  1. check our blog: http://yorkpistol.blogspot.com/ our monthly local match in York is a high round count, well run affair. typically the second sunday of the month.
  2. PS Sean is a much nicer person than me. Godspeed over in the sandbox buddy. email me your APO and my kids scout troop will send you a box of goodies. We'll miss you. Hurry back.
  3. I know the RO well, [edit] If that were me, I can't say that I would not have freaked out. [edit]
  4. I was one of the RO's that shot Jayson's shotgun (thanks Jayson). I nonchalantly stepped into the box and shot the speed shoot in 2.77 with that FN. Like a second faster than with my 1100. My 1100 has puked in it's last match. That gun NEVER finished a match without a jam. Anyone need a parts gun ?
  5. I was CRO on that stage and i scored that target a miss. Walkthrough indicated one hole in the bird to score. I advised the shooter to appeal and called the RM. I'm glad he won.
  6. I have had terrible trouble making my 1100 run for IPSC. OTOH, my 870 works great and I shoot it very well. My 1100 limited gun is an OLD 1100 with a big heavy wood stock. I replaced the 30 Inch trap barrel with a 25 inch remington barrell with rem chokes. I also had my smith put an easy loader on it. After the last match, I bought a composite stock and forend for it and it lightened the gun up considerably. I do not use a sidesaddle. I load out of a shell belt cinched up high on my torso. I put the stock on my shoulder and look down at the follower, grabbing 2 shells at a time. I find the side saddle really unbalances the gun and makes a heavy gun that much heavier. I have ghost ring sights on my 870 and LOVE them. But on the 1100 I bought a set of Firesights, fibre optic rifle sights, and still have that nice high fiber optic on the front. But the rear broke almost immediately. So i replaced it with some true glo rifle set up that attached to the rib with 4 torx bolts and I have the elevation screw bottomed out making the sight very stable. this setup works. the gun will put four slugs on a teacup at 50 yards. I've had feeding problems from day one with the choate mag extension. I was RO'ing the shotgun match at summerblast and my partner took my gun apart to look at the follower, noticed it was all chewed up and sure enough, there is a long sharp seam in the choate mag extension. I'm sanding that bad boy down with a dowell jig i made for my drill. I also ordered a green hi viz follower. The 'combat' bolt handle is too big and i never saw the reason for it. It got yanked out of the gun deer hunting in upstate NY last year. The factory bolt handle is small and hurts your hand when the timer induced adrenaline dump numbs your fine motor skills. So i just paid $26 for one of these from brownells: So far, I broke the link (tuning fork thingy) and the forend support. replaced them at Brownells. Now the feed latch isn't staked, but seems operable as it it is held into place by the trigger plate pin. Anyone know if this is a problem ? Also, The rails along the side of the receiver are sharp as razor blades. I run my 1100 dry, steel wooling the mag tube and seals after every 250-500 rounds. All inall, even though I got the gun for $300, I would have been better off to buy a tac 4 or competition master. But hey, if I did that, I wouln't have a box of parts and armorer ecxperience with the 1100.

    Raid On House

Radley Balko from the Cato institute has a blog called the agitator. Check it out. http://www.theagitator.com/ I'm a big supporter of law enforcement in general, but we have too many laws and too many militarized police units. When you have a SWAT team, you use your SWAT team. period. And SWAT only knows one way to roll... HEAVY. If you were in a hostage situation, you'd be damn glad to see a SWAT team. if you are the wrong address in a no knock raid, not so much. Sounds to me like you were lucky. Read Radley's blog for hundreds of examples of people who were not so lucky.
  8. If you buy the dillon, you should buy it here from brian. i bopught a 650 here and the service has been tremendous. plus, he provides an excellent forum and he supports USPSA by generously donating to the prize table.
  9. there are millions of shooters in the nation that own these weapons. if we let the sheeple disarm us, then we deserve to lose them. molon labe that is all.
  10. I have a 10 inch ruber mk II bbl as my bullseye gun and I love that gun. 10,000 rounds smoothed out the crappy ruger trigger quite nicely. i also installed one of these speed strippers in the gun, so cleaning is a breeze with gun scrubber and a boresnake. http://www.majesticarms.com/ruger22.html i also have one of those walther p 22's i boiught for my 9 year old. he is small and this gun was the smallest i could find. but, im ditching it an have many many complaints. the gun will not group with any kind of ammo. very frustrating. the safety works backward of a 1911, so it is useless for training imo. we pretend it's a glock and has no safety. i don't let him draw it from a holster. you cannot drop the hammer without inserting an empty mag, so it is impossible to practice the ipsc manual of arms. im not about to start removing parts from the gun as it is used by a child. thank god he grew and i can dump that piece of junk. im in the market for a glcok 22 conversion right now. !
  11. somebody got shot at their match ? im suptised the club is still going. would you shoot at a match that uses 360 range and has had an RO shot ? sounds a little sketchy to me.
  12. yeah, they're great. little swinging gong/plate that hangs of a rod suspened in a saw horse like stand. that what you're talking about ? like to get them swinging then stop them with a bullet
  13. do you guys really lube your tube, piston and piston seal ? i clean my 1100 tube and piston with steel wool and run it with a little graphite dry lube. i think the clp or lube mixes up with gas ejaculate (haha) and can cause jams. also, with my 1100, i run heavy 7.5's, 3 3/4 dram field loads for clay birds or steel, and federal LE buck and slugs where needed. it will run reliably with lighter loads, but the recoil difference is really negligible so run the heavy loads at matches.
  14. i sleep on a 4in foam 'topper' on a rock hard mattress below. i find it is the perfect combination for my back. i also love my memory foam pillow.
  15. I believe what i was seeing was a different jam. in these cases the shell never makes it into the magazine and the rim was jammed between the bottom of the carrier with the shell most of the way into the mag tube...
  16. i just figured it out. it's not the hammer being down, the slide must be all the way forward. if it comes back even a tiny bit, you cannot get a shell past the carrier. interesting that nobody figured it out on the line. i try not to let my shotty run dry, so i personally never had this failure. but, i could see how this couild get you killed in a gunfight !
  17. I must have witnessed this jam at least 5 times on the summer blast shotgun side match. Competitor loses count (we had a 5 round limit for pump... not my idea)drops hammer on empty chamber, immediately attempts to load gun without racking slide and the shell jams between the lifter and magazine tube. I have not been able to find any documentation on this jam anywhere on the internet and I'm curious if it applies to flexi tab guns only, all 870's or whether I was imagining things ! Some competitors used my 870, but it did happen on at least two other guns. A few of these stoppages were quite difficult to clear. One competitor drew his knife and pried the shell out. I tried pushing the slide well forward, no luck. The only cure was to pull the shell out, rack the slide and begin the reload again with the hammer cocked.
  18. i have a model 37. it was my first gun. i grew up in upsatate ny. you either got remington from illion or an ithaca model 37 issued to you at age 16. ithacagun just went our of business again. i think the remains were bought by remington. surely, the model 37 will be relegated to history as remington will not endanger their 870 franchise.
  19. you'll never sink that choke with his arm in there. sweep him, punish him with strikes and finish with a mata leo after he rolls over and gives you his back !
  20. so long as it was not overpriced, i think it would eventually become the standard for revolver division. i expect smith would sell a bunch of them.
  21. I've had great luck just using a little DAWN dishwashing liquid. Rub it on, rinse with cold water, air dry, light polish. repeat as necessary.
  22. they are both solid revolvers. trigger might be a little better on the smith. i have a 686 and love the gun. there is a miculek grip for the L frame smith, and that to me is reason enoght to take the smith over the ruger.
  23. I bet you can get at least 1700 for it with a set of mags
  24. i did a little search and perused thru some of the heartburn this issue has caused for production shooters. IMO, the '1st shot DA' rule has outlived its usefulness. if your gun can be carried cocked and locked, then you ought to be able to holster it cocked and locked for IPSC.
