Have you shot with it yet?

I think it’s too easy to pinch your thumb in the lock back cutout of the slide. I have a pretty good blister there after 500 rounds yesterday.

Does it catch on the draw at all? That's very good news if not!

I had already removed the small lip in the indentation for the thumb test because it caught on the *thumb rest [generic]* rest. I’m not sure if the align thumb rest would catch there or not, I’d guess yes.

Same here.  About 250K on one of the original KISS plumbing-parts feeders.  Ordered it the first day they went on sale, but that press loads JHP pretty much exclusively.

Another thing for the 1050/Mark 7 users is to update the software if you haven't lately.  Sometime between when I updated it the time before (likely 2+ years ago) and a few months ago when I did again there was a change in the indexing code that greatly reduced tipping on mine.

I don’t think it’s as big of a deal with jacketed bullets.

I'm still running the original KISS Bulletfeeder (the forerunner to MBF) funnels in 9mm, 40 S&W, 38Sp and 45ACP since 2007 and they aren't worn out out.

They absolutely do wear out. It’s very noticeable when using an automated press and coated bullets. Bullets will start tipping and getting shaved while seating.  Replace the funnel, problems go away..

Thanks for all the suggestions. I now have it running. It may not yet be in final form, but it will now crank out rounds at 2500/hr. I implemented a couple of options above and may implement a couple more. However, the key change was the powder funnel. I simply upgraded to a new MBF powder funnel. The crazy part was that my mic did not see much difference between the old MBF and new MBF funnels but dropping in the new one solved the problem completely. In retrospect, what is interesting is this same setup in my 650 with MBF but with a manual handle was also tipping bullets off the shell on occasion. If I didn't keep an eye on it, it would make a mess of my finished rounds bin since I was using a seat/crimp die due to my use of a powder check. If you want to see video of the current setup and summary, you can find it here ==>

The MBF funnels wear out. I used to replace them every 40-50k

Many say the original X5 barrels seem to shoot acceptable groups using 147 gr..  I have 2 original X5 barrels and they do not shoot any better groups with the 147 gr than the Legion barrels.

You need to use the original slide. That’s where the difference  is.

Some say it does in the P320 legion so I was curious.

Not really for 147gr. I’ve used both and there was no appreciable difference. In the end when I was running a legion upper I switched to 135gr, which was better but not great.

I’ve read some of the older threads but wondered what people are using these days.

I’ve had really good results out of my legion and 125 grn blue bullets with 3.7 grns of titegroup.

However, I recently got a lot of coated 147s. Anyone willing to share load data and PF?

You likely won’t be happy with the accuracy from a 147gr coated bullet if you are shooting an X5 legion. A standard X5 will be ok though.

They do TIG welding to add some meat for custom fitting of barrel, no?

what I’m not happy about the X Five platform (especially Legion slide) is that it’s POI drifts up to “4 at 15yards as it warms up from cold start.

I know another shooter who had the same (therefore sold it). Anyone else has this phenomenon?

I definitely noticed that when I used a stock legion upper. After a couple hundred rounds, the POI would shift a good bit.

  10. The crazy thing is GG uses all OEM parts. So it shows that the gun hardware has the potential to shoot that type of ammo just fine….

that said, the legion will shoot lighter ammo, or fmj much better. But when you get a load it doesn’t like, it’s awful.

  11. I’ve been working on finalizing what ammo I’m going to use next year. Today when I was testing, I decided to take a stock legion along and see how it shot. I had forgotten how bad it was.

These guns just don’t like coated heavy bullets.

Shot from a rest at 15 yards.

I’ve also attached a pic of the same ammo shot from a grayguns modified slide. Huge difference.

Well, from what I’ve seen the Sig barrels vary somewhat. But here’s a Sig, VS BarSto.

Your example barrel is an OG sig p320 X5 barrel and is pretty much as bad as it gets. The barrels they use now have more support. Original design on the right, updated on the left, below. Theyve been using the updated design since they changed to the non LCI barrels on the legion.

Silent acknowledgement that there was a problem? Maybe.

That said, have you ever seen a blow out with someone using factory ammo?

Last Saturday in a SC match a squad member had an extractor break during a stage. Luckily he had a backup gun with him. No idea if/when he changes extractors (he will change it now) but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. A match is a perfect time for a gremlin to decide to show up. 🙃

What's the recommended round count for changing extractors?

The official number from sig is 20k for the extractor and spring. The parts will go well beyond this number, I have some practice guns with over 100k on all original parts, minus the recoil spring.

That said, I change the extractor and all the springs on my match gun every year regardless of round count. It’s less than $50 in parts and IMO cheap insurance.

I just got mine as well. Identical to yours. I did not have time to shoot it yet. It came with a 15# 1911 recoil spring which is short compared to the recoil spring that Legions usually come with. Which one are going to be using with this slide?

The 15Lb was way too heavy. I had too much brass bouncing off the optic. I ended up using the stock legion 12lb.
