    Red dot for TSO

I’m considering getting a 9mm TSO for some local range games. I need to shoot with a red dot and would prefer one mounted on the slide. Does this CZC mount work on the TSO? https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/red-dot-mounting/slide-racker-multi-ts-st-blued.html Anyone have their TSO slide milled for the CZC optic plate system? Thanks, Jeff
  2. I have a relatively new Kimber KHX Optic Ready 9mm with a Vortex Venom on it. I bought it only because of the optic ready slide and was prepared to have lots of issues. Well, other than 3 FTFeed with one Wilson ETM mag the gun has been flawless. That was 1,800 rounds ago. I’m over 2,100 rounds since buying it this June. I did adjust the sear spring to get the trigger pull down to 3 pounds 6 ounces and it feels great. This gun feels almost as nice as my Dan Wesson PM9 and shoots just as well. This gun is making me a Kimber fan boy. Kimber builds more 1911s than anyone except maybe Colt, so lots of them out there. I think the bad mouthing they get is undeserved. Mine is the most reliable out of the box centerfire 1911 I have. Jeff
  3. An old practice with bullseye 1911s was to load the gun by having the slide locked back, inserting a loaded magazine, holding the trigger all the way back and then dropping the slide by either slingshotting or with the slide release lever. The idea was that this simulated the firing sequence and protected your sear/hammer interface from getting damaged. Some advocate doing this during fry fire as well. If you use this technique enough times you will eventually get an AD by letting the trigger go forward just a little. Don’t do this. Ever. It’s a habit that will get you disqualified or injured eventually. I dry fire my 1911s a lot by just running the slide and I don’t hold the trigger back when recocking the gun, even though it simulates the firing sequence. I don’t let my slide drop on an empty chamber, just hold the slide and let it go forward slowly when dry firing. If I have to replace ignition components early so be it, but thousands of dry fires have not done anything to any of my pistols so far. Jeff

    CZ 97 trigger

Well, my smokin’ deal on a used gun fell through. How hard is it to put in the SAO trigger, get a crisp 2-3# pull and put adjustable sights on a 97B? Jeff

    CZ 97 trigger

Thanks for the replies. Just wanted to make sure it is straightforward to increase the pull if I needed to. Jeff

    CZ 97 trigger

I am looking at a used CZ97. It has a Cajun pro trigger job in it and is SAO. The trigger pull is 2 pounds now and wondering how hard it would be to increase it to 3 pounds? Don't know if I will like the trigger so light. Thanks, Jeff

    Optic Ready Shadow2?

Okay, so a big wait for a factory OR pistol. So who do you guys recommend for milling a slide for a direct installation of a Leupold DPP? Jeff

    Optic Ready Shadow2?

I contacted CZ USA last week asking about an OR Shadow 2. They sent me a form email that they know nothing about future guns. Are people happy with the RDS plates and milling from CZ Custom? Seems like having a slide milled is the only option unless you want to wait who knows how long. I would have thought the US is a huge market for CZ and they would want to get new guns here ASAP. Jeff

    Co-witness?

For a carry optics gun do you prefer to run it without sights or do you find a set of co-witness sights helpful? Thanks, Jeff
  10. I have a PM9 and the older model RO Target in .45. I had the trigger on the Springfield worked on, added a FO front sight, EGW custom bushing (which did improve accuracy), grip tape and VZ grips. I’m not up to a DW price, and it shoots well for me, but I much prefer the PM-9. The higher grip on the PM-9 is very noticeable and a big part of why shooting it is so nice. In retrospect I wish I had just bought another Dan Wesson, which I’ll probably end up doing. The RO is a good gun - the PM9 is fricking awesome! 3,000 rounds in and I still have to take it apart with a bushing wrench. Jeff

    Shadow 2 Safeties

Thanks for the replies. I'll try shooting it with the wide right thumb safety. I do shoot left handed as well, so I'll see if I need both extended safeties. Jeff

    Shadow 2 Safeties

What thumb safeties does the Shadow 2 ship with - just the skinny ones on the gun or does a wider thumb safety come with it? How do I ambidextrous wide safeties? Thanks, Jeff
  13. I have a Q4 with a Vortex Venom and a compensator. Its awesome. I just want a heavier gun with an optic on it to play with. Jeff
  14. I don’t want to wait that long. Is everyone happy with the CZC RDS plate system?
  15. Any more news on when the optic ready Shadow 2 will be in the USA? I really want an optic on a S2 and don’t want to mess with having it done aftermarket if there is a factory ready one available. I sent an email to CZ a bit ago, but haven’t heard back. Jeff

    Shadow 2 Optic?

Thanks for all the information. I think I'll wait and see what the factory milled gun looks like. As for doing it yourself I saw someone on 1911forum who milled his Wilson Combat EDC X9 for an optic and it came out great. He owns a high end machine shop, so for him this was a minor job. Jeff

    Shadow 2 Optic?

XD, Did CZ Custom do the work? Thanks, Jeff

    Shadow 2 Optic?

I see on CZ Custom’s website that they do not put their rds plate on a Shadow 2. Any way to get a red dot on one? Thanks, Jeff

    226 Legion SAO RX

Ta da!!! Ask and ye shall receive. http://www.gunbroker.com/item/723101585
  20. Here's Basham's website. https://mentalmanagement.com/ I have all his stuff for sporting clays shooting and it definitely enhanced my game when I was competing. With Winning in Mind is very good, but you have to get Freedom Flight. It may well change your life. I have most of this stuff on CD and makes for great listening while working on guns and reloading. 226 Legion SAO RX

Can I just have yours? I'll trade you for a really nice, lightly used Glock! Jeff

    226 Legion SAO RX

Will Sig ever make such a pistol? I would like one very much. I know they have a 226 like this, but it sounds like the trigger on the Legion is much better. Jeff

    Shadow 2 Questions

I have been reading great things about the S2 and am considering buying one. I have several questions. Is there any difference between the models except color? I finally got to handle one today. Loved the way it fit my hand and the weight. However, when I pulled the trigger I was disappointed. The DA was okay, but I found the SA had a lot of pretravel, a bunch of mushy creep when it hit the wall instead of even a moderately crisp break, and then a longer reset than I was anticipating. I could shoot the reset okay as is. The mushy break was the the most disconcerting. I shoot a Dan Wesson 1911 a lot and am used to a super crisp 4 lb pull. Will the factory trigger pull get better with use? I can imagine it getting a touch lighter and smoother, but doubt it will get more crisp. How do I get a better trigger? I’ve looked at CGW and CZC and it looks like buying a gun from them will get a better trigger, but will a $1600 S2 have a fabulous SA trigger pull? Sending a gun in for trigger work with shipping will cost about the same as buying a new gun from the custom shops. Can this gun have a 1911 SA pull or is it impossible? Would I be better off getting a TS Orange? Any and all opinions and answers welcome. Jeff

    Home trigger work

Haven’t a clue how my trigger got to this pull weight, but it’s very consistent on my Lyman electronic trigger pull gauge. I used the same technique to measure it before and after. Besides replacing all 3 springs I just polished everything that touched. It already had the - connector from the factory. It resets just fine with multiple types of ammo and it all goes off, including Tula. I was actually pretty disappointed with the trigger pull from the factory considering this is their “target” gun. I’m just enjoying shooting it now. Jeff

    Home trigger work

I’ve been looking at ways to improve the trigger on my Gen4 G34 and was absolutely overwhelmed with the options available. I asked questions on several forums and it seems every serious Glock shooter has their own special “cocktail” of parts, springs and modifications to give them the trigger pull they like. Rather then buy a $200 (or more) trigger that I may not like I decided to start off simple. I performed a .25 trigger polish job and bought some Wolff springs - 4.5# striker spring, competition firing pin safety spring and heavy trigger spring. Last night, with the help of YouTube, I learned how to completely take apart my Glock. After I was done my pull weight went from just over 6lb to 3lb 10 oz. It still has the longish factory pretravel and reset, but a much smoother pull. I shot it today with no problems and it is easier to shoot accurately. I’m going to shoot this a bunch before I do anything else. I am spoiled by my 1911 triggers, but I do like shooting this gun. So, how do I put a compensator on this thing? Gotta have something to fiddle with. Thanks everyone for all the help and information I’ve received here. Jeff
