  1. When you drop a loaded round into the barrel chamber it shouldn't been sitting on the rifling, correct? Well if it's making contact with the rifling it won't spin. I'm just following the plunk test everyone talks about. Besides, the round ends up sticking back behind the barrel hood. That's what this is about. With my prior loads with a 124 RN i could load to 1.160 no problem. With these JHP's they're hitting the rifling between 1.090-1.11. Just making sure it's safe to go lower then that. I just loaded 10 rounds with 5.4 grains of WAC at 1.085. They all seem to pass, i just want to make sure that's not to short. Anything above that hits the rifling. I just can't seem to find any information on this topic.
  2. I have a round that measures 1.097. It's hitting the rifling. This is just not making any sense to me when i have three others at 1.111 that spin fine. They all look fine, i mean i don't know why it's catching.
  3. I'm trying to load Montana Gold 115 gr Jhp's right now with 5.4 grains of WAC. I can't seem to find a good OAL and i'm not sure how short i can go and still be safe. I'v got three in a row that measure 1.111 that pass the drop test and spin. Then the next one will measure 1.111 but not pass the test and will not spin at all. I can't figure it out. Even if i drop the oal closer to 1.10 they still act like that. Some that are longer will pass the drop test and i'll get a few shorter ones that won't. It doesn't make any sense. Where should i be at on OAL? I'v searched and searched and can not find anything that relates to what i am loading. Everything i find people are loading much longer and it seems to obviously not fit. This is going to shoot out of a glock 17 with a KKM barrel. Also, i recently loaded 500 Xtreme Plated RN 124's at 1.150-1.160 and they all dropped and shot perfect. What am i doing wrong?

    cops secret training

That's a bummer you didn't get to shoot. Where they not allowing any civilians on the range at the time or was it just going to be too long of a wait?
  5. As everyone said all you need is sights. I prefer Trijicon HD's for defensive/ccw. Dawson adjustables for everything else.
  6. That's a pretty neat idea. I think if i were to invest all of that dough i'd want to see the processes they do and how it's born.
  7. I doubt most of the people on this board really keep their Glock's stock. At the very least a few minor changes. Go over to GlockTalk and it's a completely different story. You'll be condemned to burn in the fiery pits of hell if you mention any modifications over there. Then they'll make you aware how your gun is probably more acccurate then you are so it's pointless to change anything.. lol yah, anyway. Some Glocks i go all out on, and some i don't. Just really depends what i'm using it for. I have nothing against a completely stock Glock pistol, but as everyone said the sights are absolute garbage. It's better then just making the sights "mediocre", because it's not a hard decision on whether to change them or not. I prefer fixing up the trigger, but i don't mind shooting it stock. Glocks are fun because of how easy they are to learn and work on, theres a lot of parts to set the gun up for whatever purpose you're using it for, and they won't lighten your wallet too much getting you started.
  8. I saw a video on this. Maybe like Kraj said the screws were too tight. If they're too tight, it will back the insert out and doesn't give enough clearance for the mag. Did you re install it and not over tighten the screws to see if it worked?
  9. Jeez anyone use Remington primers? They're not that bad. I'm a new reloader and i bought a bunch because it was all the store had. Although, i'v found a new shop a city over which has everything so i'll probably switch to fed srp but the Rem 1.5's seem to be getting the job done.
  10. You said your gunsmith built this gun for you. Did it ever run since you got it back from him? Or is this the way you received it after you paid him for his services? If this is the way you received it i see a big problem in that because i'm sure a gun that doesn't work isn't exactly what you paid for. You mentioned he kept fiddling with it but can't figure it out. If he gave it back to you working like that it seems as if he gave you an unfinished gun. I'd be looking for some type of a refund to take it to another smith.
  11. Definately small pistol. If you use them though i would recommend having a light/extended striker. I had very bad luck trying to use the reduced striker spring/ stock striker with Tula factory ammo. Haven't fired them since i put the Jager striker in but i would imagine it would help. Tula is known to generally be pretty hard, and i would imagine SRP is going to be even harder. If you have the right set up you'll probably be allright though.
  12. I have had a similar situation as you as of late. Glock 17 with 3 ports on top ad 2 on the side, 11 lb recoil spring and 4 lb firing pin spring with zev 2lb connector, stock firing pin. There are times I get light strikes while sometimes it just runs really great. I will now try a heavier firing pin spring (back to stock spring) and I am 99.9% that it would eliminate the light strikes however, I can already feel a heavier trigger. Apart from purchasing the full zev trigger kit, is there any other remedy to achieve a light trigger but eliminate light strikes? Yes! you need to get a extended/lightweight striker. That's the only way you can really use the 4lb striker spring reliably. I prefer Jagers light weight striker, but Glockworx makes one also. Either of those two.
  13. Beautiful, beautiful gun! Enjoy it!! How long did you have to wait for it?
  14. That sounds great. I didn't know that your able to re-use the media. I figured it was something you had to buy over and over every time you clean brass. I'm looking forward to getting this tumbler because at the moment i'v just been leaving my brass on the range. I'v been putting a lot of money into my hobby lately so it would be a good idea for me to try and save even a little bit when possible, that means reusing brass. Will see what my store carry's tommorow. If they don't have anything worth wild i'll look into getting the one you recommended. What i really need to be doing is upgrading this press so i can shoot more! It takes me way too long to re load at the moment. It's kind of funny, i started with a single stage because i figured i didn't shoot that much. I mean i shoot every week but i usually only buy about 150 rounds. I figure reloading that will be no problem. Well now that i'm reloading i want to shoot more and more. I love it i love it i love it! I wish i would've started reloading sooner.
  15. For USPSA Production Division is there a basepad/spring option to increase the capacity of these mags? They have a plus 2 but for production you don't need it. Some say the 19 rounders will not fit the box. Got it... Thanks for the info. Glk21C... No ten round limit on USPSA Production division here. Is that a Maryland thing? I'm pretty sure that's an everywhere thing
  16. Beerbaron, thank you very much for your advice. I'v been shooting and experimenting a lot since i started this thread. I'v solved all my problems at the moment and things are going much better. I went through all of my xtreme plated and just ordered 1000 MG JHP's to try out. Basically those xtreme plated are just not meant to go that fast. By doing samples of ten starting at 4.6 all the way up to 6.4 i was clearly able to see which shot the best with that bullet. It seemed that anything over 5.4-5.6 and accuracy starts dropping pretty dramatically. The first batch i loaded were at 6.2 grains and i'm pretty sure that was too much for that bullet. I'm out of bullets at the moment and hoping my MG's get here pretty quick. The reloading store in my town basically buys Xtremes bullets and repackages them as their own, so i was kind of confused as to what i was getting. If i had known they were not rated to go that fast i wouldn't have got them in the first place, but no biggie, still had a lot of fun with them! Another thing that i changed after my first batch was the crimp. Since i didn't use the Lee crimp die on my first batch i don't think they were really crimped at all. I'v been crimping them at .375 and all seems good so i'll just keep it at that i figure. I'm going to go to the reloading shop tommorow and pick up some more powder, and maybe try some new primers. I have some Rem 1.5's but i'm not sure how i feel about them and since i'm going to be loading major i think i'll pick up some fed srp's and maybe a few more bullets just to hold me over until my MG's get here. I remember seeing they had a few tumblers but not sure what models, i'm going to check them out tommorow though. Thanks again for your reply, take care

    Recoil springs

I like Wolf because i just like the feel. Question: Are Glockworx 12lb (blue) round wire spring the same as a Wolf round wire? Is it the same exact spring just with blue coating?
  19. I figure before i go and do a little bit of wallet lightening, i'll ask everyone's opinion. I have a glock 17 set up for open. KKM / Jager 4 chamber comp. Obviously before i got into reloading i was shooting factory ammo. With an 11lb spring the gun runs flawlessly w/ factory. Since i'v gotten into reloading i'v been experimenting with 9major loads and i can actually put the compensator to work a little now. I was just wondering if it would benefit me to go with a bigger comp like the SJC 11 port. I figure it's making all of this gas, let's take advantage of it. Wasn't sure if there were any trade off's involved. I just do not know much about comp designs so i was hoping some of you guys could learn me a thing or two. Honestly, i bought my barrel/comp used, and the comp is leaded up pretty bad, and has almost no finish on it anymore. I'm sort of looking at getting a new comp in the near future anyway and i was just thinking about the different options. Is bigger better when it comes to comps or is that not the case? Has anyone shot both a 4 port comp and the 11 port comp and is there any noticeable difference given the same load? Thank you my fellow BE patrons. Have a wonderful day.
