Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Welcome. What part of VA if you don't mind me asking. I'm from the tidewater area and always looking for new people to shoot with
  2. I've shot a few matches in rainy and cold weather. I started to use a light Gortex outer shell pants and just any shirt I had that dried quick(I don't like to shot in a jacket). And like Sarge said, large trash bag and extra socks and shoes. I also brought one of them small absorbent towels for hands/phone/whatever.
  3. I like the "follow you eyes, let your body catch up naturally" idea. I think your body will perform fairly well when its all natural. but I've found that if I do not practice using both my hips and shoulders, that if its a long spread of targets, ill start to throw rounds towards the end. I end up squaring up the first target, and by the end I'm in a odd angle. Then that throws my recoil off slightly. I think in the end it all comes down to practice. As far as up and down goes, I cant say I've come across a stage where I have had to worry about that. So I personally have not practice for it in any manor. I would guess though, that leaning back could only be done but so far without compromising a well planted stance.
  4. hate the fact I cant shoot matches since I'm deployed, but love the fact that I'll have a new shotgun for 3G, new hunting rifle, and a couple other new plinkers waiting for me when I get back!!! WORTH IT!
  5. I appreciate the info. and its good to know they stand up to the test of time. seems worth the investment in the long run
  6. Welcome! I've been talking to one of the Fredericksburg guys about their competition. They seem very nice. Maybe see you there this summer. Also from the VA coast
  7. for the guys that are using the B&J P500, what's the variety of guns look like? And are you running the P500 or P500 Pro? I've been looking into getting a sight pusher and just wanted to see if y'all have run into a gun that it hasn't worked well on. looking to use it on Glocks, M&Ps, Sigs, EAA, 1911s. Thanks in advance
  8. WOOO! thank you for this post. I have been looking into getting my first 3G specific shotgun and was leaning to the 930 (the price is awesome). read a bunch of posts and I got scared. I think yall brought my hope back for being able to run some matches this summer.
  9. Welcome. Depending how far you are willing to drive, blackwater practical shooters hosts a fun uspsa and 3 gun match
  10. Just like Chris said. Just get out there with any gun with some mags. I started with my carry gun, g17, and four mags. It was all stock and prolly the cheapest holster/mag pouches money could buy and I had a blast. It let me get a feel for the sport and see how much money I wanted to dump into it. Good luck and have fun.
  11. Thanks for the great info. Sure helped me make up my mind if I wanted one or not
  12. The 5x5 training is a very good and well known program. I did it myself for about a year/year and a half before I got into strongman contests, which forced me to learn a whole new sport from lifting or powerlifting. To your question about " do you continue to PR forever?", I would have said no until I did some research and found a 70 year old female who decided that she didn't want to sit in the house a knit and instead grab a barbell and eventually competed in a power lifting comp. I think as long as you keep to your program and safely push yourself, with proper diet and warm ups/cool downs, then the sky is the limit. It's all what you do to preserve your body. Here is a link with a video of the 70 year old lifter. I found it very inspirational. She does more then some men in the gym. http://oldmuscles.com/blog/70-year-old-female-powerlifter/
  13. I got a padded multicam from gssgear.com.
  14. Ha. Tried it today. I'm with latech. It took me a little to get my POI straightened out. After that I was good. Wasn't a perfect 10/10. Solid six in and the seventh on the line.
  15. Welcome. Your more then welcome to shoot with us at c2 in the va beach area and uspsa down in moyock. I'm from Hampton roads myself
