I shoot in a speed league where the ( ) running it REQUIRE that the reloads be done empty with slide locked back to make sure nobody is "manipulating" a loaded gun. Their league, their rules.
I plan my stages so I don't have a slide lock. But in the event where my plan goes out the window when the buzzer goes off (happens a lot), I revert back to my LE training and grab over the top of the slide with my weak hand.
I can't say for the match hotel, but being from the area I doubt if all the hotels in Wichita Falls are booked. Unless there's a big event going on like when the Hotter'n Hell Hunderd is going on.
That's why I "drag" my wife along. She likes to watch and one day wants to join once she's more comfortable with a pistol. Doesn't affect anything and I get video for review.
A chrono is in the plans for me. As is a 650 and lots of other things. But money's hard to come by so I'm slowly getting everything I need together. Thanks again for all the great info.
Thanks for all the info. I have a friend that has a chrono. I'll run and see him and use his. I will be shooting major. Looks like I'll need some more mag pouches. My goals for this match are 1. Don't DQ. 2. Don't finish last.
I'm using a stock Springfield operator. Ammo will be factory since I'm not 100% certain of my own loads yet. How much leeway will they give on the mag pouch position. I'm just running a wilderness belt and a pair of 5.11 pants for now. I'm using two double mag pouches and the front one ends up about 10 o'clock on my belt.
I just signed up for the Double Tap Championship. This will be my first major. I've shot a few club matches but want to know what I'll need for a major. I'll be shooting single stack. Thanks for any and all help.
