  1. I agree on the too many websites. The other problem is the 3Gun part of his website is often not up to date. Fred told me to check on here for his match updates. Seems backwards but I'm good with however Fred does it(like he cares what I think...:-) see you this weekend.
  2. Larry, I like your style! look for me in the bales!!! Looking forward to shooting with you again. If not sooner see you at Fallen Brethren 3G.
  3. Larry, none taken, your very right, the only thing is once I get rolling I have to stop and I don't want to end up in a pile at the bottom of the hill.... I think I'd do better if they had some people we had to run over as we move around, I can do that.
  4. You can use the ELS system with any belt by using tech-locs to secure the receiver to the belt and put the forks on whatever you're trying to attach.
  5. I've used the blade tech drops. They work well. Note that they drop and kick the bottom out some. I think this helps in retention. I use them on my holster and my MKA 1919 Taco mag pouches as so much of the 1919 magazine is sticking out over the top of the holder canting them out at the bottom, if you will, aids in retention and makes grasping the top easier as its lower.
  6. barrysuperhawk, Great reply. I will give this a try. Safariland customer service had no solution to the issue but this looks like it. Just in time as my MKA 1919 taco mag pouches ended up hanging upside down on the last stage Sunday. Thanks.
  7. All I just want to echo what Fred wrote above. There is nothing physically or shot distance wise that should stop anyone from shooting at CCC. I'm 53 6' 5" 300# I can do it. Do I run as fast as some guys? No, but I have the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on! I always meet great people and learn a bunch. This past Sunday was great, meeting good people like Larry and Charlie. Larry I hope all the rust isn't gone I can't keep up with you now! Fred gave out lots of pointers. I got smoked on Rifleman's Ridge by Elizabeth just like most everyone else. Elizabeth is an excellent shot, a real lady and very helpful. It was great seeing you all there and I'm looking forward to June.
  8. There's more to shotgun ammo than the shot size. You need to shoot higher power 7.5 shot. I shoot 3-3.25 dram loads to break in. My Versamax was picky its first 250 rounds or so. It wanted 1250 FPS or better. Now it runs it all. I also ran it wetter and left the bolt locked open for a few weeks in the safe. Different brand shells run better or worse in each gun. I ran Remington Heavy Dove from day one and it was all good.
  9. Thank you, that's a very important point. I'm glad you brought that up. I left a bit of information out of the original post. I have a KKM G17 barrel and Carver 3 port comp on back order so I should be GTG.
  10. I checked the list. My Para is a relatively new model, it has a factory mag well so Production is out. I think you guys nailed it on the Glocks just wanted to be sure I interpreted the rules correctly. Forgive my ignorance but once I start reloading I could shoot my G17 in open either Minor or Major PF depending on my load? Thank you again for the help.
  11. I am an IDPA (6 matches) and a 3 Gun (3 matches) shooter. I'd like to try USPSA and SCSA shooting. I own a G17, G34 and a Para Pro Custon 14.45. The Glocks both have had the finger grooves removed and the grips textured, iron sights on the G34, Fast Fire III on the G17, the Para is stock. I shoot ESP in IDPA and Tac Ops(34) and Open division(17) in 3 Gun. What divisions could I shoot and with which weapons in USPSA & SCSA? I have tried the search function and could not find an answer. I'm pretty clear on the Glock's (Limited for the 34 & open for the 17?) but don't know what the Para is considered? At this time I do not reload but will be up and running by the end of the summer. I'm 53 no kids, divorced with a good job so spending some $ to get to the right division is not a big issue (please don't tell me to buy an STI, I can afford one but I'd only embarass myself worse missing with it...LOL) Thank you for any help you can provide.
  12. Yes I'd like to hook TACO mag pouch to ELS fork to be inserted in an ELS receiver mounted via tek-lok to a Double Alpha belt. I guess in your solution I just put some holes in the panel and mount the ELS fork to it? If you search Safariland part number 6094-24-2 you will see what I mean. I use the ELS 34/35 system this is the MLS 16/17. I was looking for something more like just the plate since I have forks? I also don't know if MLS 16 forks fit in ELS 35 receivers?
  13. Thank you, I have seen some of those panels with forks attached from Safariland directly. They run about $35 with fork attached. I was just wondering if a cheaper alternative existed? I tried googling the molle panel and did not find quite what I was looking for. Thanks.
  14. Well that is a solution that will work. Since I've already got ELS/Tek-lok's on my Double Alpha belt I'd like the flexibility they provide. I like not moving my Tek-Loks once set and just clipping on what I want. I shoot both tac ops and open so I swap between 4x4 shell holders and the TACO mag holders for my 1919. Thank you for your suggestion as it is a solution I was hoping someone knew what I needed to make the ELS work? I think I'm going to check the vendors area and see if Safariland has a thread.
  15. I run Safariland ELS connectors on Tek-loks to rapidly shift my gear for different stages. I'm interested in mounting some TACO magazine holders. They are molle on the back. Does anyone know what I need to get/do to attach an ELS fork to molle webbing? Thanks for any help provided.
  16. I have a MTAC. We shoot to 500 yds locally and I don't have problems getting hits. I wish I had bought the Vortex instead of the MTAC but since I didn't I can't see spending more until I'm better than the scope. If all you are doing is 200 yd local matches I say wait and shoot a long match and you might surprise yourself. But if you struggle then upgrade. That said if you find someone who gives you $400 for your MTAC see if he wants two...
  17. I'm no authority but I think the stages would dictate your optic choice? If its a lots of 300+ yd shots I'd reconsider the red dot/magnifier idea and go with a 1-4x. We were practicing for a match and my buddy was shooting a red dot with a 6x magnifier and he was not good from 300-500yds. I will say it was a Primary Arms house brand so I'm not familiar with it. I think he went to a straight 6x. I shot a Millet 1-4x for awhile and did well with it. It is way better than his red dot and 6x. I recently switched to a Burris MTAC 1-4x and its much better than the Millet. It is less sensitive to head placement and since 3 gun is usually lots of different shooting positions that is a big plus. I really like it, good hits to 500yds. We'll see how I do <25yds with it this weekend. I'm old and wear glasses and in hindsight I wish I'd gotten the Vortex 1-6X for the added 2x. But I'm divorced, no kids and a good job so while I can swing the $, it might not fit everyone's budget.
  18. The OP, Bob is the Match Director. You can ask him in a PM I guess? I do not think the stages will be posted. I only say this from previous experience not because I'm affiliated or an organizer. If its at CCC its GTG in my book!
  19. I can't think of a better way or a better place to spend a Sarurday. The eyes of Texas will be upon us!
  20. They changed it to a 1 day event due to weak turn out. Will be 4/27 only, see you there.
  21. I believe the LSSA is having their World Championship 3 Gun Match at CCC on 4/27
  22. Dang it, no agreeing to weekend honey do's before Friday morning so I can catch these last minute match announcements. I love shooting at CCC, Fred runs great matches.
  23. Fred, any chance of running this on Sunday too? I'm hemmed up Saturday. It would be great tune up for the LSSA thing out at CCC too. This is Ward I'm the big guy who shot with you and Trae and D Friday before last at your tree. It was a great time, thanks for the tips.
  24. I own a VM Tactical and a FN SLP Comp. My buddy has the JM 930. The fit and finish of the VM is better than the JM. In particular the welds on the rib are sloppy on the JM. I love my VM, I grew up shooting an 870 and that may have something to do with it as they feel similar. I have had some issues with light target loads not cycling the VM's bolt back far enough to strip the next round and seat it in the chamber. This was with a low round count of about 150 rnds. These were the light and cheap Estate brand target loads 1oz shot and 2 3/4 dram powder loads. I shoot 11/8th shot 3 dram all day long 3 Gunning. It also shoots those same light skeet loads from better manufacturers without a hitch. My VM was $1050 and the JM was $690. JM is a lot of shotgun for $690 but I prefer my VM.
