  1. I wouldn't rush to sell the K40s yet if you think there is ever a chance that you might want to shoot shorter OAL rounds through it... I have "some" personal experience right now that suggests the .40 mags might be better if your OAL is under 1.145 which I believe is the max that will fit in the K40 mag.
  2. Stock for stock, the Limited is about $300 more, before any aftermarket work. It will also likely be the better choice for USPSA Limited division at the end of the day due to the heavier overall weight of the cone barrel and longer dust cover, and you'd want to be shooting .40 major obviously. For 3gun, I don't know.
  3. As mentioned, it is his job. How much time do you spend at work every day? That is the amount of time he's shooting, or doing directly supporting activities. You could burn a lot of ammo pretty fast spending that much time practicing... if you could physically take it, that is. The fact that there is only one of him is just a reflection of the (lack of) money in this sport compared to big money commercial sports. If the world shoot prize was $10 million cash, you'd have guys that are pro golfers, or pro soccer players possibly coming over to shoot instead, and it would be a more competitive sport at the very top, with more than 1-3 guys in any division that have a realistic chance of winning.
  4. The Stock 1 has a cone barrel which automatically DQs it from anything in IDPA.

    Just got a P-09....

Even though I swapped over to the safety on mine for ergonomic reasons, I have no intent to ever use it... da/sa for me, shooting from all the way hammer down first shot.

Thanks, didn't see that about the springs. I'd really prefer an adjustable rear since I like a really fine tuned zero, but, will give the fixed a try. The stock sights are actually bang-on zeroed with my competition load...

That would be ideal.... Does anyone know if the recoil springs on the bottom of this page fit the P09? http://cajungunworks.com/spring_kits.html
  8. Nope, I still have not shot it, sorry.... I was considering shooting it at the Southeast Regional Pro Am here coming up, but, I've still been 100% using the Stock 2s for everything. Maybe after Pro Am I will just commit to shooting it for a few weeks.

I'm also a little worried that the rear sight is not adjustable... so we'll see how that plays out. The CGW pro package comes with an aftermarket hammer.

    Just got a P-09....

I don't think I updated this thread before, but the last thing I did with the P09 was put in a 13lb recoil spring and then try to shoot it at speed a little for the first time. I was missing a lot of resets, so, I assume the reset is longer than my Tanfos. Impressions on what I'll continue to change: 1) I'm going to go even lighter than 13lb on the recoil spring; it is still too stiff in my estimation. Since it is a hammer fired gun I bet it can be dropped to 9 or 10lb with no issues and make for a sweeter return. 2) I just got the Dawson sight set in from CGW, hoping to install this soon. The front sight looks a little fat, but I'm sure I'll be able to deal with it. 3) That leaves the trigger. The CGW pro package sounds pretty sweet, but that would technically throw it out of production and SSP. I might do that anyway as I can't imagine ever having a reason to shoot this gun in USPSA, and no longer really care what division I'm in for the couple IDPAs I shoot every year. I also got a Bladetech holster for it that I have not tried yet, but it feels like it will do exactly what I want so far.
  11. I've never seen an Elite frame that gets used that does NOT have some degree of what looks like rust speckling under the beavertail, but yours looks worse than any I've seen.
  12. I've spent time shooting with both, and in my opinion the new style feels thicker. It is enough of a difference that I would like to standardize on one or the other.
  13. Plus if the slide stop is integral to the lockup, wouldn't swapping them potentially impact zero? Maybe not enough to matter.
  14. I'm OCD about knowing exactly how many rounds I have on each part, so I'll probably just change it once a year and call it good.
  15. I have about 14k on my highest round count Tanfo; sounds like I'm good to go for a while. Gun still shoots tight groups.
  16. Stock 2 shooting 135pf... is there a point where I should preemptively replace the slide stop?
  17. I finally got all the bottom corners of the extractor radiused as advised by Cha-lee and others. I haven't shot it yet, but, it is butter-smooth now through that part of the loading process, and in fact I think it feels even better with .40 mags now instead of 10mm. I probably won't have any time or desire to shoot this gun again until after nationals, but when I get a chance to try it out I will report back. Unlike most I'm a little OCD about dirty guns and try to be a frequent cleaner, but will let it go a minimum of 1k to make sure it is still running a little dirty.

    Just got a P-09....

What are all the sight options for this gun? I'll eventually want the typical competition setup of a thin FO front, and adjustable black rear to match my other guns. I shot 100 rounds through it yesterday with some out to 50 yards, and it looks like the stock sights are bang-on zeroed, but, I would like to have the picture match my other guns. Also I'm not going to have an easy transition to shooting this gun at speed until the trigger is better, which is on the agenda of course...

    Just got a P-09....

Non captured CGW steel guide rod just arrived; looks nice and probably also a little heavier than stock... lighter recoil spring and rod go in tonight. It looks very similar to the SSS rod I ran in my M&P... I might mic some dimensions and see if they look truly interchangeable.

    Just got a P-09....

I *think* that only applies to P07's, and the P09's didn't come out till later with all the new features. The P07's were upgraded after the fact with the additional stuff that was introduced on the P09. If that is not completely right I'm sure someone will correct me.
  21. Stock 1: 4.5" cone barrel, short dust cover Stock 2: 4.5" cone barrel, full dust cover Stock 3: 4.75"ish straight barrel, full dust cover, rail Limited Pro: 4.75" straight barrel, short dust cover I believe all will be large frame in the US market. All are production legal. The Limited Pro can be made IDPA legal for sure, but stock it is very, very close on OAL... depends on which box you get. None of the others are IDPA legal.
  22. Personally I've never had this problem in 9 or 40, and I see the same thing in terms of the top round in the mag being dragged just a bit forward when the round above it gets stripped off. I've used only 180 Xtreme and 180 Montana Gold in .40. Both have a pretty short/flat nose. Silicone spray to the mags/and or inside of the magwell makes everything VERY slippery. That could be one thing to try.

I don't think the stock trigger feels any different with the safety vs. decocker, but I didn't take a gauge to it or anything.

Sorry I'm new to CZs... are you the CGW guy? Thanks.

    Just got a P-09....

I don't think I have nearly enough rounds through the P09 yet to really form any kind of opinion, but since a stock 2 is 44oz unloaded I'd be very surprised if it is quite as soft as a stock 2. That said, in my 38 rounds without the decocker digging into me, it seemed very pleasant to shoot. I'm also expecting a more apples to apples comparison after the rest of my planned mods are done. The metal frame CZs (shadows, I believe) that I've held have been generally too small for my hand except for one that had some extra fat grips on it. The P09, I wouldn't want any smaller than it is especially in the beavertail area, but I do think I'm going to be able to handle it well.
