  1. I’m in the same boat, coming from glocks although I could never get the slide to auto forward, but my strong hand thumb could easily reach the slide release (on my G34).
I’ve got a Shadow 1 now that I’m trying to relearn in, will autoforward most of the time but when it doesn’t it really costs me time. As slavex said above, I need to not rely on the autoforward but get used to hitting with weak hand thumb.
my buddies have Shadow 2’d and they autoforward when mag is slammed in as well.

  2. Even the Syntech ammo that I run in matches hits 145 PF out of a G34. Where are you guys finding factory ammo that does 130-135PF?

I reload and it’s for $ savings (although not that much saving in 9 minor) but also I really like the softer recoil with my own ammo.

I’ll be honest though, reloading is a pain in the butt. I’m not one of those guys who enjoys it, to me it’s a chore. Everyone likes to talk about how many rounds per hour they can knock out.
They don’t talk about collecting brass on the range, cleaning it, sorting it (by headstamp if you want consistency). They don’t talk about filling primer tubes or case gauging and inspecting every round. Adjusting your machine for different loads. Of course not everyone does all of those things but it’s all a part of reloading and it all takes time.

  3. Anyone know what’s going on with Grams Engineering?
Placed an order for 11 coil springs/followers for CZ mecgar mags 10 days ago. No word. I’ve left messages and emails with no response. I’ve looked around and most other places are out of stock and waiting for resupply.
I’ve heard his is the best around but I’m having trouble getting them!

  4. Usually better props, better looking stages. Stages with more options.
Most clubs have their own flavor, you ca usually guess how each clubs stages will be. A level 3 will be all the stage designers mixed into one big match.
My personal expirence is that there is a bigger diffeeence between local stages vs big match stages in IDPA then there is in USPSA.
Also get to see some of the big names in the sport. Last year I ended up squadding with Mason Lane. Was awesome not only watching him shoot but he’s very down to earth and it was awesome chatting with him during the match.

buddies shooting the federal Syntech had failure to fire while all other ammo worked normal in their guns . All said had solid primer hits without a bang. Odd considering lots use their primers when loading their own, maybe the primers were not seated all the way , idk .

That was actually my original question for them...if the primers in the Syntech were indeed federal primers because that what I reload with and those had no issues.
They told me yes they are federal primers but maybe they are different from what I’m buying.

  6. I use the Federal syntech at major matches. Last two matches I used it at I had about 8 FTf’s. Thought it was the firing pin spring in my Glock but it would never happen with my reloads.

Contacted them anyways, showed them a pic of a couple of the rounds I was able to find with pretty solid primer hits.

They had me send all 450 rounds that I had left from a case back to them for testing. I thought that it was cool they cared. They payed shipping obviously.
that was in November. They are supposed to replace the ammo but haven’t had it in their warehouse since. 😡

Confused. By definition the speed should be greater with polygonal rifling.

You’re correct and that’s what the OP is saying I believe, that the gen 3 34 has it but the gen 5 doesn’t, well it kind of does but it’s supposed to be more accurate

To the OP, the gen 5’s have different rifling so I could see it making a difference.

obviously the barrel length in your 34 will make some difference as well.

Are temps the same as when you chronod the 34?

The Pro Ears Stealth Elite kickstarter program is in its last days and has received overwhelming response. Might want to take a look at the rechargeable Bluetooth capable ear plugs.

Only the Bluetooth lanyard is rechargeable if I’m reading it correctly.

    From the page:

Each set of Stealth Elites come with two earbuds independently powered by your standard #10 battery, a rechargeable lanyard with Bluetooth capabilities that can connect to your earbuds to play music or talk on the phone, several sizes of foam ear tips to fit with a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 28, and several sizes of silicone tips designed for staying in your ear during physical activities.

  9. Response from my area coordinator says about the same thing as you.
a buddy of mine has shot 6 major matches with CO Shadow 2 with stock mag release so I guess it’s really about who’s checking.

“Thanks for your question.  The Shadow 2 is not legal in any division of IDPA.  First because of weight.  Possibly it could be trimmed down to make the 45oz limit in CO but the magazine release is the main problem.  Rule 8.1.7 D applies to every division and Shadow 2 magazine release is not legal.  To compete with the gun in CO would require a legal magazine release.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Yup.  Every once in a while somebody will try to sneak in a cocked or half cocked gun to ease the effort on an unloaded start, but an alert SO will make him drop the hammer.

I like to try and start with the slide locked back and see if they catch it. 🤣🤣😎

My tuned SPO1 Shadow 1s were nicer/smoother/better than my stock S2s.  No question.

True but he doesn’t have a shadow 1, just the  sp-01 so he’s got a little more difficult task if he wants to try to get it to the S2 level.

The way it was ruled on for me is that the bolt on paddle portion of the S2  mag release = an oversized magazine release button. Bc the diameter of the paddle/button, has a larger OD than what it attaches to. I wasn’t the only one DQed bc of it. I think at least one guy running a 2011 was DQed for the same thing.

Also doesn’t matter if it’s Stock on the gun, it still is what it is. E.g. you can’t argue that the Magwell on a SIG X5 is just part of the frame and run it in SSP bc it comes installed from the factory.

So in that way even using it on an S2 should be illegal.

Shadow 2 Mag release with the paddle is not legal for IDPA in any division. I got DQ'ed at Texas state last year for running one on my Shadow 1 in ESP. Here's the rule:

8.1.7 Allowable Modifications for All Divisions

The following modification rules apply to firearms in all divisions.

    D. An extended magazine release button may not be oversized in diameter or protrude more than 0.2” out from the frame. The measurement is taken at the rear most part of the magazine release, where it exits the frame. When the magazine release area is recessed into the grip frame, the grip frame to the rear of the recess is used as the base of the measurement.

Hmmm. That’s interesting because it’s not an oversized mag release it’s stock on the Shadow 2. My buddy has shot a bunch of major matches and never gotten DQ’d with the shadow 2 in CO.

Thank you for the real world expierence.

  14. As you’ve probably heard, the times for the 5x5 classifier were adjusted as of Jan 1st. Looks like an avg Of around 3 seconds or so quicker for each classification (it’s harder now).
I find it odd that they changed the times on the 5x5 but not on the long classifier.
Myself and my small group of buddies can all make SS pretty easily with the long classifier, but I just did the 5x5 with new times and just missed SS (would’ve made it with old time).
    Anyone else have similar results?

  15. There’s been some chatter on the ole web that they might be using these stages and results as future classifier stages. Maybe they’ll try the USPSA method of classification?

I don’t know if there is any truth behind that but it’s an interesting thought.

  16. I think it shows competition doesn’t really drive CZ sales. I’ll bet they sell more 9mm TSO’s then they do 40 cal TSO’s.
lots of ppl buy guns just to target shoot.
(I don’t understand these ppl but hey, what do I know 😎).

  17. So this is a two parter. I’ve read some of the other stuff in the forums regarding the Shadow 2 in IDPA. It seems inconclusive if you could make the Shadow 2 legal for SSP.

First I’d like to put a Shadow 2 mag release on my Shadow 1. I shoot CO so I’m assuming this would be legal since I know lots of Shadow 2’s shoot in CO. Please correct me if I’m wrong here.

My buddy also wants the same thing except he shoots ESP and SSP.
Most ppl say that this is not a legal mod. His argument is that the only thing keeping a Shadow 2 from being legal in those divisions is the weight, and it sounds like some ppl have successfully shot those divisions with a lightened Shadow 2.

    Thoughts?

Here is the quote from the rulebook to save you some time:

Magazine releases, slide stops, safety levers, de-cocking levers, hammers, and triggers, that are stock on one SSP
legal firearm may be used on another SSP legal firearm from the same manufacturer provided they are drop in
replacements. Parts in this list must come factory installed on standard production firearms. Special parts that
are available installed only from a factory custom shop are not eligible in SSP.

Tried to find the Sidekick hat mount, but no luck.  Where did folks get yours?  I have the Go Pro 7.

    thanks!

Same. Looks like a nice stable option but I don’t see them available anywhere. Looks like it may have been a kickstarter project?
