  1. Evidently Clinton's "Travel-Gate" program has had farther implications than first expected.....Har...Har..Har.
  2. I am currently running Uncle Mikes holders (2 mags in 1 holder) for production. The issue is when practicing reloads or during a match the first mag on each holder comes out pretty clean because you can get your index finger down along the front of the mag but when you go to get the second mag you cannot get to the mag cleanly because the holders are made close together. I was considering going with singles so I could space them a little farther apart. Anybody else have experienced with this? Any suggestions..Single vs. Double..brands ect.
  3. Jack, Glad to hear about the classifier this year. At this months match there was a lot of positive talk about the upcoming classifier. It gets some of the newer shooters in the "game" before the upcoming State match. BTW great turnout this month, in spite of the weather,, good to see.
  4. I currently use ISMI springs with captured Tun. guiderod in my G35 and must say they have not given me any functional problems at all, but I have to agree with Rocket 35. They feel very rough in the gun. Even my factory springs are much smoother in operation. When I order again I will go with the wolff springs and rod. Just my .2c worth.
  5. Had a similar problem with a M626 few years back. Initially thought it might be a reloading problem but all loads worked fine in other, similar S&W revolvers. It would "bind/drag" on occasion but it would do it with both minor and major loads. Tried a couple of local gunsmiths but no luck. Sent a letter stating the problem and the gun to S&W. Problem solved.....Good Luck
  6. My G35 factory mag release has extremely sharp edges. During dry fire reloading practice it becomes very uncomfortable, very quickly. H%$LL I think I may have developed a reloading flinch because of it (my excuse and I am sticking with it ). Duct tape on the thumb does help. But the question is can anything be done about this and still shoot in production class. I could Duct tape sandpaper to my thumb but not sure this would fall under normal wear.
  7. Like my Father, his Father and his Father "Never leave home without it". Never used it in a match yet
  8. Tom, Try measuring older rounds that will guage and compare them with the ones that won't (not the OAL you seem to have that, but at the crimp, near case head ect.). My guess FWIW goes along with Nolan. Check for overcrimp bulging the case or maybe not enough crimp now that you have changed OAL. Not sure what your die setup is. Hope this helps.
  9. I can remember .28/g prices. It went into a Farmall Cub tractor. It was a great event for me to be deemed "mature enough" to drive the tractor to the local store for a fill-up (~3miles). The main farm tractors were diesel and it seemed they never required a fill-up.
  10. OK, OK, Sorry, Here it goes I have been shooting USPSA for about 7 months. Started reading BE's book a few weeks ago and had to share what happened to me at the last match I shot. While waiting on deck with the nervous twitches and just trying to relax for my stage run, I saw an empty .45 case laying on the ground..... I looked over at the case and spat (Yes, I think it is a Southern thing).....but.....WHOA.....Wait a minute.....WOW an "A" zone hit on the case..... What H$%L just happened?????. I have to try this again..... Just look at the case and.....well you get the idea another "A" zone hit (FWIW I think my split was about 5 seconds). You can guess what happend after that.....LAMR, completed the stage with the RO shaking his head and calling 2 alpha, 2 alpha and had my best match to date. Point is.....The turning point can happen at any time if your mind is open to it.
  11. I am fairly new to loading for the .40s&w myself. After getting my many questions answered in this forum (thanks Flexmoney) I currently load my G35 @ 1.135 with 3.6gr of TG and MG 180gr bullets for production. I could make minor with a lighter load but the gun did not group as well for me with the lighter loads. I have ran over 5k of this load with zero problems to date. BTW there is a lot of good info on this if you search the posts. The info here has certainly saved me a LOT of time and money while I was working on a load.
  12. Bill Jordon.."No Second Place Winner" Older book geared to revolver but IMHO has some very good information.
  13. Good idea I have not checked but I will. I also like the Idea of putting a standard die in station one and moving the EGW die over. I have a little over 7K rounds through my current system and using a dillon case guage I have not had a single round that has not guaged. This has certainly provided some "peace of mind"
  14. I have a new Dillon 650 in .40S&W reloading for a Glock. Overall a great setup and have been quite satisfied with the system. I am currently using an EGW -sizing die and having problems with the case feeding into the die (it needs a little finger help to align properly). This happens once in every 8-10 cycles. While not a major issue it does slow things down considerably. I have re-aligned the EGW die several times without any luck on finding a "sweet" spot. I have not used a standard die with this setup so I don't have a baseline. Would this be considered normal for the "undersized" die? Is there something else I can do to help or is this just the "price to pay" for taking care of my glocked brass.
  15. Thanks to all for the info. Thanks to all for the info.
  16. I do...with a metal rod and spring. With the stock (plastic) rod, I don't worry about it. Roger that on the slide glide. Any thoughts as to why the 13 and 15 lb springs feel heavier than the stock spring?
  17. I will let you know if I have that "revalation". I did check the free length of the springs before installation and after only ~25 dry cycles they had already taken a -.300 set. Things just did not feel like I expected them.
  18. Getting ready to "proof" some minor loads at the range this weekend. I purchased a 13 and 15lb recoil spring from Glockmeister with a captured guide rod in case they are needed for the minor loads. When I installed them to check the 3F's (fit, form, function) even the 13lb spring "feels" heavier than the current stock spring (stock spring has ~3000 cycles) when cycling the slide. Would this be a normal feeling for new springs even though they are "reduced power". Also the new recoil spring setups feel much rougher in cycling (I attribute this to the steel over steel vs. the steel over plastic of the stock spring). Again is this feeling normal? Should I "Slide Glide" them initially even though it is recommended that Glock's be run dry? I'm sure that "live fire" will sort most of this out but I'm just curious as to what other's have experienced.
  19. New Shooter. So sorry if this beats a "dead horse" but... After searching the forums and reading over the Jan 04 rule book I am still somewhat confused as to what modifications are allowed for prodcution under USPSA. Sights..Fiber optics are OK as long as they are of the "notch and post" type. So far so good. Where the confusion comes from is... are you allowed to mill the slide to fit new sights. There seems to be two schools of thought on this one. Springs/Guide Rods..There is a lot of good information on this subject in the forums so I "ASSUME" that firing pin, trigger, recoil spring and guide rod(1 or 2 piece, steel or tungsten) modifications are allowed. If so where are these modifications covered? Under the .etc part of 21.4? Thanks in advance.
