  1. Clean a Glock?!?! People do that?

Finally, someone who thinks like I do. That's why I choose to shoot Glocks, cause you hardly ever have to clean them...

    -Cuz.

  2. Thanks for the info. I will surely order one soon to have as a spare and I guess I won't worry about it too much. I don't expect to shoot this all that much so maybe I'll end up replacing it every few years just because...

  3. I just acquired a Glock 26. I am wondering about how many rounds or how often the recoil spring assembly should be replaced. It's a different recoil spring than I have on any of my other Glocks. I'm thinking I should buy a couple to have "on hand" as spares.

    Thanks,

    -Cuz

  4. Does anyone know where I can get a couple of those little black caps that go on the two studs in my Safariland belt to hold the brass hook on? The hook popped off and all I have left is the studs in my belt and the hook itself. It looks like I need to bang on a couple of caps to hold the hook.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Cuz.

  5. Dan,

I know you didn't ask about other bullet weights, but since you are collecting info, I get excellent results in my G34 using a 124gr bullet. It splits the difference nicely between the 115gr and the 147gr. My formula is a Berry's copper coated 124gr RN bullet with 3.9gr TiteGroup powder and an OAL of 1.155 to get me a PF of 131.x in my G34. This load also makes Minor in my G17 which is nice in case I have problems in a match that force me to switch to the backup gun. This load also works great for me on knock-down steel. As far as cost, the 124gr Berry bullets cost a couple of dollars less than the MG 115gr bullets. Just something to consider when you run out of your current stash of 115gr bullets. For what it's worth, I actually prefer the Montana Gold bullets. They rock, and I pay the extra money to shoot them in my 40 cal guns. But I needed a "non-jacketed" load for one of the clubs I shoot at and that had me try the Berry's.

  6. +1 on the lube. I started using it about a year ago and it's made life sooo much easier. If you feel like you want to clean the rounds after loading but don't want to tumble them, do what I do. Take a bath towel and fold in half, then sew up the sides leaving just the top open, like a pillow case. Then you can dump in a few hundred rounds at a time and shake & shuffle them around a bit to get them wiped off. It's really very easy and faster than tumbling. Works great for polished brass too to get the dust off.

  7. Someone posted in another thread that they had a G21SF *without* the ambi mag release. Can anyone direct me to where these can be found?

    TIA!

    Eric,

To the best of my knowledge there is only one flavor of G21SF. The ambi mag release is part of the new frame. For what it's worth, based on the fact that the magazines for the G17 now have the same mod that the G21 mags have I'd bet Glock will be making a similar ambi frame for the G17 in the near future.

  8. It just happened that I had all three to compare side by side in the shop last week. Sorry. My apologies to the gods of the small block Chevy.

I was only teasing (in a good way). I really meant that the M&P can only be equally compared to the Glocks now that there are TruGrip wraps available for it. Before that, no non-TruGrip'd gun could ever compare to one that was "wrapped".

    -Cuz.

And, just to keep things on topic, I've had my G21 for a little over a year. The gun is big, but once you you wrap the grips the gun sticks in your hand and doesn't feel all that big anymore. Makes all the difference in the world.

  9. GET A 17 AND PRACTICE! :)

Practice? Are you talkin' about Practice?? Not a actual match, but practice!! How silly is that... Practice. I mean, I know it's important, I really do. But Practice? We're talking about Practice??? We ain't talking about the game, we talking about practice. Practice. Practice. Man practice. I mean, it ain't like it's a match, it's practice. You're not even talking about an actual match, when it matters. You're talking about practice...

    :)

  10. For me, the mathematical solution to this problem is simple. $50.00 - $60.00 for shipping and insurance (plus risk having another gun being ripped off by UPS or Fed EX) and up to a two month wait, or take fifteen minutes to punch out the three pins and do the work myself for a total cost of less than $15.00 (shipping included). I just wish that Glock would have installed a trigger bar in my gun that would have worked in the first place.

15 minutes!!! What are you going to do??? Stop for coffee between each pin removal?

    :)

  11. You can take yours to a "pro" if you want, but I feel no need to spend the money on a "pro" if I am perfectly capable of replacing the 4256 trigger bar with the updated 4256-1 trigger bar. The cost of insurance and postage back to Glock will far exceed the $15.00 or $20.00 that the updated part costs. I am just somewhat shocked and disappointed that Glock manufactured a pistol that just plain won't work, and apparently it is a common occurrence with the Glock 20 because they went to the trouble and expense of updating the trigger bar assembly.

Does that mean you can't just call Glock and ask them to send you the correct part? Would they do that? Or do they need to have you send them the gun?

Oops, never mind. I should have read further before jumping in with my post...

  12. I finally got to check out some rigs at a local match last Sunday. Someone was using a mix of TKW pouches from MLE-Shootingsports.com that looked very nice. They looked like exactly what I "think" I want. I went and ordered a pair of doubles for myself. It'll be a couple of weeks as they are not ambidextrous and I needed the left-handed version. I sure hope they work out. I'll keep you all posted.

  13. What a silly thread.

Who really gives a...crap? Busting balls is a big part of this sport! If you can't take the ballbusting, then you are probably not in the right sport!

Wait a minute PB. This isn't a silly thread, it's a ball bustin' thread. Like you said, Busting balls is a big part of this sport. Trash talking is the best part of my game, even if I can't back it up with skill. That's ok though because I can "take it" much better than I can dish it out. I have no problem bashing Glocks all day long, but when I show up at a match, it'll be a Glock that's in my holster (and in my nightstand). :)

  14. My relaxed rate on my RL550 is 12 minutes for 100 rounds. That includes stopping to verify the powder charge weight on a balance scale 2 times per hundred. The weight has never needed adjusting so I probably don't have to do this, but it's a habit, and a safe one so I don't mind. I fill up all five primer tubes before starting so that's not included in my time. I have no reason or desire to go any faster. Slow and safe is my motto.

  15. I have the Belt Feed for single stack mags and it's easily inside of the 2" rule. It will depend somewhat on the belt setup you have, but the mag that's farthest from my body (second one back) is less than 1.5" from the inside of the belt to the mag. Even a double stack mag shouldn't put you over 2" there.

The fact that they stagger the mags inside to outside as well as higher and lower makes it easy to just grab one mag each time as your hand goes back to get them. First reload your hand will hit the first mag without any interference from the second mag, and when you reload again you have a straight shot to the second mag...works like a champ. I've only shot a handful of matches with that setup, but I have dry fired a lot using it and I have yet to grab more than one mag or the wrong one, even under pressure. The probably should add a top view pic to their website to give you a better idea of how it's set up. R,

Thanks for the info. I'll pay more attention to see if anyone else is using them locally so I can evaluate them further.

  16. Excellent post, just a few years too late to do me any good... she didn't get knocked up in HS, and is proudly serving our country at the moment.

Well it certainly sounds like whatever you did worked just fine. I'm sure you're very proud of her.

As for me, I've got two little boys and I can only hope that I raise them well enough that none of the above will be necessary.

  17. I just called S&W and they said they "never heard this one before".

They mentioned that the "hand" was not engaging when I used my left hand and to adjust my trigger pull technique.

I asked if they could adjust the clearances or something so this would not happen no matter how I pulled the trigger.

    They declined. :(

Just my luck to get a brand new unreliable revolver... yay for me... :(

That does suck. there is absolutely no reason for that. I had a friend last year bought a brand new Performance Center 627 from S&W and when he got it the barrel had no rifling! It took a little while before he figured out why it shot so lousy. While that stuff doesn't happen often, it really should not be happening at all.

  18. Well, I just returned the Blade Tech Milenium pouches with the belt loops. They didn't work out like I had hoped. I was a little disappointed in the overall design. The belt loops are wider than the pouches so you can't place them close to one another without having a big gap. For now I put the Fobus pouches back on my belt and put the Blade-Tech with a Tek-Lock between them. That lets me put them close together and gives me one extra mag. I think I will probably use this until I can get to a couple of matches starting next month and inspect everyone else's gear.
