  1. Knowing and doing are two different things. I know I need to watch the front sight on all my shots past a certain distance, but I don't always do. But I've heard good things about his books and want to read it. A friend of mine made GM recently and says the books helped tremendously.
  2. I'm talking about the actual plate though. A couple of times it all looked like one grey mass inside the target stand, and I just had to base my holds on the approximate middle of the box.
  3. Yeah that explains a lot. And don't get me wrong, I wasn't out there bitching during the match, it didn't cross my mind until right after I shot. Just food for thought!
  4. My only complaint is that on Stage 2 and Stage 7 I could not see the targets at all, I shot those after several squads, the paint was non-existent and combined with the sun/shade, I literally couldn't see where within the target stand the actual target was. The next morning, they were a nice bright orange for the first squad. Easy fix: One RO gives stage briefing while other runs/drives/whatever to repaint. Lot of other matches I've shot have done that. Had a blast though! Hopefully I can make it to next year's.
  5. I ran an 11# spring with my minor loads (3.5gr WST, 180 gr Xtreme jhp) didn't get a chance to chrono but by my estimate, these are shooting around 135pf. 10# felt a little too slow for me, so 11# was about where I need to be with this heavy of a slide.
  6. Factory trigger isn't bad. I would compare the performance to my Fulcrum I used on my Glock. It is a little heavier, but smooth and short. That said, there is a lot of room for improvement, just feel a custom 2011 and you'll see what I'm saying. Definitely will be upgrading at some point soon.
  7. Holy cow, this definitely looks like it will be the most challenging match I've shot! Better start working on all my abstract shooting positions!
  8. Yeah but how many of you are actually planning on using a FC on a stage with flyers...
  9. No, it's just a standard STI grip safety. Here it is:
  10. The back of the thumb safeties are digging into my hand. Any info on Dawson Tool-Less Guide Rod Disassembly AND whether or not I can use normal recoil springs?
  11. I got it figured out. Filed down the followers, put a dimple in the slide stop and shaved it down a little. Also did a little grip work to allow a higher grip on the gun. Ran 350 rounds through it today and it ran like a king! I'm so excited. Recoil and accuracy is way better than my Glock 35. That said, I have small hands and it was pretty uncomfortable to shoot after the first hundred fifty rounds or so. I think I just need to build up calluses on my hands on those parts.
  12. Awesome, sounds good guys. So, tomorrow I'm going to the range, putting a few hundred through it, followed by heading to the reloading bench and starting to find a good load. Tonight I plan on modifying the slide release and followers to not hold open. The Brazos article is good, but does anyone have a good picture of what exactly I need to do to the follower? The picture and explanation doesn't give me enough to feel confident taking a dremel to it.
  13. Hello everyone, I am new to the 2011 world after running limited Glocks for a year. I just bought a CRP Eagle and need to know what to do first. I got a couple 140mm STI tubes + TTI pads, followers, and springs to start off. I have NO idea what I'm doing, so I need to know what to do first to get it running reliably. First problem is the Taran mags I've assembled are tough to load the first initial because the follower seems to sit too far forward in the mag and comes out of the top a little when loading the first two rounds. Somehow the gun loaded a round completely backward in the chamber after running some rounds through (not firing, just racking). I will be using this for USPSA and 3 gun, so I'll be running some really light .40 for 3gun. Currently the slide is a b**** to get pull back compared to my old Glock. Is there an 2011 For Dummies anywhere? What typically needs to be done to stock STI's to get them running fairly reliably off the start? What about a mag built by scratch? I'd rather not spend 10 hours dremeling/polishing, I initially just want it to feed reliably enough to not put rounds backwards haha EDIT: Couple other things. 1) Recommended OAL is 1.180 correct? Rounds I am using to cycle through are basically factory length. 2) TTI magazines are holding slide open with 1 round still in magazine, how do I fix this? (I will probably eventually just disable slide-lock eventually anyways) Thanks!
  14. Had my FIRST malfunction. Probably around 1100 rounds through it. Hadn't been cleaned in months and at least a whole case of ammo, and the gun was absolutely soaked because we were shooting in the pouring rain. A round failed to feed, so I racked and was back in action. Considering the circumstances, I'm not that upset, but now I can no longer say I've never had a single problem.
  15. Just shot a match yesterday (~80-90 rounds) using a different BCG and had no issues. I'm going to buy a LMOS BCG and spring assembly and test it out. I had tried swapping the gas rings on the other BCG and it was still having problems, also tried new ammo and it didn't affect it.
  16. I'd rather the money (for shirts) go towards prize table or snacks or something, personally.
  17. Well I've got a multitude of possible problems/solutions. I'm about to go to the range with new gas rings on the bolt, as well as a different lower and BCG. I will also be trying new ammo, and I may as well bring some steel mags. I'm sure the combination of that will fix it, I just hope I can find it with limited ammo.
  18. My 3gun AR is constantly having a boltover malfunction. I have probably put 1k rounds through it and this has not happened until the last 300ish. I took it apart, cleaned it thoroughly and it is still having the issue (although not as frequently). Last range session was 3 times out of about 100 rounds-ish. Before I cleaned it, it was getting worse and worse until it was once every 5 rounds or so. This happens in all of my mags (various Pmags that are all in great shape and have worked well before). I read that this is most commonly caused by a loose magazine catch. So I tightened it when I installed a new mag release button a few days. I am going to the range sometime this week to see if it is running more reliably. Will chambering a few dozen rounds through the gun before I go to the range come close to effectively reproducing the problem? If it is the mag-issue of course. And when I mean run, I mean chamber, rack slide to eject, repeat. I don't want to waste another 100 rounds after "fixing" each potential problem. $$$ Other causes according to the internet could be the: 1. feed-ramps (in which case I need to see if it is the same side of the magazine causing the issue each time) 2. the magazine itself 3. ammo (I've ran several hundred of this NEW Fiocchi before with no issue) Thanks for the help!
  19. All my USPSA and 3 Gun videos can be found at http://youtube.com/user/caseyryanga This is my first post in here, and won't post an update to each video. If you want to keep watching (I don't do THAT many) just subscribe on Youtube!
  20. Random post, but guys I was just thinking the other day how much I love this gun. Light, so freaking reliable, comfortable, fast, low recoil, what else could you ask for?!?! Just ran a match with it after not being cleaned for several hundred rounds and a couple months. Dropped a little oil in there and still running so smooth.
  21. No idea what that refers to. I bought this: https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=533&TERM=extractor Thanks, I'll spend some time on this trying to get it to work. Actually just got a Glock 34 in a trade today, but I'm not sure if I want to make it a 3 gun pistol or keep it for HD. If I can't get this to work, I'll just turn that into the race gun and hopefully get that better reliability out of it.
  22. Ordered a .40 non-LCI and new extractor plunger and spring. We will see how that does. Anyone think 13# recoil spring is too much for factory 9mm and a lightened Glock 35 slide? Here is what the malfunctions look like: pic.twitter.com/qQgWM19WIw Also, I case-gauged all the rounds I shot this time, so I know it can't be because of a too-tight fit.
