Not sure if the last message was directed to me or not.
The spring was replaced several times with modified xp springs (cut 1 coils as it was recommended here earlier) . They failed when cut, gun will fail to extract.
Also tried 2 brand new factory springs that also failed. These were uncut.
This is why it took so long to figure out, as it did not make sense that brand new springs from factory would fail.
As per the barrels being reamed: barrel is more reliable now, it takes any ammo length.
Value? Some 2011 (including svi) have the barrel reamed for reliability.
my 2 cents.

Six pages and change the freakin spring.
You would think it is an easy and obvious fix, but when you try 3 different factory springs, brand new and they all fail you start thinking of different options before using an aftermarket spring.
The spring that came with the gun worked for 1000 rounds before failing, the 3 other springs failed a lot quicker (less than 200 rounds). So when you run in a situation like this, why would you assume that changing a spring, when you have already changed it 3 times would fix this issue?
Nobody in this forum would point this out, it amazes me that now it sounds to obvious to some of you? Geniuses...
So yes, 6 pages that are equivalent to 3 months of testing things before finding the culprit that hopefully will help the next shooter with this issue.

Just came back from the range, another 220 rounds tonight. Not a single hiccup.
Looks like I found my solution, as I am over 1000 rounds now without any malfunctions.
Cheers!

good points.
This also happens with the provided screw in the Extreme front sights. It has a little notch/tip and it rubs the barrel.

Long story short, you reamed the chamber & put in a stiff spring & that fixed it??
Curious, is your frame the original style with the thinner trigger guard & the tang that curls upward?
My 9mm's (2) are the newer style and have been pretty much no worries, recently bought a 40 with the old style frame. Looking at the 40 magazine opening, the casting of the frame was very sloppy and there is a very visible bump on one side of the opening (surprised they let it leave the factory like that - would not have bought it if I had the chance to inspect it first - but I'll fix it with a dremel) , and fitting a bolo to that 40 was something I gave up on (after destroying one) and let Patriot Defense figure out.
Both of mine are 2017 models.
Reaming the chamber did not solve the issue, the gun continued to fail with a reamed chamber and stock extractor spring or CUT XP spring (as it was recommended earlier on this thread).
My solution is solely based on replacing the spring for an uncut, unmodified XP WOLFF spring. For searching purposes on this thread let me be very clear:
**** THE GUN HAS HAD NO MALFUNCTIONS IN OVER 500 ROUNDS WITH AN UNMODIFIED XP WOLFF EXTRACTOR SPRING ****
Reaming the chamber made loading for this pistol a lot easier now, the chamber's throat was very short from the factory. I am happy I did it, I do not have to worry about COL as much. I kept my current loads at 1090 (147 CAMPRO bullet) just because is what CAMPRO recommends for this bullet type but I can load all the way up to 1130/1140 if I wanted to, which I think it would be silly to do with 147gr.

another 200 rounds tonight in a short practice with no issues.
The XP Spring looks like the solution to my problem.
I will post here again if there is an issue with my gun.
:):):):):)

you are worried about the rattle of your stock 2? lol, try a Grand Power X calibur.
Anyway, it is normal and it makes absolute no ill effect to either function or accuracy.

I will keep reporting every Thursday (that is my ipsc practice).
Gun runs like a top!!

Another successful night. No hiccups for a total of 250 rounds tonight.
For those having issues with extraction / brass in chamber, please get a XP WOLF string and DO NOT MODIFY the spring.

I solved all issues once and for all, but I had to change some things mentioned below:
- barrel
- slide
- grips
- all springs
- hammer
- sights
- trigger (for SA)
- painted to black
- some other minor changes
This is how my issue-free gun looks like:
Thanks You ALL for your time trying to solve my problem, I really do appreciate it.
The extraction issue was solved with the XP spring for me, 500 rounds going strong. Tomorrow more testing, but it seems it is good to go now as it was failing every 100 rounds.

I have shot about 30k s&b primers out my stock 2 with no issues.
I run 14pound PD hammer spring and the Extreme firing pin with the light firing pin spring. No issues anymore. I think the firing pin also makes a difference.

Great thanks

Yeah, but how's the frame holding up?
Lol
lol so true.
They just redesigned the frames to fix this, they have cutouts over the barrel pin holes

Because it is HIGHLY IMPORTANT. The FP spring "robs" force to keep the FP from going too far forward and getting stuck.
Too weak = stuck FP.
Too strong = light strike failures
But PD only makes one FP spring. why?
Because they engineered it to work with light, medium and heavy hamner springs. Their very light spring robs little force, but reaches "coil solid stack" before the FP can go too far forward. Clever... very clever!
Can I use, or better said, would it be recommended to run PD's FP spring with any other hammer spring?
wondering if this is what I need to ignite SB primers reliably. I am experimenting at this point but I do not want to go to the extent where I am mismatching parts for no reason. I don't want to waste money or time...

Hammer spring has zero bearing on the FP spring. I think my gun has a light Xtreme fp spring and a 14lb PD hammer spring. But it really doesn’t matter.
As long as the fp spring isn’t stupid heavy. You’ll be fine.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIf it has 0 bearing why EGD sells light and Medium fp spring?
just curious

will these run with extreme firing pin or do I need to change the FP to a Pd to use this spring?
-
I tried running egd lights springs after playing with the disco, I am getting 85% of the SA throw but cant ignite SB primers reliably.
WOndering if I should switch to PD springs...
I have a yellow one given to me by a fellow shooter, but dont have a correct fp spring to go along with it.
What fp spring would be correct for pd hammer springs?
-
wondering what other parts can we tackle to make the DA longer?
I am very curious as to how much closer to the SA I can get it...
Next I think to modify would be the ramp/slanted angle of the sear cage however it might be very tricky to get right on both sides... Or I could shave some off the trigger bar, but not sure I want to do this on that part...
Sorry for derailing this thread, perhaps we should open another one and start a new polishing project this weekend? lol

200 ROUNDS without a hiccup. Hopefully it stays that way so it is promising.
I put another XP spring on my 2nd gun and also run perfect.
These springs were not cut nor modified in any way, the extractor is hard as a rock and contrary to what was recommended before it works, extracts (and allows ejection) and it can also slip over a chambered round if needed.
My advise to those having this issue, put an XP WOLFF spring in it, do not modify the spring and go shoot the gun.
If I do not update this thread in 4 weeks, you can rest assured my gun has been fixed.
-
if it is not dropping now with the unmodified disco then start by modding the arch until it works fully.
whenever you work on the gun just go one step at the time, once you achieve function on that stage, move on to the next step. That way you can keep track of you measurement, remember the gun is a system, and these guns are different to one another due to factory tolerances.
I just fitted both my discos, I just finished doing it and the trigger feels the same however I can get more throw in both hammers. Once I had the throw I wanted then I adjusted the over travel screw while maintaining a functioning firing pin safety.
In the S2 with 2.000 rounds (both my guns are relatively new) the trigger break is a beauty now, there is a very respectable over travel or the lack thereof, very happy with this trigger now. I just put LIGHT EGD springs in it to see if I can lit SB primers with it now that I have a tiny bit more throw.
My second S2, also has a modded disco, with this one I had to bring the disco down to 0.510 from 0.565 and I can still shave some more but since the gun is new I figured to give it some room to brake in and perhaps the throw increases a bit on its own in the next 1.000 rounds. This gun has MEDIUM EGD springs and it is the gun I am going to practice with tomorrow as I have little faith in SB primers with EGD light springs (TITAN hammer in both guns).
Cheers and thank you for another great thread! Stop posting things because I keep polishing these guns ! I have no life!!!
-
Yes thank you very much
-
Awesome thread until the sb/
primer discussion lol.
My new S2 has a shorter throw and I was looking at the issue.
wondering if and incorrect disco would wear out the frame....
noticed a few guys talking about frame wear by the disco....
-
just a quick update :
the culprit is the sear.
The problem is not the fitting (FYI) but how it matted to the hammer. It is worn enough that the hammer can slip under it.
If I install the same sear in the other gun the problem is not so obvious.
It seems the sear is slightly out of spec. I will get a new one and see how things evolve.

I can't find the thread with all the testing on different hammer springs. I think it was done by Memphis Mech.
Google and Ennos search functions are not helping.
It was a really useful thread with some testing done on all different hammer springs....

Mine drops over a chambered dummy round.
well if this is working for you, then that is what the solution must be. Just put the Xp spring without mods and it should be good to go.
I did try 2 different springs in mine recently, both cut, one a little bit more generous cut than the other. The weaker one was more prone to FTE than the other one a bit tighter.
I am going to run with XP spring uncut, I also installed a extractor that has the lowest dimensions just like you did. All my extractors are slightly different but the sweet spot looks like around 0.288 inch

Yup, agreed with that.
it will fix ammo problems, feeding, ignition but not extraction.
At least I know this from personal experience.
