  1. Aircooled6racer has the right idea. Ther are several people that can coat your slide or just the sights in a very very durable flat black. It costs more but doesn't quit. What is the cost of a blown shot at a match because you cheaped out on your sights. God forbid you need it for real, then the cost is irrelevant. ed
  2. Lead bullet lube is generally the source of the smoke. Different powders can change the smoke level a little but the bullet lube in generally the key. I shot a match last weekend in Erie Pa and the smoke in a couple of the bays from 2 guys who were shooting lead was amazing. They could not see the targets. The sun was from the front 45 degrees to the left and the wind was zero. It was really bad as you could even see the smoke from win white box 9. The lead was a smoke screen. Generally lead is OK there are just some times it comes back to bit you. ed
  3. SVI Single Stack -- no mods just the way it comes is just fine. I both 9 and 40. The 40 has more rounds ~25K or so. The nine about 10K through it and no broken parts except for the mags from someone else. The mags were replaced and now work great. ed
  4. The Kurt vise is a good idea. I also have Chick vises that work well. Bridgeports are wonderful. I have XLO machines that look like Bridgeports but a a little larger. Parts are more but if you don't use them in a production environment they will last for ever. Get the Bridgeport if you can.
  5. I think if you look at the results from the US nationals you will see that there are really only very few people that can shoot a 95% in large scale competition. Most of the GM's out there are very good but not necessarily at the very top. Most sports have a pyramid shaped result structure. There are only a very few at the top. ed
  6. I shoot ss then I will do a reshoot in L10 same gun same ammo. I shot ss since just before it became provisional. I shoot it at the area's and other major matches. It did shoot the limited nats this year as I could get into the SS nats ed
  7. The new SV sight is really nice. I just got two for different people and they seem to work great and look cool.
  8. What type of press do you use?? I use mostly Dillon and an old Texan and in both cases I size the out side of the case then expand in the side of the case either when I flare/bell the case mouth or when I swage the primer pocket. I am just wondering. Ed
  9. I have used many powders and bullets. I have found the bullets generally an accuracy issue and then I have used the slowest convient powder and that is based upon what type and condition of barrel you have. Sorry no solid answer but it is, I feel, the correct path. ed
  10. The model 52 is most accurate pistol I have fired. I still have 2 of them but don't shoot them anymore. I am not very accurate any more but the gun is. The fit on the bushing is not tight but zero clearance.
