  1. At first I dropped my gun somewhere between chest and stomach and real close and tight. Not sure why; no one taught me this nor do I remember seeing anyone do this. As I shot USPSA more and more, I don’t drop it as much, but enough to see what’s ahead of me as I run for the next spot. Note* this video was after installing new basepads and I wanted to test them out, not necessarily a speed drill. https://www.instagram.com/p/BvdDPdxDOGO/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=7zufnjzvlh1p
  2. First time I’ve got an opportunity to shoot nationals, so I may ask dumb questions. Do nationalsfill up fast, or is the slot I have a code for reserved u til a certain date?
  3. Are you registered or just have a slot for you? I have a slot through my club for limited, but don't see anywhere for registration
  4. It's easy as any other 2011 pistol to rack thumb over slide style. I am conscious about slide biting myself on the island though. lol
  5. I have gen2 mags. Used MBX from a buddy at Illinois sectionals and both worked fine. Gen2 with flat follower and +1 base pad of your choice is the same as MBX, plus you save maybe $10 and have spare parts from the stock internals
  6. 4k+ rounds, mix of factory(federal, blazer, etc), and match ammo. changed out the trigger to STI short, extended mag release, and Nitrofin slide lever. Everything else is stock.
  7. Looking for Followers and baseplates that will work with .40 gen2 STI mags that will keep it legal for USPSA Limited. Some parts list if it’s compatible with gen2 and others don’t. Some also say it needs a new spring and others don’t https://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Dawson-Follower-4045-STI-P699.aspx Found this +1 and no slide lock, but doesn’t say if it’s Gen2.
  8. As I wrap my fingers around my grip and land my thumb over the safety and start raising the gun out of my race holster, my natural tightening of the grip as I lift disengages the safety
  9. I received my DVC Limited .40 in June. 0 issues after a couple thousand rounds from WWB, Blazer, to Freedom Munitions and I shot the Illinois Sectionals with NCShooters remanufactured ammo.
  10. Just received and installed my short curved trigger. Helped a bit, but the meat between my first and second knuckle still push on the thick part of the grip(the second picture). I forgot to take a mental note of how thick that part is, but anyone know if there’s room to dremel part of that section or at least round it out? Or is it thin and the trigger bow is right behind it?
  11. My STI already has the Extreme Shooters DVC grip, and their smallest grip option(frame or service) only reduces material on the MSH, which doesn't really help out with my grip/trigger reach problem. I was wondering if it was possible to remove material in these areas.
  12. I've been building my "shopping" list for parts to make my STI fit my small hands better. Any recommendations would be appreciated; I'm fairly new to the 2011/1911 aftermarket, so I'm not too sure of what options are out there. Trigger - STI Short trigger https://dawsonprecision.com/trigger-sti-2011-hicap-short-curved-by-sti/ I can't justify the SV trigger unless I planned on swapping them out constantly. Magazine release - I'm looking for a mag release that reaches back like this one https://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?id=STIMB&n=STI-Magazine-Release-Button Slide stops - Shooting Sports Innovations w/ thumb rest. https://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?id=ACSSB&n=Shooting-Sports-Innovations-Thumb-Rest-Slide-Stops My biggest issue as of now is my support thumb riding the arm of the slide lever and locking the slide back. It's also a cheaper and less riskier option than drilling my frame for a separate *thumb rest [generic]*. Grip Safety - Ed Brown grip safety. https://dawsonprecision.com/grip-safety-1911-memory-groove-series-70-by-ed-brown/ Pictures seem like it'll reduce the thickness from trigger to the back of the frame, but there aren't measurements anywhere to compare? Also, not sure if blending/gunsmithing is necessary. Gunsmithing - How much material can you remove from the grip and frame before risking weakening them too much? Also on the DVC Limited, is the frame hard chromed like the slide or just stainless?
  13. Their customer service response is great. Not sure what it'd be like for turn around time. The gun itself is great so far. I've ran about 1000 rounds through it so far and a couple matches. 0 ammo issues with factory ammo. Winchester White Box and Federal Champion 0 magazine issues with the new style factory mags. Only problems I'm running into is with my small hands. I just need to get a a short trigger and extended magazine release. I'm glad I went with STI. Pictures and shooting videos are on my instagram. https://www.instagram.com/cheekychung/
  14. I have 4 STI mnew mags with my DVC Limited. No issues on any of them so far
  15. Any reviews on STI this year for reliability and customer service? I've read things here and there about new management, manufacturing, etc, but still don't see any reviews for any of the new 2018 products; only product 'ads' and short shooting videos. I plan on shooting their new DVC Limited in .40 for USPSA Major, but I have seen issues with their hard chrome and a badly fitted machine slide for the island barrel, but that was during their last ownership/lineup.
