  1. I'm definitely going to swap to a lighter bullet. Shot today and my ammo didn't show much of any pressure signs, but the dot movement was too slow. I think I'm going to drop all the way down to 105gr for testing.
  2. Thanks. I forgot I had QL. Plugged everything in for my load and it is saying I'm around 30k psi. Ideally I'd like more margin for error. Seating it at 1.1" gives me almost another 10k psi of wiggle room. Are you saying you still use the 135s or you switched off them too due to the round nose? I was thinking I'd switch to 135 when I'm out of 147s.
  3. I did it for feeding issues and it worked fine, but that was in my Tanfo and I'm now planning on using it in a Ruger PCC. Why lighter bullet?
  4. Does 1.06 not sound pretty damn short for 147?
  5. Just got my Ruger PC9. From the factory the trigger pull was fairly squishy, not dissimilar to a Glock trigger. The only thing I did to it was polish the sear and hammer connection points. A lot of the mushiness went away. It is still probably in the 5.5lbs pull range, and the break is not like a "glass rod"...but it is very serviceable. If I wanted to just lower the pull a bit with minimum effect on function, I'm assuming I'd be looking at a lighter sear spring, right? I think that and eventually a swap to a metal trigger is all it needs.
  6. Haven't been shooting for 2 years. Coming back and switching to PCC. My load I was using for my Tanfo is 147 BBI with 3.2gr of Bullseye with a COAL of 1.06. I've also got 8lbs of sport pistol I haven't opened yet. Looking at the alliant recipes they seem to be nearly identical in burn rate. I'm trying to remember why I switched and I think it was because Sport Pistol is supposed to fill the case more and burn cleaner. Anyways, do you see anything problematic with my load? The OAL seems maybe a tad short, but idk.
  7. I was trying decide between those 2 exact guns. I was lucky enough to shoot both this week and I went with the Ruger (except the 19115 model without the pistol grip). My reasons were: 1) Most importantly is was completely flawless in terms of reliability 2) It was substantially softer and flatter while also having a quicker impulse 3) It was quite a bit cheaper 4) I prefer the rifle grip The things that made me consider the AR platform the most were: 1) The weight and balance of the Ruger is not ideal 2) The mag release for the Ruger is much worse The weight is something I'm just going to have to accept, but the extended mag releases (particularly the one that is just a big button) for the Ruger seem to do a lot to alleviate this issue In the end, my 3 biggest priorities we're reliability, price, and how well I shot it. Ruger won all 3 for me. The video seems to have about the same conclusions I did. One thing I'm curious about is how the recoil would compare against an optimally set up AR9.
  8. How often are you shooting more than ~35 in a stage? Why not just +5 basepads?
  9. The FM9 is the other one I've been looking at most. The side charger seems like a big advantage.
  10. Has the proprietary stuff been an issue? What exactly do you feel like you are missing out on?
  11. Including mags and everything. Is that possible? I know nothing about AR platforms and haven't shot PCC, but after a couple years off from shooting I'd like to come back and try something different. I'm thinking that I will stick to RFPO steel challenge and PCC. It seems like the FX-9 has good enough reviews and the price is right. From the limited amount I know, it seems like that might be a better choice than the Ruger due to more variety in aftermarket parts and having a buffer system?
  12. I'm pretty sure cutting the spring coils would INCREASE the rate, meaning it would take more force to compress the spring the same distance. Of course, the spring wouldn't need to compress as much because it'd be shorter. IDK how the calculation would work out in the end, but it seems like just using a lighter spring would be the best option (if those are even available).
  13. What does cutting the firing pin spring accomplish?
  14. What internal modifications or upgrades are recomended for reliability and performance?
  15. The finish is better on the Stock 2s. My Stock 3's finish is basically gone in several areas. It will rust easily.
  16. Good stuff. Any chance that you've timed yourself using a production rig? Draws and reloads are the biggest thing holding me back. I hover around 0.9 second draw and 1.1 second (inconsistent) reload.
  17. I think they both shoot hundreds of thousands of rounds per year.
  18. Except maybe Gaston and Eric Grauffel.
  19. I'd be interested in that stock 3 and maybe a mag or 2
  20. I don't have access to a range. So 95% of my practice is dry fire. I'm unclassified, but generally finish above most A class guys.
