  1. Thanks Kellyn,

That's exactly the kind of stuff I want to know. Rifles are sort of new to me so I really don't know what I think I want. Since I'm not planning any helicopter trips in Mosul, maybe instead of cowitnessed sights what I really need is a quick disconnect capability on the optics just in case a helo full of zombies crashes into my safe and breaks my optics...

  2. Hi,

Can anyone recommend some optics options for my M1A Scout Squad rifle? It has a forward mounted rail. I want to be able to co-witness the iron sights thru the optic sight. I think that means no magnification on the optics but I'm not sure.

I don't have any real purpose for the rifle other than recreational plinking at 50 to maybe 300 yards max. Would an EOTech work well on this rifle?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Cuz.

  3. Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to get the 22" model. I am not planning to use it in competition, it will be just for fun at the range with iron sights. I've always wanted a semi-auto in 308 so this will be it.

I would like to mount a bi-pod on it for use at the shooting bench. Do I need a special attachment for this? Can anyone recommend one? I should probably make this a new topic, huh?

  4. The houge is a lot longer than most releases, and it is farther back on the gun. Not much of a stretch to release with strong hand thumb.

This looks very interesting. I'm going to have to find someone with one so I can check it out. It could easily save me some time and fumbling over the standard cylinder release.

    Thanks.

  5. I was looking at the Hogue extended cylinder release. I'm a lefty. I'm concerned about that cylinder release hitting my shooting hand during recoil. Can you left handed shooters share your experiences with extended cylinder releases?

As a lefty, how do you release the cylinder of your revo? I'm a lefty and I use my trigger finger of my left hand to release the cylinder. I just can't seem to find a decent release.

  6. I guess I stumbled onto this post at just the right time. I also want to know which Millet rear goes best with the SDM .250" front sight. I already have the Millet .360" rears with the SDM .300" front on a 5 inch barrel 625, but I just got a 4 inch barrel 627 and would prefer a lower profile front sight.

I am very interested in knowing if the different height Millet rears have the same width and depth notches.

    Thanks,

  7. I've shot TG steel loads in a mech-tech. They gain some velocity, but as Larry says, a slower powder will probably do a lot better.

You guys just threw me a curve ball. I went and ordered a MechTech in 9mm specifically so that I could use the same ammo I was shooting in my Glock pistol. I'm using 124gr Berry's RN with 4.0gr TiteGroup powder with a 1.139 oal. I'm making a 135 PF (1089 fps). Will that function reliably in the MechTech? I really don't expect to shoot past 50 yards with mine, it's mostly for carbine steel shoots at 25 yards. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

Uh-oh, I just realized this might be a hi-jack, but it's pretty much on topic.

  8. Well, it sounds like anyone who has or had one is happy with it. I can't find a single negative comment on them anywhere so I ordered mine today. I got the basic unit with M4 stock. I'll mount an Aimpoint red dot that was collecting dust in my spare parts bin on top of it and go from there.

    Thanks for all the input.

  9. I've looked at them a couple times, but have a little trouble with the price tag for something that would not get used all that much. Still, it is an interesting idea.

Let's see... $360 base price, $20 for the cheapest stock, $40 - $90 for a better stock, maybe $150 for a cheap scope. That's $530 - $600 plus shipping. Probably want a couple 33 rnd mags so add another $40. Probably looking at somewhere between $570 - $640.

    Adds up pretty fast.

I hear ya. Don't forget about the Glock lower you need as well. I would end up buying a frame to use with it since I don't want to keep switching back and forth.

I don't really even have a use for it, more like just a spot in the safe where it would go... It would only come out to play a handful of times a year at best. Still, they are intriguing and I haven't been able to get a 9mm AR so I believe the CCUs are available.

  10. Ok, I'm sold. I'm going to get a Mech-Tech CCU in 9mm. Now I'd like some advice regarding which stock to choose. $80 for the M4 collapsible seems steep, is it worth the money? Can I just attach any AR type stock to the CCU? Does anyone have the fixed stock? Is it solid? From the pictures it almost looks like it will bend rather easily. Does the M4 stock mount solidly to the CCU? I'm also not sure if I should spend the extra money for the monorail or quad rail. I have an old Aimpoint tube type red dot that I'm not using so I figure this will work well on the CCU.

I'd appreciate any info anyone can provide about the stocks and sight rails.

    Thanks,

    Cuz.

  11. I took Keen's old Glock 9mm, Mech-tech to the range. He had a C-more on top of it. I believe he had told me it wasn't sighted in, but I forgot to bring along adjustment tools. The targets we were shooting were these little chunks of 2x4's that a buddy cuts off...anywhere from 2-4 inches wide. He paints them white and sits them out toward the back of the berm. We probably start them off at about 40y, but when they start dancing around from getting hit, they end up on the berm at 50y or so.

Since I forgot the tools to adjust the C-more, I had to figure out the hold-off. It turned out to be about 5in of windage and 4in of elevation at that distance. Once I got that...I was knocking those targets all around. :)

So it sounds like it's a pretty cool toy.

  12. I've had one for a few months now and love it. I like the SF grip size much better than the standard large frame. It's more like my G17 frame. I did swap out the sights for a set of Ameriglow operators to complete the package.

  13. I've been running a Mech Tech upper on my G17 since they became available. The only ammo that has not been 100% is Blazer aluminum, everything else including lead, JHP, and ball has been great. Accuracy is very good for a short 9mm carbine. If I do my part, the carbine is capable of keeping a full mag on an IPSC target at 100 yards. I just checked my earlier post and nothing has changed. I use it in Pistol Caliber Carbine matches, bowling pins, and just having fun.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear.
