  1. Has anyone tested the accuracy of their G17 and G34 with the same ammo? If so, how do they compare?
  2. I had a problem with the ram showing movement front to back. Once that was diagnosed as the problem , Dillon sent me an RMA number and off it went to Dillon for rebuild. What I received in return looked like a new machine body. In my case I shipped it to Dillon and then picked it up while I wintered in Phoenix and broughht it back with me.
  3. Which brand of speedloaders work with these speedloader holders?
  4. For an accurate light load I use 3.8 gr. HS-700X and Rem 1.5 behind the 185 gr. Star LSWCHP at ca 710 fps (you may require a lighter recoil spring). This is a very accurate load which I have tested out to 25 yards and it's easy on the wrist.
  5. Baer45, At what velocity are you shooting the 115 gr. plated bullets? I have found that you cannot push the plated bullets above ca 1050-1100 fps without experiencing some problems. I prefer the 147 gr. plated bullets in my 9mm at ca 900 fps. With plated bullets you also have to be very careful that the crimping station just removes the bell from the case and does not crack the plating. quote name='Baer45' date='Oct 28 2008, 11:00 PM' post='845696'] I have been trying to get an accurate target load with Copper plated 115 gr. bullets without success. I am having to change reccomended overall length to avoid ejection problems in my 1911's. Can anyone reccomend a fairly proven bullet wirght/brand and recipe that I can try? After spending hours over crono and trying to get right crimp, etc. with cooper plated bullets it dawned on me the forum could save me a lot of time effort and $$$. Should I shoot good lead bullets? I just do not want to drop velocity so low I am not shooting to sites and have to get into a lot of spring changing, etc. Thanks for any help...Court
  6. I have alwys used 2.8 gr. Bullseye and Rem 1.5 primer behind the Remington 148 gr. LHBWC with outstaning results in either a S&W Model 52 or several Colt and S&W revolvers. The bullet should be seated flush with the mouth of the case and a very slight roll crimp applied - too much crimp will reduce accuracy.
  7. I am still using 38 Special REM-UMC headstamped brass from the late 1950's and 45 ACP military brass with early to mid 1960's headstamps. I have to admit that I am encouinteing some case splits during reloadoing of that old 1950's 38 Special brass - in those bygone days it was reloaded with an old Star or RCBS press without the benefit of case cleaning.
  8. jhgtyre, Where is the second ICORE match in the Phoenix area. I know that there is one at Rio Salado where is the other and when? Tony From my very casual observations, it appears that the ICORE shooters who don't shoot USPSA are somewhat uncomfortable with (1) iron sights, and (2) major loads. I guess in my mind there is no reason to try to make USPSA Revo more like ICORE. If you want to shoot your ICORE gear, go find an ICORE match! [emphasis added - ld] That's what I do every now and then. We are lucky here (in Phoenix) we have two ICORE matches per month. I get most of my wheel gun itch scratched shooting those. -ld
  9. I have used Metalform 9mm and 38 Super magzines in both a Dan Wesson 1911 and Springfield 1911 in 9mm. They have functiioned flawlessly for me with drop free ejection. I have also tried a few MecGar mags in the same calibers and they are also flawless performers.
  10. However it's done - having another revolver class for 8 shot revolvers in USPSA would be welcome! One could expect two classes: REV-6 and REV-8
  11. I use VV N-310 for light loads with 230 gr. plated and jacketed bullets. 3.5 to 3.7 gr. N-310 works well for steel plate shoots.
  12. For high pressure rounds like 9mm and 40 S&W in semi auto I toss the case into the scrap heap after 4 reloads. With the mild loads in staright walled revolver brass (38 Special, 45 ACP ) I keep reloading until the case splits or developps a crack at the lip.
  13. With LSWC bullets the crital dimension is not the OAL but the dimension from base of cartridge to shoulder of the bullet. Thiu requires adjustment so that ca. 1mm of lead shoulder is exposed. Once you find the correct length for your bullet shape you can readilly replicate it.
  14. I use 3.4 to 3.6 gr. of WST, a nice clean burning and mild load.
  15. You might want to switch to W-231 with the 147 gr lead bullets. The 14th Ed WW Reloading Manual lists the folowing data for the 147 gr. cast lead flat point in 9mm Luger: 3.3 gr. W-231 = 865 fps = 29000psi 3.5 gr. W-231 = 905 fps = 32100 psi I can vouchfor the accuracy of the above loads in several 9mm pistols.
  16. What level of accuracy are users experiencing with the M&P9PRO at 50 feet and 25 yards?
  17. Thanks all for the suggestioins. I'll start with either the Comp Tac or Blade Tec and then go for the CR Speed. Tony
  18. I don';t believe that you will wear our a set of carbide dies sizing cleaned cases. I don't see enough of a significant difference in loading "stress" between the lubed and unlubed straight wall cases.
  19. What are people using for normal and speed holsters for the S&W M&P9PRO ?
  20. Why are you using case lube? With carbide sizing dies I have never found it necessary to use any case lube. Lube inside the case can cause poor powder ignition. Assuming that you had a proper powder fill the presence of case lube inside the case could lead to poor ignition and the cause of your squibb. I avoid case lube like the plague.
  21. I added a Luepold-Gilmore red dot sight to the S&W 327 JM and shot a local match. I was very pleased with the guns performance. It seemed to get back on target with less "bounce" than my 627. With the lower power loads I can shoot an entire match without feeling any pains in the wrist. It's a keeper!
  22. I prefer a much smaller platform - either the S&W 642 or the Kahr PM-9. Both fit easilly into a pocket or pocket holster and work well with any clothing.
  23. I prefer the S&W Model 642 or Kahr PM9 for truly concealed carry. Both fit nicely into a pocket holster and can be worn with the lightest of clothing.
  24. It's difficult to beat the CZ-75 in terms of reliability or ergonomics. The Glocks have great relaibility but for my hand not the best ergonomics. The S&W M&P9 has great ergonomics but I have no personal experience at presnt (soon to be corrected with acquisition of S&W M&P9PRO) with reliability.
