I have some lighter springs on hand for my P, but even shooting Steel Challenge loads (3.6gr SP behind 125gr) the gun cycles 100% and the dot barely moves. I'll see how the mag release works for me in an upcoming class, but it's definitely extended more than I'm used to (on a stock 1911). I don't care for the fact that if you set the gun down on the left side with mag inserted you can pop the mag out; seldom, if ever done, but maybe some IDPA start condition. FWIW, I never could get gloves to work with a 1911, but no problem with the larger 2011 grip.

A fried was RO'ing a Level 2 match. A competitor took several shots at the stop plate before hitting same and out of frustration raised the muzzle, albeit not to the vertical. My fried is not a certified RO and probably should have consulted with the MD, but cautioned the shooter about the lack of muzzle discipline. The MD must have been in the vicinity, came over and chewed out my friend apparently for saying something to the shooter. I take it that the shooter's actions were not technically a rules violation, but I'd like to get some feedback from the ROs in this forum. Of course the MD could have tried harder to find more certified ROs.

Just using Roundabout Plate 1 what's a reasonable draw time goal for achieving an A classification in CO? There is obviously a range given other shooter abilities, but I'd still like to see what the range might be. I'm running a Staccato P, but at my age the OPN times would be out of reach so I'll just use the CO times as a stake in the ground. If I live long enough there might be a LO division. If I really live long enough some of theses divisions might get consolidated.

My normal winter range gear for Steel Challenge is thermal undershirt, Carhartt shirt, heated vest with an additional coat when I'm not shooting; works fine for mid-30's. None of this works for IDPA with an Appendix draw. I suppose with a very good coat I could wear near summer wear, long sleeve t shirt let's say, while shooting and put the coat on. I'd have to buy another coat for this purpose as my clothing is all geared to layers.

Title says it all. I'd be OK with Blade Tech, but they don't make such. C&G and Hammer Armament seem to have something. Any other vendors out there? Recommendations. Need Tek-Lok/BOSS interface, but that should be available in anything kydex.

The brass in question was either from a major-loaded gun or someone doing proof loads. I will reject PPU from now on just 'cause. My current criteria is to drop a fired case into a gauge. If it plunks or just barely protrudes it's good to go, otherwise it's junk. I did have the Barsto barrels reamed slight, but that's to address OAL. Anyway, lesson learned.

From now on I'm separating out any incidental pickups. I'm shooting sub-minor so my fired brass actually fits in a case gauge. The PPU brass, for example, won't event gauge if I just run the brass through the de-capping and sizing press stages. After so many rounds made and a fair amount of range pick-up I've never had this happen. Learn something new every day.

Loading 9mm with a 1050/Mark VII, mixed cases. Haven't changed the setup in 100K rounds +-. I do use some pickup brass although most of what I shoot is recycled from my practice sessions, maybe 20-30 times. I'm getting bulged cases particularly PPU, S&B, and SVT with the occasional Win and Speer. I did swap out the sizing die with no change in result. Is there perhaps someone with an old Glock using this particular bay or has Glock bulge gone the way of the DoDo? The rounds I shot today had all been checked and if in question I tested in a Barsto barrel identical to the installed barrel. It's not an OAL issue and does appear to be a bulge at the case base.

The local match is mostly 10 guns and often just 5 shooters. I frankly don't enjoy this format very much. San Luis Obispo was a 1-gun match, max 10 guns/squad. In the day, pre-Covid, they would fill the 8 squads. When I've looked at PS more recently things have really dropped off.

Back in the day my wife and I would shoot the monthly match in San Luis Obispo. First to last shot, 8 stages, 10guns/squad (1 gun/shooter) 3-1/2 hours out the door. The guns were 90+ % centerfire. One of our local 4-stage matches, ~ 10 guns/squad, mostly rimfire folks shooting two guns, is taking over 2-1/2 hour. This match only paints after the squad has shot. The only thing I can come up with is the bit of additional delay involved with rimfie versus centerfire handgun. Anyone seen a metric for match length that takes squad size, mix of firearms, etc. into account? It's way too hot to spend an extra 45 minutes in the sun, but maybe that's just me.

Found early notes in my way-back machine. N320 ~ SP + 0.2 gr. Close enough for a starting point. Also found a bit more SP in my powder closet.

I've looked thoroughly throughout the site and can't find a table with the current peak times. Can someone point me to the location? Nothing on a site should be that hard to find.

It's been several years since I transitioned for N320 to SP, but I've got 12 lbs. of N320 on hand to use. I can't find my old notes, but as I recall the load difference for a given PF wasn't more than 0.2 gr (I can't call whether + or -!). My normal Steel Challenge load for a 9mm gov't 1911 is 3.3 gr SP, 3.5gr for a Commander, again for SC. I can start with the identical powder charge, but does anyone who map the N320 to SP transition recall the charge difference?

My wife uses her Mamba-X in steel challenge. It's got a very good 2.5+- lb. trigger, but she recently started running her Kidd 10/22 again with its 1.5 lb. trigger. Consensus is that 2.5 is about as good as the basic 22/45 ignition geometry supports. Any gunsmith out there that can do better? Barring that what are there options for a purpose-built 1911-22 that doesn't weigh more than the Mamba?

Would have been my next approach after I got tired of holding up an umbrella. I looked at the spiffy GR gadget but didn't want to spend the money (x2 Mamba-X) since it's not really a match issue and the performance would be limited at some sun angles. It's hitting winter here so I'm not wishing the sun away.

My wife and are are practicing later in the day with the sun basically at 4:30 or so. The sun reflects off the rear lens creates a bright red splash on the body of the c-more and is incredibly distracting. Any suggestions? There are a few gadgets out there, but they don't appear to address this problem. Worst case I'll hold an umbrella while my wife shoots. No problem with my trusty iron sights.

Won't hesitate to do so. Just looking for a DIY quick turn fix attempt. Have at least one C-more on an unused gun I can use.

One of wife's C-More Railways has a dot-size artifact slightly displaced from the actual dot. It's in focus so I'm thinking a spec on the emitter (in the focal plane). I've tried to clean that area but I suspect there might be a cover glass with the actually spec being inaccessible. Any first hand experience out there? These sights have been very heavily used. I do have a spare emitter to try but not much time before tomorrow's match.

I don't know if the Springfield Loaded SS is still available, but such gun with tool steel trigger job and appropriate springs will do the job. I would also replace the adjustable rear sight - all the Springfields we used in competition would see the pivot pin eventually fall out. The only disadvantage to a fixed rear sight is you might have to change the front sight height.

I'm asking because when I run comparable below factory loads through my Staccato C2 and Springfield 9mm 1911 the C2 sight picture is steady as a rock while I get some excursion with the Springer. I've run all manner of recoil springs in my 1911 and it may be that I need a slightly stouter spring, but I've never fired an iron sight gun that exhibited so little recoil. I wouldn't mind trying the RM in the 1911 and I've seen advertisements that said "some fitting may be required" for non-STIs, but looking for personal experience.

No evidence whatsoever that the bolts were different or had changed. The bolt I gave up on had seen 10's of thousands of rounds with no sign of wear whatsoever.

I have the faulty bolt still in hand. Been too busy to send back to Kidd; they were more than willing to ship me a replacement bolt so no problem with Kidd. It's a complete mystery since both rifles work with one of the original bolts and the new bolt. Alien influence?

There is an earlier thread about AIWB discussing the pros/cons of allowing same similar to USPSA. If you're running a gun that is forced into Open (e.g., Staccato C2) AOWB would be legal as in no restrictions on holster position. Really wouldn't affect the draw much although I'd want to use steel clips versus the snap loops I run AIWB. Will make more sense using my C2 in the occasional local match if I can run the same holster position I use for carry.

Is SC destined to be nearly aligned with USPSA with regard to divisions? The current entries to the Idaho State Championship. This may not be typical of other parts of the country but it sure looks like something can (should?) be done with the CO/LTD/PROD/SS collection. LTD, PROD, and SS shooters must all be fans of iron sights or of the specific platform they shoot. What's the rationale for not combining these three divisions with allowance for features akin to those available in limited. I don't shoot Production, but the allowable changes seem to just fall short of compensators(?). Is there a sponsorship angle that keeps these divisions, inertia, disinterest or other?
