I totally gipped him on the Unica spring delivery. I'm using them myself, and I like the "light" one the best in both minor and major PF long slide guns. They are too long to work well in the short slide guns. There are also "medium" and "hard" springs.

    I don't know exact weights because I don't have a spring tester.

My thoughts will come in a later video,  after a grips roundup and some general stuff. I asked Eric Stauffer about them and he does plan to carry them bit warned me they wear out quickly.

I prefer a 6 lb long slide spring in my Stock 2s. That is the same as the 8lb long slide spring.

It is my undersanding that all ‘wolff’ springs are marked long slide.

i only shoot AUS tanfos so always got these and Hennings site says they all say long slide.

  2. I shot the gun for about 400 rounds last week, and going to do some more tomorrow.

Trigger is exactly 5lbs 4 oz and it can be seen in my instagram @Garcia_IPSC

It pops S&B with no problems, I was really impressed! Titan + BOLO + PD YELLOW spring.

I brought with me also some questionable ammo just to push the limits and even then it went off and only 3 light strikes on really bad seated primers. I'll take it.

If I wanted to be absolute careless with my reloading and get 100% reliability without worrying about gauging my ammo, the Pink PD Spring will probably make the gun 100% with ammo that would not pass the plunk test, high primers etc. That is a guess, as I do not have a pink spring yet but will try one when I have a chance (none in stock in Canada).

Also, will be getting the PD firing pin and PD firing pin spring, that will certainly increase reliability.

After trying PD parts I have to say that extreme springs and parts are very mediocre in comparison. I hope PD starts making absolute everything that is made under the extreme brand, I know it will be superior.

  3. reviving this old thread.
Thank Joanna and Joe for their awesome products, they were unobtainable here in Canada but I recently was able to get them through my TANFO rep Freedom Ventures.

I am happy to report a 5lbs 4 ounces trigger with a chrome tanfo with YELLOW PD mainspring and their reduced power springs. These gun has a trigger job done by myself, however I spent 1/3 of the time polishing it as I did my previous one and this is one is 10 times better. The luck of the draw, some frames are harder than others...

I took it to the range yesterday and I popped S&B primers no problem! with a 5lbd trigger??????!!!!! unreal.

Thank you guys! :) @Garcia_IPSC on IG, gonna make a post about this.

  4. I went full on and reduced the bolo by 0.020 and got to the very edge, haha. I wasnt planning on doing that much but it just happen. DA goes perfectly all the way back now - awesome trigger.

just put a yellow pd hammer spring, to try and light egd fp spring. Trigger is 5 lbs 6on

    let’s see what happens.

  5. Going to revive this as a few other threads in regard to the bolo have disappeared, not sure why. Also the instructions on PD website are gone so here is my question:

I installed PD BOLO in one of my guns and to my surprise it was a drop in installation, it all works, I do need to increase DA throw but the trigger is operational as is...

Am I missing anything else? I was expecting a more laborious installation but it was rather easy.... did I get lucky????

It is a 2017 gun with all extreme parts and titan hammer.

I just picked up my Limited AKA "Patriot Defense | Optimized Tanfoglio Limited Special Edition" from my FFL this afternoon. Patriot doesn't list this pistol as such, I just borrowed the name from their Stock 2 version as this one had all of the same stuff done to it. It also has their titanium guide rod and Xtreme grips (blue). It is a 2018 model and is marked "Limited Custom" on the slide. Need I say that it is a good looking pistol?

A few things I noticed that others have mentioned:

The Xtreme grips are very thin. We'll see if I like them or not, but the gun does feel good in my hands.

The trigger pull is very light after all the work has been done by Patriot Defense. Probably 2 pounds. It is also smooth with minimal pre travel or over travel. Very very nice, but obviously not like a 1911/2011.

The thumb safety is not crisp while engaging, but does have a nice click while disengaging. It isn't easy for me to engage it due to the shape of the left side pad yet the pad is about perfect for disengagement. I will pobably reprofile it anyway as my support hand is riding under it and it is not dull.

Even though it is brand new, it is very smooth cycling and there is no play between the slide/frame fit. It is as tight as my STI's when they are locked up. I have a couple other recoil springs (8 and 9 lb) I'll play with as the factory one is probably the 10 pound spring.

I'll shoot it tomorrow and see how well it works and feels, but I suspect it will run and it being a 9mm, recoil will be ridiculous. PD reamed the chamber and the ammo I have loaded for my STI's pass the plunk test. I have 6 magazines with the Henning + 6 base plates and Grams follower. This should be fun.

Slide to frame fit? lol my stock II rattles like crazy, both are the same.

    Are the limited guns tighter???

I actually ran scales when I first got it and I had the worst time keeping those tight. I did use a industrial grade metal super glue to try to keep them from moving but it lasted 1 match. Those grips were too small for me anyway and switched to glue and grit factory wood grips and they have been much much better but still come loose after a while. Maybe its just operator error? Lol

It is my understanding that loctite works by shear stress. It makes the actual part thicker and therefore causing pressure and keeping it in place.
I have 2 different guns, my grips never came loose. I learnt this from another shooter.

You do not install the loctite and then install the screw right away, if you do, it will not last because the loctite came out as you were screwing and you will find the loctite under your grips next time you disassemble your gun.

The way I do it is I pour it on a piece of paper, then I roll the screws on it. You do not need a lot, just a couple of threads wet of locite, then, install the screw , screw in all the way and remove, do this without the grips and use just your fingertips NO TOOLS YET! :), make sure the screw runs straight and without any force and if it does STOP, the screw is not aligned and you are F.... up your screw or your frame.

On the second run, I also run the screw on loctite and then I install firmly. Do not go too tight, you will strip the screw or worse ruin your frame! just use 3 fingers and fingertips to tighten with a short screw driver (SHORT IS KEY as it will provide less leverage for your palm and therefore less torque, that gives enough pressure to tighten without gorilla force... Every time you are doing this task you are making your screw hole bigger so the less you do it (with or without loctite), the better.

Once the loctite dries up it becomes solid (plastic) and it can be melted with a certain temp. Blue requires less than red to melt. I never needed to do this as they come off rather easy when I need it.

My motto is that springs are cheap, buy them all and experiment. Use that 6-10 round rip. Compare splits, muzzle rise and HF. Keep in mind the recoil is affected by both recoil spring and hammer spring. So you have to fine tune one, then the other then the first again.

    Hey John,

I am curious about this, how does the hammer spring affect recoil? ... what do you mean by that?

i think that Stryk 1 is the longer version.?

    and the trigger is o.k.

strike one is the same gun yes, but regardless they are going to release a longer version soon.

the stryke one has a weird magazine release, other than that is a great gun.

    I will wait it out.

ask them if u can get example for free.?

try strike1. same low bore axis and it's the most accurate gun that i ever tried. and price under 1k.

The strike platform is on my list!

I will wait for the longer barrel version of the StrykB.

  11. Wow, I am so glad i dont have to deal with those monkeys.

In Canada I have a great relationship with the dealer. Awesome to deal with.

My stock II came with a cosmetic defect on a barrel and it was replaced under warranty with no issues or second guessing my work.

i have done all my triggers and you cannot affect the timing by polishing, that is simply a lie from an uneducated rep who was regurgitating a Managers speech.

Your barrel is not fitted properly. Both the slugs and peanut (sometimes) need some fitting.

since you are in the US, PD is the way to go.

    cheers

No need to replace the rear sight. (In all probability).  unscrew and remove the elevation screw. Avoid losing the 2 springs!  you will find the set screws that Hold the sight to the gun are loose. Take them out, degrease and clean. Use RED locktite 271 to hold them in place.

Take out the extractor and inspect.  if chipped replace. You may need to adjust tension by removing metal on the square pad. Use the Wolff xtra power spring. DO NOT TRIM. it will be a itch to replace, but they work better.

Add a small oring under the grip screw and use a lot of 241 (wood/plastic/g10) grips or 271 on metal grips.   use a soldering iron to remove the screws in the future .

    What he said!!??????????????

this gas operated gun can use only jacketed bullets and have fixed barrel.  after 30k it will loose accuracy.

in any 1911/2011  u can drop the old  barrel to the garbage and install  new one.

are you referring to the Alien? Could you be more specific as to how you reach to  these conclusions?

    I am honestly asking, thanks

  14. a few of the people I shoot with have brand new Stock II cerakoted from factory. All guns were bought this year and just regular holster use worn the cerakote off the slide.

no way around it, the cerakote is neither corrosive or friction resistant. I have seen a LOT of extreme guns with rusty slides.

Chrome for me thank you very much.

    Cheers

  15. 147 gives you a lot less recoil, you want to choose a powder that burns somewhat slow or it otherwise create more pressure increasing felt recoil.

I was a non believer until I experimented (which took me a long time). A good bullet and good powder combo will make a good load that is accurate and makes PF .

124 are more accurate than 147 at distances but it is negligible if you load your runs properly.

    Good luck.

  16. the shock bottle saved my ass at least 2 times in the last 2 matches. I was able to catch bad ammo before taking it to the match. It already paid for itself when you add the cost of competing and matches fees.

I also got 1st in prod in the last 2 matches. :)

I’m with you @johnbu. A fixed rear sight a feature, not a bug. Adjustable rears are a failure point I don’t desire.

I was one to worry about rear sights but I got over that pretty quickly, they last a long time. for me having the practically to dial a load is a plus, although I do not do it very often, I like that it is there.

If it was a carry pistol, I would certainly look for a fixed set up.
