I am a little slow. I noticed that the Area 8 match is in WV right now August 27, 2021 back in the days of old I shot Area 5 in Handcock County WV. is WV split as to areas or did it move from one to the other?

Sorry I didn’t get back sooner. it is a Dillion. the problem I had was the primer tube base would have to be modified to allow the extra thickness. found a standard thickness old #5 plate a used that. I have another 1050 and super 1050 not this rl1050. It has over 250k rounds though it. I realize some people run that though in a month my older plate in the super 1050 is still running great

I have a question I just received a new #5 / 9mm shell plate. There is a note that this plate is thicker than the old one. There is a warning that the hold down screws on the retainer nut may touch. Not a problem. BUT the ejector arm on the side of the case feed and the primer tube base do not appear to fit. Yes I can modify the parts but am I missing something here.

.356 lead is fine. .355 jacketed is normal. this normal for 9mm and newer 38 super. After 1995-1998 or so most barrels I have seen run bullets like a 9mm. .356 jacketed / .356 lead were generally for a 38 super

Having just run chrono for the umpteent time. I have pulled and/or been there when hundreds of rounds per match were pulled. Never had a round go off. Just saying.

You have two people trying to fix a problem. They both want the mag to ride high. So the mag catch moves the ledge higher. The magazine mfg moves the top of the notch lower. You can fix either one. I would replace the mag release and bring it back to standard height. But it is your $$$$. If you stick with this mag release you are stuck with modifying ALL of your mags .. maybe. It is nice to be able to borrow a mag sometimes and not have a problem. ed

I have used Metalform 10 round 9mm mags since they have been available. I have purchased over 80 for myself and four others. All the mags work great and have no problems. We shoot both USPSA and PPC with the same mags. 26 minimum PPC matches and about 50 USPSA matches per year all winter in both PPC and USPSA it is ejecting unto concrete floors. That is about 5 years of use. No failures attributed to mags in that time. Having said that we took 2 sets or complete mag replacements to get to this point. I bugged Metalform for the mags and got either pre-production or first production. They had some issues that were promptly and politely fixed as they occurred. Sense then no issues. This are used in STI Trojan, Colt 1991A1, Springfield and a Colt 1911 all in 9MM. The mags work great in all of our guns. Ed USPSA NUMBER B16 look at the number single stack classifier scores. I know I suck as a shooter but I do it a lot.

I think you will find the Federal 148 grain HBWC only run 500-700 FPS. in most guns. They will generally not lead. If you push the HBWC up to 800-900 FPS they may/will give you fairly heavy leading. If you use a 158 grain bullet and just make minor you will need a velocity of 791 FPS minimum. Generally 840-860 would be considered reasonable for competition to make minor with a sufficient reserve.

What type of firearm? I have used Blue Dot .. AA#7.. AA#9 .. N350 .. 3N38 .. 3N37 with 135 and 124 and 115 bullets. I depends on what you are trying to do. If you are trying major revolver I would go to 147 G bullets. With either Blue Dot or AA#7 but I probably would end up with N350. Blue Dot does not meter as well and AA#7 is not quite as clean but either of them are less $$ and more available. I have NO load data to revolver just auto.

I would rather have the NEW 627 shot in 9MM. It makes minor, its short and I have a bunch of once fired single lot brass.

I wish it were a little later in the year because the first weekend in May can and has been wet. MCB it is just under 10 hours from your house to Barry at speed limit +8.

It may be the end of life as we know it BUT. For a few rounds you may not get into trouble. The gun generally will head space on the extractor. I would not do this for many, or truly any rounds. If by accident you put a 9MM in a 38 Super or Supercomp you will live but don't take the chance. I have done it and am typing with both hands but do bet that way. ed

Why not run a firearm that is more difficult to load but easier to miss with. I am doing it that way.

They are all fools if they switch to revolver. I am switching just to see how poorly I can do in yet another division.

I have a 327. With rp 38 brass at 50 yards off bags it will consistently hit a 8 in plate ie 8 out of 8. That is with .356 142 g lead from years ago, .357 160 g from an old super, .355 147g MG, 160 lead from years ago. What is working for me is most any heavy (140+) bullet seems to hold a 6" or better group at fifty yards. Standing I can hold a 6" group at 50 feet but the gun works great. If I were going to shoot PPC I would be looking at better bullets but what I am going to shoot,USPSA, and as great a shot s I am, not at all, I will stick with all the old junk I have then buy 142 MG once I prove them out.

4 mag pouches on my belt and 6 mags total. 1 loader 1 in the gun 4 on my belt Single stack major 4 years and only once needed the last one in my pocket and that only because I missed the forth one on my belt.

Mcb guns smoke too much . If you switch to jacketed bullets you will shoot faster with the 8 round gun.

mcb I will have you know I shot 6 stages with a revolver in the last 21 years and 1 match before that. Ha now that I have a 327 I will have to shoot more round gun.

Dcloudy good luck on 6 shot arrays. But matches can be set up so it is not just stand here shoot this Stand there shoot that. Present a problem and let the shooter solve he problem.

Dcloudy777 this sound like Paldin scoring. Back in the 80 and early 90 you could see it sometimes.

I bought a 327trr8 just for USPSA. Haven't shot a wheel gun in 20 years. I think after Area 8 I will shoot this for a while.

I also would check your moon clips and make sure they are not bent or otherwise allowing the round to spring when hit. That can and does reduce the impact on the primer. I had this problem and changed moon clip from what to what I don't remember but it made a big difference and Winchester still worked.

I am waiting. I just bought a 327 S&W and now trying to figure out how to make it fun on 9mm brass. Silly I know but silly I am.

I have had different bullets that would not group at 25 yards. I could not keep them on an USPSA metric target at 25 yards and then mag change and better than a 4" group with me still standing there. The gun and the shooter can and do make a big difference but you can have bullets that just don't work in your gun.
