil spring in conjunction with Ralph's kit with its reduced power striker spring? I have a G34 and shoot WWB and Blazer and am getting confused about which striker spring (heavier or lighter) works with a reduced power recoil spring? Thx, Doug
  22. That sounds like a good idea; I'll try to borrow one and go through this test. Also, doesn't pulling your elboes in some also help to stablize and return gun to same starting point versus having your elboes bowed out?? Doug
  23. Andy, You always offer very good insight; sent Len an email tonight to see what sort of classes he has coming up. My initial perception of this slight change in grip seems very positive from dry firing, but the proof will be at the range. Thanks, Doug
