  1. I had both a Glock AND an XD. I had trouble switching back and forth between platforms. I could adjust, but it took a little time. If I would practice with the XD over prolonged periods, I would heel and shoot high with the Glock. I ended up shooting the XD more and the Glock got shot less, until I sold it. I'm not saying XD is > than Glock, its just what I prefered. Many people have alot of guns and have NO trouble switching back and forth, so YMMV.
  2. Sounds like its a combination of both depending on the COF. If this is so...would it be better to use a bead for transitional speed, and slow down on the longer range targets or use rifle sights and concentrate on the front sight (similar to handgun)? Thanks for the welcom Clay...not everyone knows what "Arnis" means! I find that most people into the Filipino Martial Arts usually have a natural transition into firearms. I have a small school here in Florida, I've already encouraged 4 of my students to get thier Concealed Weapons License and particpate in some of the shooting sports to get trigger time. In Florida the license applies to everything (not just firearm). I have a pretty nice collection of Filipino and Indonesian blades, I'll post a picture sometime.
  3. I'm shooting my first 3 gun this Saturday! I learned how to use a shotgun as a kid dove hunting with my uncle, where you naturally point and focus on the target rather than the front sight. I was just wondering what method most 3 gunners use? Point shooting with a bead or aimed shooting with rifle/ ghostring sights? TIA Andy

  6. Thanks. Its made by Fabarm, imported by HK. HK and Fabarm are parting ways so they're having a fire sale at CDNN and other retailers. Great time to pick up a quality gun at a really good price. Still has HKs lifetime warranty. SigArms is picking up the line as the US Distributer. There are a few parts on the market, mag extension from Choate, side saddle (forarm would need to be trimmed probably for it to work as I think its for the older short forearm design.
  7. Thanks, yup... shotgun is a FP6 carbon, pump. Can't put a side-saddle on it because of the long forearm, but it feels pretty good because I have a short reach. Mag extensions a little long, but should be just right when I put a screw on choke on it.
  8. I've been using the search and going through these old posts. Thanks for all the great info! I usually shoot IDPA but I shoot my first 3-gun match in a couple weeks and this (and other posts) have been extremely helpful in getting me prepared. One question, I know it depends on the COF, but how much ammo should I bring? I'm shooting a PTR91 so I have 8 20rd mag, is that enough? Somebody told me to bring them all loaded up so I don't have to worry about it at the match. I'm also shooting an FP6 pump. I have 80 rounds of 7 1/2 and 40 rounds of slugs, I'm shooting an XD 9mm for handgun (I'm one 45 away from making HeMan/HeavyMetal but it will have to wait till the next paycheck), I have thousands of rounds of ammo but don't want to bring more than what I need. Thanks Andy
  9. I'm totally new to the sport but I like the idea of only allowing pump shotguns in He-Man. I think of this catagory as "place" where 308 and other large caliber shooters can play on a level playing ground and not have to go up against the faster, lighter recoiling 223 guns (I own a PTR308 that I hope to be shooting in 3 gun next month). I think its a place where people that have a pump can can compete on a level playing ground with other pump guns. As a general rule, pumps do recoil more than semiautos, might that be where the He-man comes from? Also, entry level pumps are more cheaper so more people can try the sport with less investment. Don't really agree on 30 caliber or greater since an M1 Carbine would be allowed. He-Man will then become an M1 event since the gamers will choose it for its low recoil. There needs to be a Major power floor for rifle and pistol.
  10. On Choate's website I see they only have a 7 and a 10 shot extension mag for the 20 LT? So if I call them they should have a 9 rd? I'd like to get one for my Youth model with a 21" barrel and 7 isn't enough and I think 10 is too big. From doing searches I think an 8 or 9 round round should be good, right? As an alternative, can I get a 10 rd and cut it down or are these things threaded? TIA
  11. Do you guys have any good tips for Lefty reloading? I usually keep my left hand in shooting position, finger off the trigger, supporting the weight of the gun by tucking the butt-stock under my left armpit, I tip the gun counter-clockwise to where the loading port is at 3 o'clock, and reload with my right hand. Living in a right handed world, I think most leftys adapt pretty good to ambidextrious operations (they probably use thier right hand more than right handers use thier left). I guess I could do the opposite of what you right handers do and reload with my left hand, tipping the gun upsidedown in my right hand.
