  1. Thanks for the info. I got out for 500-550rds through the new CDNN mags this morning. All is well.
  2. I started with CZs and switched to Tanfos due to hand size. The CZs have always reloaded easier for me and it makes sense that it's due to the flex mag brake.
  3. I just received my Christmas present to myself and I'm wondering if I should open them.....a big box full of CDNN $14.99 K-9s. Up until now I've only used the Mec-Gars. I know they're supposed to be exactly the same but it sounds like the fat mag issue is happening to the K-9s only. Can anybody shed some more light on this? Have any Mec-Gars ended up sticking or just K9? Is the issue wide spread or just Pat and a couple of others? Thanks everyone.
  4. Hey Ricky, Rich O here. I was wondering what happened to you yesterday. I broke one at SAPSA earlier this year when I was still shooting the CZ. I would definitely suggest having a back up. You're welcome to borrow my slide stop for next weekend if you don't have a chance to order a new one in time. Just let me know. Mine is from a regular Sp-01 but my understanding is it will work in a Shadow. Rowdy can probably clarify.
  5. Hi Quailhunter, unfortunately I sold my Sphinx when I jumped in to USPSA with both feet. I had to fund these CZs & Tanfos somehow! It was no reflection on the SDP which is a best in class 9mm in my opinion. Congrats on the Standard Duo Tone, I'm happy to know they really exist. I gave up searching / waiting for Kriss to deliver full size models 6 months ago. I hope you're able to get an answer on CZ mag comparability with the Standard frame.
  6. Weight comparison: ShockBottle .8oz Springer 1.2oz If you're looking for pics I'll try to post some later. I'm using ShockBottles for start mags and Springer for the rest.
  7. Haha yes Stuman, I do know exactly what you're going through. It's not just a matter of finding something with a XXL grip, it's getting a gun that you actually want AND it happens to fit your hand. I've either shot or held all of the models mentioned above other than the Para. I really wanted the 226 to work because there are models that really fit well. Unfortunately, in my opinion at least, it didn't come close to the CZ for USPSA / action pistol games. So, the Stock II. I love it and my guess would be most large handed CZ fans will as well. I got mine slightly used with all of the necessary parts already installed because I'm fairly useless with tools and I wanted to shoot it ASAP. If you're in the market for a new one, NOW is the time as they're finally available from multiple sources. I would suggest buying from Ben Stoeger's Pro Shop because Tim Meyers runs a tight ship and the prices are fair. If you PM me I'll send you some more info.
  8. I am in the same boat Stuman. I got in to handguns & USPSA last October and before I realized the importance of room for the weak hand I already owned 2 CZ SP-01s. Great guns but as you've learned they're not nearly wide enough for those of us with XL paws / ET fingers. I tried every oversized grip available and finally settled on Double Alphas thick competition grips, extra tape on front - back straps, and the thinnest Limbsaver grip sleeve available (the one meant for AR-15 grips) slid over the whole grip. Grip sleeves are Production legal and I even sent a picture of my conconction to Troy to confirm. This set up worked ok until sweaty hands became part of the equation in June. I quickly learned that grip sleeves & high humidity don't mix. I finally found a Stock 2 and haven't looked back. I could still do with a bigger grip but it's the best alternative I've found especially if you want to stick with a metal frame gun. Good luck with your search.
  9. My Springers just arrived. The large frame Stock II will fit the box with them as well, correct? (Nervous) My understanding has been that the difference between the LF and SF Stock II is internal mag well dimensions and the like (Still nervous).
  10. Springer Precision has large frame Tanfo basepads on their site and in stock. Under EAA-Tanfoglio there are 4 options, 3 of which are there in error because they're for CZs. The correct option has a picture of a Match.
  11. I talked to the guys at Springer a couple of weeks ago and at that point they were a month away from offering LF Tanfo pads. I'm torn because I liked them on my CZ mags but since switching to a Stock II I've gotten used to the ShockBottles. Disclaimer: just as Ben deserves a piece of every Tanfo sold, I think Gump is due a % of Stoeger pro shop sales. I'm not the only noob who has been swayed by his 5* Porta-Steak reviews! He hasn't lead me astray yet.
  12. When I got in to shooting last year I researched my first gun purchase for over a month and ended up buying the Sphinx SDP Alpha. You won't be disappointed. Check out Cajun Gun Works for their Sphinx spring package to lighten the DA if you feel it's too heavy. I got hooked on USPSA and sold the Sphinx to finance a Cajun SP-01 Tactical because I was short on funds and felt the CZ would be a better option for Production. When I sold it I did so with the knowledge that I will definitely buy another Sphinx down the road. Regardless of what you decide to do with it, I think you'll really enjoy shooting / owning the Sphinx.
  13. I started shooting last summer and quickly fell in to USPSA. Luckily I discovered Cajun Gun Works because David (Schmecky) was extremely helpful. I had the same dilemma, tactical or shadow and am very happy I listened to David. I don't have enough experience with other platforms to comment on decocker vs manual safety triggers across the board but can tell you with 100% certainty that the CGW SP-01 Tactical is a GREAT choice. Mine has a super smooth 6.5 DA and a 2.5 SA. My Shadow having friends shoot it and shake their heads. Decocker triggers are supposed to be "less than", right? Not in this case. Unfortunately, due to my XXL hands, I've switched to Tanfos for competition. If the CZ fits your hand than you can't go wrong with the CGW SP-01 Tactical. Even though I found something that offers more room for the support hand, I have no plans to trade / sell my Cajunized CZ. I like it too much.
  14. I have xxl sized hands and currently use a Cajunized SP-01 for Production. The gun is way better than me but even with DAA thick comp grips I struggle to find room for my support hand. Is there a significant difference in grip circumference between the two? Thank you for the comparison.
  15. I have a Sphinx SDP and a CZ SP-01. The 18rd factory CZ mag works with the Sphinx but after running a few mags through the Sphinx I realized it rubs the finish off of the CZ mags slightly in two small spots. Not a deal breaker for me but just fyi. When I purchased the Sphinx we tested a 16rd CZ Mag just to see if it fit, and it did as well. The 75 compact mag wasn't quite tall enough to seat. In my new purchase / Sphinx euphoria I bought 3 factory Sphinx mags (Mec Gar) for $54 per which obviously wasn't deal of the century material but I am very happy with the Sphinx and have carried it for the last 2 weeks. I think you'll be fine with Mec Gars meant for the 75. Best of luck.
