  1. The pictures are great. This won't be a Stock II situation - the ship has to sail in at some point.
  2. I'm still in the Brazos line. Still looking forward to the blaster. Who knows what the hold up is, but hopefully it is a matter of maintaining quality.
  3. Yeah I'm in the same boat. I set up arrays around the house and run around. We also set up an airsoft range in the house using metal targets from tactrainers.com. They are really cool. Used at the intended distance you get a lot of feedback on how you're doing. USPSA style shooting is totally new to me so I have a lot of counterproductive habits to overcome in addition to trying to develop new skills. I'll see if I can post a video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYtpH_fpFxE
  4. They are a pretty dead on replica. We've got a couple. But they're fragile so watch out. We've busted a magazine by dropping it and recently a hammer broke on one during normal firing. Both also quit working with expensive "golden" plastic bb's but worked fine with the cheaper bulk pack from the local sports store. But the feel is there and they've been useful to practice with. I put a fastfire on the included mount and that is pretty close to the height of a cmore on the real one.
  5. What a bummer. That match day was just not your day. But if that's a tough day for you you're going to have some great ones. You were moving and shooting very quick and smooth and overcoming a lot of unplanned obstacles. Great range diary. Your approach is excellent and you are matching effort to your plan. Looks like you took the big match bummer in stride so it won't set you back. Just overall impressive and inspiring to those of us not at your level. No advice from me since you're way better than I am; just stopping in to say you're doing outstanding and it's fun to watch you go.
  6. Here’s another positive review. Got the video via vimeo download. It’s not tactical. It’s not 3-D. It wasn’t filmed in IMAX. It doesn’t talk about saving you on the streets. It doesn’t talk about how to achieve a micron improvement in sear surface finish. It’s direct and to the point. The emphasis is on conveying information in a straight forward way to somebody looking for advice on the foundations of competitive shooting. It’s well produced. The video seems aimed at somebody like me – a person with a lot of shooting experience but none of it done in a way to minimize to the extent possible the time it takes to do the shooting. So, I found a lot of the information revealing. Some tips on grip force were interesting plus the different mindset to achieving the “best” grip for the individual for purposes of going fast while remaining accurate. Generally, I found the process Ben used of walking through the elements of shooting and how to approach them physically and mentally to be very useful (trigger engagement, reloads, transitions and shot calling for examples). It’s certainly not a video for advanced techniques for field courses but it doesn’t claim to be. If you’re pretty new to competitive shooting you’ll learn some new things and probably fill in some gaps on things you didn’t know that you didn’t know. I do have dry fire books etc., but I found this video to be informative in ways those weren’t. The video title is exactly accurate in what is provided. I’m still suing Ben though if this video doesn’t get me a GM card in 30 days or less.
  7. Still in line at Brazos and still looking forward to the gun but surfing the classifieds a lot lately!
  8. You'll surely enjoy it. I've gotten a couple of 2011's to use for major but still like the 9mm gold teams we have. If I spot a 38 super at a fair price I'm going to grab it - so please post up your experiences with yours for those of us living vicariously! Have you got a thumb rest on it yet? Anyway, enjoy!
  9. When I ordered some stuff from Henning that was out of stock, he called to let me know and discuss what to do about it. Also to offer advice on the Tanfo. Really appreciated it - he's a great resource.
  10. Sorry about that. They've been getting more tanfoglios lately so if I see another ill give the red alert.
  11. Glad you got it. I would have headed back and grabbed it if somebody here didn't. Stock I was next to it for 799 but that's no unicorn. The stock ii looked great. Grips looked like the wood ones on my limited. Really like that sight better than my stock I.
  12. Just saw a 9mm stock ii on the shelf at pdhsc here in Raleigh for 893 new. Reasonable!
  13. I did that last match. Ran by a port and FTE 3 targets. I learned the true meaning of penalty pain!
  14. I really like the ones I have - we've shot them 9mm minor. I found no easy way to get to 9mm major, though Canyon Creek will help there by putting a real comp on the factory ammo barrel, but your gun is out of commission while they do it (saw one at a match - they did a nice job). So, I contacted EAA about 38 super which seems the wise choice for this gun. They said conversion kits were very rare and they had some more 38 supers ordered but didn't know when they'd land. I'd like to get a 38 super some time, but in the mean time I've gone to the 2011 which as you say are certainly more available.
  15. Just tried Atlanta Arms on my iMac and it's loading like normal. I've been ordering from them online lately. The ammo ships quick and is certainly high quality (38 super major and minor).
  16. Like a lot of people I'm waiting for the S.S. DVC Open to sail into port. I'd rather it be right than fast. Great for STI to have so much interest in the product and I'm sure it will be great. Thanks Dustin for the updates.
  17. Even the force cannot conjure up spare barrels! I'm thinking of heading to the garage and trying to open up the comp on the spare factory barrel - do the second port and the holes on the front. Suboptimal, but maybe worth it.
  18. I’ve only got the new style magazines (k9 and k40) but they both work great with factory ammo that I’ve run. I haven’t had any problems with the 40 Limited (haven’t shot it that much though) and I got a 9mm slide for it and haven’t had problems with that either with any magazine (I do play with recoil springs though). K9 on the left and K40 on the right.
  19. Most excellent Henning have a great trip! I'll help deplete your inventory some while you are gone.
  20. Any feedback on how it shoots going major with the non-ported barrel?
  21. I'm also looking at how to get to major (reasonably) with the 9mm GT. From what I've read also going major with the ported barrel is not attractive. I called EAA to see if they have .38 super barrels but they don't. It looks like reaming the barrel is problematic (from the reamer standpoint). Another thought is to drill out the comp holes on the factory barrel and maybe add a couple of popples on the barrel but not the entire line of them. Interested in this discussion for sure.
  22. Yep I gave both a go. Since that first run I've put a 13b hammer spring in and a Grauffel firing pin just waiting on some springs to try to tune the slide. Soon as I get powder I'll load up something better than factory hopefully. Big Nick post some pix when you're done tweaking!
  23. Very cool. I just got one in 9mm - only have factory ammo right now to play with and haven't gotten it running yet with that. But, the gun is very accurate and holds great in the hand and is just a great piece of equipment. Looking forward to dialing it in. Here, if I do it right, is a pic with the sideways mount I've started with.
