  1. Just thought I’d update. I’ve used my heated vest a few times now at least (couple of matches and couple of times while working outdoors) and so far I’d say it was worth every penny.
I bought a pretty big battery pack to go with it and even on high it lasts the whole 6 hours plus out on the range.
I’ve worn it under and jacket but over baselayer  and it fits snug enough that I take my jacket off to shoot and the vest stays on. Only drawback of the one I got is the battery pocket is on my left just in front of where my mags are. But small price to pay for bring warmer.

One other trick that helps if you haven’t seen it. Take a hand warmer and put it in your magwell between stages. Works better on metal guns but still works on poly too. Just remember to take it out before you load!

My choice is good rain coat that goes down at lest mid thigh, a ball cap, water proof foot wear and water proof gun cover (a cheap shower cap). Side note, you can find cheap shower caps in the African american hair care product section in walmart.  I think I paid less than $3 for a bag of 20 shower caps.  Also,  if your cleats aren't water proof you could always take hobo route with putting plastic bags over your socks before you put your cleats on.

Man this is genius! Why didn’t I think of that. Thank you!

  3. Just out of curiosity how many belt keepers (if any) do you guys run on your USPSA rigs?

I run two Velcro, one in front of mags and one in front of holster, with a plastic slide on type (from Shooters connection) for the overlap in the back.

I’m surprised at how many ppl I see without any. Twice I’ve seen shooters almost loose their entire belt when they catch them on something. Once at an area level match during walk thrus, two shooters bumped into each other and another time during a run a shooter caught his belt on a wall while backing up.

Ive also found that not too many places sell them.

    Changed from a Sp01 Shadow to a 320 xfive.

Doubles are easier with the shadow, no doubt, the sights come back pretty nice. But i am used to the gun, and only IF you have the perfect grip. What is kind of hard to do if you have hands that are a bit large for the gun.

The xfive doesn´t have a much harder recoil impulse, what is pretty nice for a plastic gun, but the stock trigger is much harder to use for fast doubles.

Transitions are much easier with the xfive. That was obvious right away. Draws are faster too, but the gun behaves more shaky because it is so light. The first few draws i almost threw the gun away, beeing used to use a bit muscle for the steel gun.

I think, it is more easy to shoot a shadow or any other steel gun fast and accurate than a polymer gun, (for beginners that can be huge) but once you learned the polymer gun and got the trigger (in my case) like you like it, it doesn´t make a big difference. The transitions where really easier, faster and more accurate right away.

You maybe have to train harder to shoot a polymer gun faster/better.

But you also have to train harder to transition a steel gun better/faster/more accurate.

I’m still getting used to my Shadow...but I recently handled a friends X5 Legion and it seemed to feel perfect in my hands. Very tempting!

Game theory would probably dictate using 10 round magazines for competition - the risk of making the mistake of loading more than the Division capacity is too high and the cost of making that mistake is not acceptable. How many have seen that guy who takes a make up shot on 4 paper/2 steel array and doesnt have to rack the slide after the reload? There is always one :) Although you 'could' put a positive spin on this - like winning Open at the Production Nationals :)

For training this is not an issue, but for competitions - 10 round mags only for me.  I'll trade some of my standard cap mags for 10-rounders .

This^. I started in IDPA and after the first time I miscounted my rounds I bought all 10 round mags.
Use a Barney mag to load the +1.
It’s also easier to tell if the round chambered that way. Barney mag has 1 round, load mag, slide forward, remove mag. If mag is empty then round loaded!

  6. I apologize if this has been asked before but I tried a search with no luck and I did read the rulebook. Rulebook states milling only for sights allowed.

I have a Shadow1 with an optic plate milled into the slide by CGW. I have an additional plate with a rear sight on it.

if I put the rear sight plate on it it production legal?

Anyone else have the lens “peeling” issues with Oakley? I had a pair of Bolle glasses that didn’t last more than a weekend before it started to peel on the inside. And it wasn’t caused by a scratch. Every Oakley pair I owned had this issue: tombstones, radar, flak jacket, polarized, prism, photochromic, non polarized, etc. I’ve owned a pair of arnette polarized glasses that were used daily and it didn’t have this issue.

Switched to ranger phantoms which have been great(clay target shooting).

I’ve had Various sets of Oakley’s the past 20 years and I’ve never had that issue. You must have some potent sweat!

I do normally wear a hat while shooting.  I had a pair of the original ImpactX Racing Red lens, I couldn't tell much of a difference in the darkness of the lens.  The originals, going from memory which is scary, only had about a 30% light transmission difference anyway.  So they were already fairly dark and I don't see them offered anymore at Rudy.  The new ImpactX2 Racing Red range from 16-75%, I would expect you would notice a significant difference wearing a hat.

Well there’s something I never thought of. Anyone else have expierence while wearing a hat? I always wear a hat and was about to buy a pair of photocromatic glasses from ruby.

  9. CZ Customs sells a spare parts kit for CZ Shadows and it contains not one but 6 slide stops, so that tells ya they are fairly common to failure. But every thousand rounds seems excessive.
    Hot loads?
