  1. looking for recomendations of gunsmiths to build a new 40 limited gun. Has anyone had any experience with Mitchell custom guns out of Texas? Let me know what you think.
  2. oh yes the big 75. got lucky there, 5 in at 75, all 6 at 50, only 6 at 25 I am not even going to try and figure that one out.
  3. What a great match and a great group of people to shoot with and meet. looking forward to next year already !
  4. Clay, It was nice to meet you ! and thanks for the barbque ! see ya next year txsl.
  5. Yes, We will all chant the same thing with you and hope it takes a turn way south. I have family all in the area and some were going to drive up to spectate at the match.
  6. I send my mags to Bevin Grams and they load on the fly with 20 rds. He charges 35.00 to 40.00 to tune plus 45.00 for his base pad, spring and follower. It is warrantied and great work but be prepared to wait 8 weeks.
  7. does this upper have an adjustable gas block ! If so have you tried to open the gas up on the block ? sometimes a mag with an improper fit and a spring that is very tight will slow down the bolt in its rearward movement and hinder extraction some of the time.
  8. ACOG did an excellent job, I could see the targets but was not doing my part. chevron does cover a lot of the long range targets. stage two i did horrible, but got my act together on 7 with just a couple misses. Rolled the gun to the side (with no sights ) to get the cqb hits on 4. most people shooting IOR say they are great as well !
  9. open: leave it alone tactical: leave it alone he man: make it like tactical pitols on every stage ok, but no hot pistols. I shoot tactical and don't plan on changing.
  10. Bushmaster 20", free float, miculek brake, jp trigger, acog, 30rd brownells mags, federal 62 gr american eagle ammo Winchester SX2, remington 7 1/2, federal slugs STI edge 40, 180gr 960 fps reloads Bianchi belt, all other gear from 3gungear
  11. Hello to All ! What a great match ! My .02 cents may not be worth much, but here it goes. Leave open alone. If it endagers 180 with pistol loaded, go to nothing in chamber for all divisions on pistol. Leave tactical alone. no bipods, sling only, irons ok, no mag limit. ( I do not own anything more than 30 rnd mags ) The biggest request I have heard is to change He Man. ( which I don't shoot in ) Is to add scope and allow auto shotgun. Maybe running He Man like tactical class and put all together at end like tactical will be the way to go. I would hate to see competitors not attend this match because of a big equipment change. Power factor ok, but use the chrono on all, not just the top competitors.
  12. Building one is good. Watch out for old actions made by remmy that will not cycle a round into the chamber once the bolt is pulled back from an empty chamber and a full tube, ( there is probably a fix for this that I don't know about ). If you want the latest and fastest just save a while and by a WIN SX2 and you will not be dissappointed. It is setup and ready to run except for side saddle carriers. If you start to build one you will eventually spend $ 900.00 anyway.
  13. Yes I own a Win SX2. I carry 18 rounds on the gun. All is from 3GUNGear. On the receiver side is an 8 round straight cant, and on the forestock is an 8 +2 straight cant. And it looks unstable at first because of the shape of the forestock, but looking from the top, I mounted it on the upper flat side, added small pieces of velcro to give the front strap something to hold onto. It takes a few runs to get used to holding on to the gun, but you can leave 2 or 3 shells out to give a full grip. I just reload those shells first in a stage if it requires. and also the 8 + 2 does not hang off either end of the forestock. Damon
  14. What type of ammo are you using ? and what mode of non extraction are you having ? ( bolt still in battery, bolt part way back, case sticking half way out ) JP rifles are sometimes ammo finicky and the gas adjustment needs to be tinkered with.
  15. BROWNELLS has repair kits for STI / Bomar sights. the new sight pin is smooth, so take a file and make a small indention where the middle tension spring can get a bite. use something to hold the sring out of the way and drive the pin through and your done. the indention will allow the spring to keep the pin from sliding out under fire.
  16. Hey Larry! Yes from NM. Hot and dry most of the time. Lived a long time in your area ( Gulf Coast ) as a youngster. Really looking forward to this match. It will be the second big pistol match I have shot in. Thanks for the tips. Also looking to purchase a large qty of bullets to practice with. Have any feedback on bullet works bullets? Thanks
  17. first time going to this match. Sounds like it will be great shooting and competition as well. Any tips for a newbie !
  18. Will see you in Raton. Las Vegas is a small town rich in history. There are some natural hot spring baths close to the mountains. 40 to 25 is about the only reasonable way from AZ. might be wet this year again! Hwy 64 is marked as an exit. You can check out the map and take the exit just north of Cimmaron (Maxwell), angle north to 64, go right to the Whittington Center. It is a little faster. Good luck !
  19. For two years now RM3G has been great. The RO's have all worked hard and put on a good match. A special thanks to the Miller brothers, and we will miss you this year. I hope you will be shooting the match ! This will be my third year shooting this match. The weather will be tricky this year, as our monsoon season is just arriving. Some mornings will bring cool weather. Last year we shot stages in the rain, mud, and fog at times. About rifle targets across valleys and downhill, I checked zero upon arrival and had no problem with the 330 approx yard targets. My AR15, 20", acog, 62 gr federal was shooting pretty flat out to 300. It is zerod at 100 yds, I never had to hold over steels to get the hit. The terrain can be rough and the stages are always fun. The Whittington Center is truly a world class shooting facility.
  20. Hey ! Great job to All. I am sure I will see some of the tri gun competitors in Raton soon !
