  1. This thread is old so I'm hoping to revive it to get an update. Is anyone still using the Mech-Tech for their Glock 9mm?

    How reliable are they?

How accurate are they? Accurate out to 50 yards? Farther?

I'm thinking of getting one so I'd appreciate any updates from folks that have them.

    Thanks,

    -Cuz.

  2. Hello,

I want to replace the night sights that came with my Glock 26. They are factory steel Glock night sights. I have a tool for the rear sight, but I'm not sure what's holding the front sight in. It looks like the portion of the sight that protrudes into the slide is just mashed outward in all directions to hold it on.

What I need to know is how do I take it off so that I can install it on another Glock?

And, of course, how do I then install the sight on the other Glock?

    Thanks,

    -Cuz.

  3. Between the G34 and XD-M, I'd say go with the Glock all the way. But, since you added the part about using it as a defense gun in the house and car, I'd recommend your friend consider a Glock 17 instead. You don't need that extra barrel length getting in the way in the small confines of a car.

  4. It started out as a G24, It was sent to Glock for some warrenty work ( unknown) and the owner requested a G35 Slide and barrel be installed.

You could always buy yourself a 3rd gen G17, or G22 pretty cheap and then swap the frames. Then you'd have a 3rd gen G35 and a great backup Glock in the G22.

  5. Man, you guys are lucky. All the stores in my area are selling G34/35s for $729 and regular G17s at $599. That is the going rate around here and the gunshows are the same to more.

You guys finding stuff under $600 have some great dealers or more competition or something. I know MD has to pay a bit more for certain specifications out state requires, but I find it hard to believe its $100 or more higher.

Sounds like all ya'll need to come down south to gods country to buy your guns. There still normal price here to. A 850.00 stock glock is just crazy.

$800 - $850 sounds about right for a new Glock 34/35 up here in MA, and that's only if you are lucky enough to find one.

  6. I finally acquired a few pre-ban AR mags, 30 rounders (stop laughing, I live in MA). The bodies are in great shape, but the springs are beat and they have the old black followers. I was looking at replacement spring/follower/basepad kits from Brownells and it seems there are two kinds of mag springs, chrome silicon or stainless steel. Can anyone provide any info as to the differences between them? Is one better? Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Cuz.

  7. You guys use lube on your GLOCKS?!?!

Whew, I thought I was the only one thinking that. I mean, I put a couple of drops on it after I clean it, but that's only once or twice a year at most. After all, it is a Glock.

  8. I doubt even if I somehow beat the top B class shooter that Tanfoglio is going to drop Eric or Henning and pick me up as their sponsored shooter or that groupies will suddenly appear at my door. Lastly, and most importantly it simply makes what I do for fun not fun. It isn't worth the effort.

    Just my .02.

So then who do you need to beat to get the groupies to show up???? Tell me please?

    :)

  9. I originally had Dawson adjustables with fibre optic fronts on all my Glocks, now I've switched to fixed sights on everything. It's amazing that the fixed sights shoot dead on with all my Glocks so I don't need adjustables. Currently I'm favoring the Warren/Sevigny Competition sights and am transitioning all my Glocks to those sights.

  10. just tried it.

searched sights, page came up showing 10

changed drop down to 100 and hit refresh. page came back up with 10

changed drop down to 100 and hit go on search. page came up with 100

I just confirmed that it still doesn't work for me. I tried it with Firefox and IE with no luck. Which "Go" button did you hit? The top left search or one of the keyword search button? Only the Manufacturer Go button works, but I don't want to limit by Manufacturer. It's very frustrating.

  11. Ok, this was going to go in the "Hate" area but I guess it's not allowed according to the rules, so maybe hate is too strong.

Maybe I can make it more of a "request for help". Can anybody get that stupid "Items per page" drop down box to actually work when shopping on the Brownells web site? I don't want to see only 10 items per page, and I don't want to have to select a manufacturer. If I'm looking for gun sights I want to see 100 items per page and I want to see ALL the manufacturers! Is it just me or is their website one of the worst to browse around?

  12. That's really interesting. The people I saw who did it the fastest skipped the middle ports altogether and shot everything from the outsides. Did he actually stop at each middle port or shoot on the move as he was passing them? I had a pretty fast time on that stage but his time of 23 seconds is amazing. I just had trouble with the outer swingers.

Skipping ports works if you are shooting Open or Limited. Dave only had 10 rounds between reloads so it almost seemed "convenient" for him to stop at each port and shoot. I'd say he actually stopped, however brief at each port to shoot.

  13. I'm curious... What was Dave's strategy on stage 7? (I'm also a Production shooter, and I thought that and "Guns of Harvarone" were the most interesting tactically for those of us with 10 round mags.)

Dave broke it down for me a couple of times to make sure I understood what to do. He started from the left side (Port A) and carved up the course into groups of eight shots. He shot 8 from Port A then the same at port b, and again from port c and ended up at port D. He was very fast, and efficient.

  14. For duty carry I would pick the 21SF with a 30SF in an ankle holster for backup. At the end of the duty day, the object is to go home safely. I would not make a choice based on what else I might like to do with a duty weapon. I see nothing wrong with using the 21 as a Limited/Limited 10 gun, in fact I bought one just for that reason before the ban before USPSA thought up Production & Limited 10.

I'm with LPatterson on this one. Pick the "best" gun for duty first. Then, "play" with it in whatever division it fits into and consider that as practice. With only the choices you offered I'd go with the G21SF. I would think the G35 would be a bit long for duty carry. Is there any reason you don't go with a G22? That may be your best bet for everything.

  15. It was a great match. Thanks to everyone who helped setup and tape. I got to RO Dave Sevigny on stage 7 who was fun to watch.

That was a wicked stage. Dave actually broke it down for me during the walk thru and I was all set for a good run, then the timer went off and I went into meltdown and self-destructed. I ended up with 5 Mikes. It was embarrassing, but not nearly as embarrassing as stage 6 with all those steel targets. Damn you Chris Martin (just kidding, I love shooting steel). When the smoke cleared on stage six I was standing in a pile of brass and spent mags. I needed 3 static reloads and went all the way back to my 6th mag on that stage. I was shooting like crazy, but nothing was falling. That was embarrassing!!!

  16. I shot my first ever Area match in Harvard, MA today. What a great match, the stages were terrific and the match was very well run. Somehow, some shooters in my squad got shuffled at the last minute and I ended up shooting in a squad with David Sevigny. It was awesome, since I also shoot a Glock in Production I was able to watch one of my favorite shooters show us all how it's supposed to be done. He was very nice, answered everyone's questions (and there were a lot) and offered stage shooting advice every time he was asked. It was a great experience for a strictly "average" shooter like myself. Then, on top of that, I also won an autographed Brian Enos book in the random drawing. I was in need of a second copy as mine was getting pretty beat.

It was a great day of shooting I will remember for a very long time.
