Decent YT review after 300 rounds found the same issues with 3-4 different rounds (115 - 147)and different mags. Trigger on that particular sample was 5 lbs. and not quite 1911 quality. This was a purchased gun, not provided by SA. I've got 800+ rounds through my Staccato C2 without issue; sample of one of course but YT reviews seem to support excellent out of the box performance. I did lower the trigger to 3.75 lbs. which is fine IMO for AIWB.

When does the minute start? I presume at make ready which usually occurs as soon as the shooter steps in the box. It's not unusual for folks shooting two guns to take a good junk of time just to get to the point where they can take a sight picture with the first gun. Good Tier 1 matches have the score keeping announcing the next two shooters up; a great deal of time can be wasted just getting the next shooter to the box, particularly for those matches that don't paint between shooters (Yes, the rules do "require" same).

My competition 9mm 1911 breaks at 3 lbs. My AIWB Staccato C2 breaks at 3-3/4 lbs. Between thumb safety, trigger finger discipline and otherwise good SW I don't have a problem with a relatively light trigger. Lower than 3 lbs. I would see a point since the point of no return pressing out would arrive pretty darn early. A 3lb. trigger I can manage very, very well.

Makes good sense. I went with a CHPWS on my Staccato C2. No problems other than running a Holosun/PA ACSS the rear sight is just above the bottom of the glass. I'm not concerned about backup irons, but would be a no-go for LE. My wife has a Suarez plate on her full-size 1911 suitable for RMR and the Holoson 507C class - no backup irons however.

Are to set on the Dawson adapter? Obviously, other options out there.

I don't particularly like to back away from the box because the only way the shooter an R&R his rimfire/PCC rifle to to spread the scabbard out on the table and back up 2-3 feet to get the muzzle started in the scabbard without using his/her off hand. It's just very awkward gun handling IMO.

My wife started to develop light strikes with her Mamba-X. Her backup didn't exhibit this issue so I swapped bolts: problem solved. I call VQ about this and they sent me an FP; good of them to do this. Shortly thereafter, I mean really shortly as in 1000 rounds, the problem reoccurred. Comparing the unused FP with this new example of light strikes it's obvious that the tip has eroded. Anyone else experience this? I have a Tandemkross Ti FP in my parts bin and I'm going to give this a try.

Just bought a Staccato C2 for carry and miscellaneous competition. The 16 round mags that came with the gun are extremely easy to load, the two 17 round MBX mags I bought are hard to load even with a loader. I assume this is normal, but the factory Staccato mags have a very good reputation; that being the case why does MBX need that monster spring?

This instance of a sight picture draw before each string is unique in my experience, but as you indicate it is allowed with a reasonable interpretation of the rule. Also annoying.

Running a holstered gun the rules specifically allow taking a "sight picture" prior to a string. How far does this allowance extend? For example, is a competitor allowed to reholster and draw to take a practice draw on the first target between strings? Not something I would do, but I've had a shooter on my squad who requested permission of the RO to do so.

I'm asking for a shooter with out of this world hearing. She is going to try 30 NRR muffs with and without foam plugs. To add insult to injury she is shooting rimfire and some of the posts at one match have rubber dampers to prevent the 1/4" steel plates from being knocked off the hook by energetic factory rounds out of a PCC. The rubber appears to deaden the sound a bit. Eventually she will find a solution that shuts out all squad conversation and learn to trust her sight picture.

Not asking for myself: Has anyone found a setup (e.g., foam plugs and passive muffs) that dramatically attenuates background conversation while still permitting steel to be heard?

Yes, it's installed correctly although I don't want to re-examine prior to sending it back to Kidd. I'm surprise Kidd couldn't duplicate the problem. Today I slow-fired the barreled action without the stock so I could see the hammer strut. The trigger is being reset even in the case of an ignition failure.

There isn't even a light primer strike on the rounds that fail to fire. This after Kidd went through the gun. I'm baffled that they didn't experience the issue. We took the rifle to the range today and experienced this failure twice. The trigger feels fine during this failure cycle; it does reset, or feels as though it reset. It's bizarre that the failure is associated with the bolt and yet I'm positive the firing pin/FP channel were cleaned and the FP spring is in good shape. All I can do is send the rifle back. I wish I had a spare bolt, but I know from my original diagnostic work this same rifle works just fine with the bolt out of our other rifle.

Update: Received rifle back from Kidd. Went to the range yesterday and experienced exactly the same issue: Couldn't get through a mag (any mag) without an ignition failure regardless of ammo type. The chambered round has no firing pin mark and yet the trigger feels the same even for these failed ignition events. I'll pass on what Kidd has to say, but I can't imagine their QC wouldn't have experienced this issue which was well described in the notes I provided.

Exact where I've arrived. We also have two Kimber HD Pro Carry II converted to 9mm, one with optic. I may shoot that in Steel challenge and the Staccato in the occasional USPSA or IDPA match. The Kimber actual feels better balanced than a full-size and since it's direct milled the dot is very low over the bore; I don't have to hunt for the dot with so many miles behind an iron sight 1911.

I'm thinking about transition from my 9mm 1911 used primarily in Steel Challenge and occasional USPSA matches to Carry Optics. The white sand backgrounds in combination with white targets and fixed focus eyes post cataract surgery can make iron sights a bit of a challenge. I don't need anything exotic, but the grip angle needs to track a 1911 (I carry a Staccato C w/ optics), the TPW should be no more than 4 lbs, and I'd like to be able to do some tuning to allow softer loads for Steel Challenge; I'd give most weight to the trigger but don't expect it to be 1911-like. I don't have a post-1911 brand loyalty. It appears only DA (hammer) and striker guns are allowed in SC, might be different for USPSA

UPDATE: disassembled the powder die assembly. The body has an actual crack. No doubt running an autodrive for well over 100K rounds can cause something like this.

I'm leaking powder and while I'm not sure the sleeve is at fault there is obviously a great deal of slop in the powder measure travel. Powder just started to leak after maybe 150K rounds. Not a big deal and I can pull the sleeve from a second unit so I don't have to recalibrate. Doesn't seem unreasonable but things went from essentially no leakage to a great deal running with my Mark VII. I don't see any powder on top of the powder bar FWIW.

At one time we had six SA SS Loaded in 9mm. All had generous chambers. Just call Springfield and get an RMA.

As a single stack shooter I'd be fine with combining Lim,Prod and SS. I've always assumed that manufacture sponsorship was the impediment particularly if USPSA insists that the USPSA and SCSA divisions remain the same. PF would be a non-issue other than I'd have to break out my chronograph which hasn't seen action in years. Regarding OL: no movement would be fine, the three second penalty would be fine. Let the one person who believes the penalty should be 4 seconds come forward or forever hold your peace. No one is going to win the stage at WSSC with a three second penalty.

I've gotten my RF100 to work on Winchester, Federal, Remington, CCI and (gag) S&B small pistol primers. The Fiocchi sizing seems a bit inconsistent and some inverted primers fail to drop just prior to the clear plastic guide. This obviously results in subsequent inverted primers making it into the primer tube. I have an order for CCIs which is delayed but the vendor has offered to switch out for Fiocchi. The Fiocchi work just fine in my Steel Challenge 1911 but I'm hesitant. If push comes to shove I'm only loading about 500/week and could afford to watch the RF100 but I'd rather not. Any experience with Fiocchi and RF100?

All components are Kidd. Kidd sells both slick-side and crosshatched bolts.

It's on the way to Kidd. Swapped everything possible and the issue moved with the bolt. The bolt is in perfect order including new extractor/spring (installed after the problem started) and a new firing pin string. The strut doesn't contact the stock; the Blackhawk axiom stocks have a big cavity at that location. Kidd will get the gun back to us in working order. As an aside the one trigger that would not adjust, stuck at about 2.5 lbs, is on it's way back with the action. All the triggers I tried produced the same issue so not a trigger problem. I'll post what Kidd finds.

How is your hearing? I wear hearing aides and I can hear my wife's rimfire hits without turning on my muffs. The distant plates in OL and Showdown can be hard to hear depending on wind and the shape of the bay.
