  1. If you go m4 though I do believe they make a 3x FTS magnification. I've been meanin to look into it more and ill shoot you the link if I find it.
  2. I'll post some videos up shortly. I've just got to play with the sight a little bit and figure out how. But yea, I've watched a few of my videos and seen where I could use some improvements... Not dropping the weapon when on the move, having a better grip(I won't count the last one, so cold my hands where numb haha). Just little things that will take time I guess
  3. Thanks y'all. I'm seeing that dry fire is where it's at. Looks like my Speratic practice is not enough. Ill have to get on it. And I'll try the eyes shut deal today. It's worth a shot. A lot of the High C and the B class guys say that I drop the gun and run to the next target. I watched a few of my videos and noticed that I do. Got to work on keeping it eye level and moving to the next target
  4. I have a m4 and it worked great for me when I had to clear three plate racks at a moderate distance. Sorry I don't remember exactly how far. But when the long shots came up I had a hard time. I still managed to hit the targets at 300 yards but I feel like I would have done so much better with a 1x4. I had a heck of a time trying to clear the Texas start at roughly 125 yards. If its a GREAT price I'd say pick it up for a back up but I'm me personal preference I'm getting something different with magnification. Good luck
  5. Thanks for the good read and tip. Now I'm going to have to try this a few times in a dry fire before work tomorrow
  6. Wow. That much improvement huh?!?! Guess ill just have to start doing it more often. What's the best way though? Since I don't have much of a yard I'm limited to my house and ill practice by picking a few small items point, aim, squeez. Then move a few steps and repeat. More or less trying to shot call my targets. Is there a better method ?
  7. So I've finally classed to the little 'ol D class. My problem now is I feel like I've hit a wall. I've done the dot torture drill a couple of times and dry fire every now and again (more could be done). But what's the best way to get to the C class and beyond. My live fire training is very limited especially now with the craze of ammo. My main practice is getting out there and shooting a match once a month. Any other tips out there? Thanks everyone
  8. I somewhat agree. Safety should be the biggest concern. I've seen a lot of people flash a muzzle while drawing facing up range. There's even a local match around me(not uspsa or idpa, more of just a tactical match) and I see it all the time because there's a group of new people every month. Myself and a handful of other people have even started wearing a vest there and stay a safe distance away. But I feel like its not just the new shooters fault. There is one range near me that will let you draw from a holster. And you can only go there if you are/were military or accompanied by military. So people around me have no real chance of good practice. It's a double edge sword in my area bc people have to start somewhere and that place is at matches
  9. Welcome. And crazy story my friend, but thanks for sharing the importance of double checking the powder. Good thing you walked away with all your digits.
  10. Hey Dan, maybe ill see you out there. Do you shoot uspsa there?
  11. Ahh, sorry. I'm still shooting limited. And have ventured to the open world. Good luck in your search.
  12. I tried a handful myself. Even paid I think two bucks for one and none of them picked up 100% of all my shots.
  13. I did my first 3G last month and I use a cr speed. The only concern I personally had was that on my second stage, we started with rifle in the prone. When I slightly rolled to the side I was almost laying on my pistol. I didn't like the idea of it being in the open and could possibly get damaged. I then switched to a blade tech dropped offset. Maybe it was me just worrying to much. I don't know. Something to consider.
  14. All depends on what you want and what it's for. Is it going on a open gun or a rifle? Are you looking for magnification and if so, how far of a mag. All that and on top of it, what kind of reticle do you personally like.
  15. Welcome! Starting slow with good hits is always best in my opinion. It's easier to shoot accurate and get faster then shoot fast and learn to be accurate. And at they end of the day you had fun and that's what counts. Hope you get to shoot soon and enjoy
  16. Had a good time like always today. Thanks to everyone at blackwater practical shooters for putting on another great event even for the bad weather

  17. Does anyone know of any classifier matches that may be coming up in or around the va area. I seem to always either miss them or something goes wrong with the classifier like today. Bad weather made the the classifier stage horrible and I am sure they plan to throw it out due to it. This will be the third time this has happened to me and after being a member for a year I'm still not classified. I've got to change this haha
  18. Sorry meant to add the link http://www.ncrr.net/ http://www.blackwatershooters.com/
  19. this GSSF, what do they do there and do they have a link? Haven't heard of it myself and I'm interested now haha. And yes, there's a ton of different matches. I don't know how far your willing to drive but in the Hampton roads area they offer IDPA at NCRR. it's fun and that's where I started. The stages aren't to complicated and gets you trigger time. If you look in a few other topics. They will explain IDPA in detail. Also, in NC they offer USPSA. It's a little more aggressive then NCRR but a blast all the same. again, other topics here can explain it a great detail. Those are the two I've done personally and recommend. You won't need much if you just want to go have some fun. Gun and a few magazines and a way to carry it all.
  20. Hey there. Welcome to BE and welcome to the shooting community. I'm in the va area also. What exactly did you want to get into? Classes or competition or anything? If so do you have an idea of what compition?
  21. Welcome. Uspsa is always a great time. But I have to side with you. I'm not a fan of the cold and bc I didn't pack right, some matches wernt as fun
  22. I'd say do the trigger job and get a set of sights that you really like. It's a solid gun. I carry a g17. Only thing I dislike is the size. Wish I got the g19 so it didn't print so bad under t-shirts or jackets. Still doable though
