I have a RIA 9mm Tactical. Sorry to hear about your issues with one. I'd call them and ship it back to them. They will fix it and usually give it a performance tune. I have about 1500 flawless rounds through mine. Did you clean it out real good B4 shooting it. If this is to far off topic just say so.

joes1911magmania on ebay. Bought 2 and they have the holes on bottom for base plates. I did add base plates and they work great. They seem a little tighter than my OEM mags but drop fine. Great price and fast shipping. Google Joes 1911 for reviews.

My ProMags work fine but I think I got lucky. There is a reason why your "buddy" gave you these mags. I bought 2 ProMags when 17 round 9mm were impossible to find. I did replace the ProMag base plates with S&W base plates and with a little bit of tweaking the flange on the bottom of the mag they have worked. So, if the base plate is interchangeable maybe the rest of the mag parts are also.

+1 on "How does it shoot?" If it shoots fine and S&W says its within specs I really don't see an issue.

Just found this forum and decided to join. After seeing what happened to a poster on the M&P forum I was looking for another good source for info. Found this site and actually found that the OP posted the same question/comment on this site and the M&P site. When comparing responses I decided to join this site. I am retired and took up shooting about 2 years ago to have something to do on rainy days when I cannot play golf. My first handgun purchase was a M&P 9 FS. I love the gun and had the APEX FSS installed and a Hogue finger grove grip. Next came a Ruger Blackhawk followed by a RIA 1911.
