  1. I've ran the BBIs in a couple matches now. 100% reliable and very consistent velocities now that I have things ironed out on my end. I've already ordered a bunch more and I'm very happy with them.
  2. My first match was with a Glock 19.
  3. I'm running a EGW Tungsten guide rod with a 14# spring in my HP Brazos. I also put a extreme shooters grip on the gun. The return is good. It didn't slow my transitions. The biggest difference in recoil feel so far was when I went with BBIs over some WST. Just my input.
  4. Update: The brass I used to make the first 200 rounds for this weekend was all the same brass (Fed NT). The crimp was .421. These rounds functioned 100%. I made another 200 with mixed brass and about 40% of them would not barrel check. I adjusted the crimp until all brass would barrel check, which turn out to be around .420. I pulled 5-6 to check for "ring around the collar" and one had a slight impression, but no sign of digging into the coating. I almost wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't looking closely. All mixed brass rounds fired 100%. things to note: I saw a velocity increase to about 171PF, but this was probably due to a 10 degree difference in temp. out of 20 rounds through the crono there was only a 22 fps velocity variance. Some of the mixed bass rounds did need a second go through the crimp die which may indicate another crimp adjustment is needed.
  5. I didn't state it before, but I am using a Dillon crimp die.
  6. I re-set the crimp the same way as before and remeasured. It is now .421 on the dot. The only difference is I did not give it the recommended 1/8 turn after. All rounds gauged and barrel checked, I checked the crimp measurement on every 1 in 10. I loaded 200 more and I'll be headed to the range this weekend to run them. I'll post results.
  7. Bob, Sorry, I posted before I saw your response. That would be awesome since I think you are probably the only person I would let touch my gun. As soon as I get it cleaned and get some rounds loaded to Mr. LaFrain's crimp I'll get them out the door.
  8. Chandler, Will do when I can get some pictures, but your reasoning sounds logical. I'm not sure I'd feel to comfortable with the reamer option. I didn't realize that it was too tight. I only adjusted the crimp until they would pass a barrel check. I pulled a few to ensure the crimp was not digging into the coating.
  9. I recently decided to switch to BBIs from MGs for the obvious $ reasons, but I have a strange issue. I thought I'd see if anyone here could help. I've done all the load testing. This last Saturday I loaded 200 rounds for practice and during practice I had 7 failures to feed. The rounds wouldn't chamber all the way. I either had to hit the back of the gun to get them to chamber or pull the round via grabbing the slid and hitting the grip. The pulled rounds were looked like the coating was stripped off on one side. I don't know whether the stripping happened from cambering or if it was from me pulling it. My initial though was a crimp issue, but would that strip the bullet on the way back out? Any help with this would be awesome and my gun and load data follows. I can't run a gun that is not 100% and my gun is 100% with MGs. I'd really like to make the switch to Molys. Brazos HP Edge 5" 180gr BBI 1.80 OAL .418 Crimp 4.7gr WST 169PF
  10. Older topic, but http://www.osteobiflex.com/ This stuff has worked wonders for me after my Dr. recommend it to for some lower back issues I was having. I don't feel like an old man anymore. I hear the off-brand stuff works just as good too.
  11. I have not been able to get skate tape or the Dawson tape to stick to my STI grip for more than a night. I'll be watching this topic.
  12. I received my HP edge early last month. After a couple thousand rounds and four matches, it's still running perfectly. No hiccups at all. I know it's not one of your full customs, but the work is awesome. Thanks guys. I look forward to a full custom from you guys in the future.
  13. Mr. Anderson, I recently had a change in my though process as it concerns to USPSA shooting and given your past, I thought you would be the perfect person to run it by. Just to make sure I'm on the right track. A bit of history. About 3 years ago, I decided to get off my ass and start doing things I've always wanted to do. One of those things was learn how to play guitar. I picked up an acoustic and started learning. One of my biggest challenges was teaching my hands to do two separate things. One hand strumming a rhythm and the other making chords and putting these together make a song. After a good couple weeks of practice, I got it, but it was a challenge for me. I will not profess to being good at playing, but I do enjoy it very much. I started shooting USPSA in January and to date I have made great progress. While shooting my last match ( a local match), I realized a similar situation as playing the guitar. My trigger finger playing a rhythm based off the distance of the targets and my offhand driving the sight picture (the chords). This was the best match I've ever had, by leaps and bounds, and I placed in the top 10 of 40 in the limited division. When I saw the scores, it was a "oh sh*t" moment. The downside was if my trigger finger didn't have the right rhythm I would miss my A, but I was able to call all my shots. This may seem a little stupid, but I guess I'm looking for some kind of reassurance in my theory here. I just purchased your books, but I do not have them yet. We'll see where they take me. Thanks for reading this.
  14. It's never to early! Go shoot the level ll! You will never look at a local match the same way ever again.
  15. I've used SPM primers in my g34 9mm loads. I had light strike issues with a light striker spring. After switching to the standard striker spring I had no issues at all.
  16. I do half my dry fire drills facing a blank wall in one of my rooms. I stand just close enough that my barrel is about 2-3" from it. This makes it easy for my eyes to focus on the front sight without distraction and also trains my eyes on where they need to be. I had the same problem and doing some of my drills this way have helped greatly.
  17. Yeah, springs are always a must. I do change them regularly and I keep a round tally in my range bag. As Warpspeed said It has always been imperative that the week before a match especially level II+, that I clean my gun, break out the chrono and fire a hundred rounds through it. Only once have I every had an issue durring a match, but have spare parts in my bag saved my ass. So what I'm looking at right now is: Firing Pin Firing pin stop Tuned extractor Extra mag springs and followers tools The gun uses a recoil master so I was just thinking of buying a second for a quick swap if needed and honestly I'm not sure if I'm going to switch to a full length guide rod, but we'll see. Outside of that, I'm not sure what other springs I would need that I could fix on the fly.
  18. I'm not really all that sure what forum this needs to be in, but I figured this was as good as any. I am switching from a Glock 24 in USPSA limited to a Brazos HP STI edge. Currently, I have everything but a frame and slide for my glock in the range bag for emergency repairs. I was wondering what I would need to get for the STI to use as emergency repair parts and which do I need to take to a gunsmith to have fitted before hand. I'm can break my glock down in 5 minutes, but I'm 2011 retarded. A second gun for emergencies would be best, but the Glock is being sold and I don't have the money for a second STI. I'd rather spend it on ammo anyway. Thanks
  19. Bob, I recently put in an order with you for a HP edge and I'm starting to look at loads for it. This will be my first 2011and I was wondering if you had any personal experience with Bayou Bullets. Normally I run Montana golds, but with availability the way it is and the price on Bayou's, I can't avoid entertaining them. I've read a lot about them online and they receive praise, but a real opinion would be nice. The current plan is to run 180gr Bayou's over 5.3gr WSF at 1.180 OAL and work my way from there. Thanks in advance.
  20. +1 for the fulcrum I've tried a few and this has been my favorite for my limited gun.
