  1. Yeah that's what I was thinking, but I've never fondled one and until last night, I'd never really thought about this issue.
  2. I was practicing reloads with a P14-45 for the first time last night and noticed that if I insert the mag slightly off, the feed lips get stuck on the cut outs on the right side of the frame where the grip panels are. Should I attempt to file the inside edge of that cutout? I started to wonder... do the S*I pistols have cutouts inside the grip? I'm assuming not, since they're plastic...?
  3. Since they're exactly 1/2 scale, if I place them at 10 feet, is it simulating 20 feet, or is the depth/distance calculation not linear? thx
  4. Thanks for posting flex, he's certainly a hero, without a shadow of doubt.
  5. Opening the midway catalog is better than Christmas. You look at a phone and notice that if you dial 911 or 511 they're in a perfect line and then wonder if that's just a coincidence, or if there's a hidden meaning. You look forward to returning to your car after a trip to the mall because it's another chance to practice moving from cover to cover. You find your eyes slicing the pie when walking through doorways. You know how many steps it is from your bedroom to the bathroom, how long it would take to move from P1 to P2, how many shots you would take and where you'd be when you needed to reload. You scoff at the thought of tactical underpants but start to wonder if they might actually help your score.
  6. You could turn it into a gazebo: http://www.ranum.com/fun/projects/gazebo/index.html
  7. Cool, well that's 3 of us. Kinda hoping there'd be more of us out there.
  8. I grew up in England and came to the US about 8 or 9 years ago. I live and shoot in central Ohio but haven't come across anyone else from the homeland that competes in IDPA, USPSA etc. Are there any other English people out there shooting?
  9. I shot well this weekend and got my first division win and placed 3rd overall (by time). The competition wasn't fierce, but I felt like I deserved the win since I shot well
  10. I had similar problems and chased the problem down to the crimp die that had loosened backed up a bit on my dillon 650. It wasn't taking out all of the bell which was causing the problems.
  11. Yeah that's all I could find, thanks. Just waiting on some cash and it'll be sent off to CC for the work.
  12. I just got an XD and am contemplating a trigger job. I looked through the 2005 rulebook and couldn't find any mention of a minimum trigger weight. Is there such a thing? thanks
  13. I ended up getting the 45ACP tactical.
  14. Thanks for the info. So it looks like I'll be ok with a 5" 45ACP in production or limited 10 and ESP/IDPA. That'll also set me up for a 40S&W slide kit and novak mag extensions when they're available....
  15. Sure... but assume both fit my hand.
  16. I currently shoot CDP/IDPA with a kimber, but may be getting an XD for christmas. This would only be for plinking/idpa, although I would like to try uspsa and steel plates some day. Would a 40S&W be more versatile than the 45acp? I reload and have dies for both calibers; component prices are pretty close between the two calibers, so cost is not really a major factor for me. Thanks.
  17. Flowing is anticipation with no hesitation.
  18. Last weekend I was the fastest in raw time and adjusted with penalties in the second run of one of the stages during a Central Ohio IDPA match. I also made the top 10 (9th) out of 34 on my first run which I'm happy with considering it was only my 5th event. I know it's not much of an achievement, but I'm happy with it
  19. Well considering I've only ever shot maybe 3000 rounds, in about 20 trips to the range and 2 IDPA events, I think I'm highly qualified to be a novice and as such I much prefer to check the chamber manually I usually use a different method of just grasping the top of the slide with my weak hand and push it back a bit, but I just got done reading Dave Lauck's book on the 1911 and he described the different method with the thumb in the trigger guard. Thanks for all your responses.
  20. I'm assuming that the press check method of having your thumb inside the trigger guard is a no no? I like to do a press check during the LAMR.
  21. Thanks all, I guess I may have to try one these: http://kimberamerica.com/cart/index.php?ma...1ca6fd31daab150
  22. Ron: Actually, when I do the same exercise with a Springfield XD, it's absolutely perfect. I put about 20 rounds through a G21, but didn't try the eyes closed pointing exercise.
