  1. Maybe you should try putting skateboard/non-slip tape on the grip.
  2. Shot a small local match last weekend. Snow has melted but the range was very wet and we were warned that good footware was needed. I used trail running shoes with socks/feets in plastic bags in case it would be really wet.. and it was.. Did my last stage as the second to last competitor, stage had turned to mud. The stage was a 8 yard run to one side and pick up the empty gun, load and then shoot ~8 targets while going back to the start position. After signal i ran over, picked up the gun, loaded, shot one shot, mag fell out, I tried to catch the mag but lost it, attempted to pick it up but it was dirty so I picked the next mag on my belt and continued shooting. Then a quick movement to the next target and I stepped out of my right shoe that was stuck in the mud. Did the rest of the stage slipping around in the mud in my sock.. Ended up second to last on that stage, 25s should have been ~18s, 5/13 overall. Lessons: 1. Tie shoes tight when running in mud. 2. Learn to load a gun. 3. Don't try to pick up dropped magazines. 4. Learn to focus and ignore distractions. Unfortunately no video
  3. Has anyone used the Tanfoglio rubber base pads? (I read about the problem with dissassembly but glueing them on and adding a hole in the middle should work.) BR /J
  4. Stole these from FB group Stock III. 28.71mm is then 2.871/2.54 inches. /J
  5. Ok. If needed I might look into swaging, had not heard about that before.. I also run into Magtech with tight primer pockets, no one wants that brass. I think it's Magtech 'Clean Range' and the Swedish police use it for training. Depends on what I can get my hands on.. (Sorry about the crappy quality of the photo, looked ok on the phone but then I had to cut it down to match the 500k limit and it went bad.)
  6. Ok, thanks for you comments! I will focus on using my other brass (and get some more) and store the S&B for use as 'last resort'...
  7. Bottom left primer not fully seated. The ones above with flattened primers.
  8. Hi, I'm pretty new to reloading, only doing 9mm in an XL650. I mostly have Magtech 9mm and use Federal 100 primers with no problem. Yesterday I tried to load some old Sellier&Bellot brass and had real problems with seating the primers. I googled and realized it could be due to the primer pocket mouth not being beveled and/or brass actually being brass covered steel (will check that..). Most of the brass could be primed but required some more force than Magtech. But in some cases I had to pull fairly hard which resulted in the primers being deformed, flattened.. Questions: 1. Is it safe to force a primer into the primer pocket so hard that it is flattened or is there a risk that the primer detonates? 2. Are rounds with flattened primers safe to shoot? 3. What is the correct way of deposing shells that does not meet standards? i.e. failed gauge test, primer not being fully seated, primer flattened etc. Do you pull the bullet, reuse bullet/powder and throw primed case in the trash?
  9. I always eject the mag into my left hand and then holds it with my right pinky finger before racking and show clear (right handed). And when I rack i flip the gun over to the side and hold my left hand over the ejection port so the round drops into my hand. That way I show the ejected magazine and the empty chamber and I'm 'trained' with the feel of holding the mag and ejected round in my hands. Always do the same procedure, keep focused and follow the RO commands. Show clear until RO instructs hammer down. And only unload while standing! The last position on the stage might be kneeling, sitting or whatever, always get up standing before unloading. That way you won't try to holster your gun in some stupid position.. Hotshots that does the unload procedure quickly wihout waiting for instructions, catch the round in the air at the same time as they are looking at their hits in the targets are not good role models for new shooters.
  10. I installed Max Michells Shotcoach on my IPad, seems like a good way to analyze training/competition runs. Have not used it much yet though (too cold..). https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shot-coach-video-analysis/id605565597?mt=8
  11. The Stock III barrel is 12mm (.47 inches) longer and it weighs 40g (1.41 ounces) more than the Stock II. Stock II AU and Stock III has the same length and weight. I suspect that the Stock III rail ads front weight that is comparable to the bull barrel. You also have the differences in trigger mechanism (Stock III getting more votes on the forums it seems) and the longer barrel (distance between front and rear sight) adding accuracy and weight (pro/con for IPSC/USPSA could be debated) In IPSC we can't change the internal parts in the same way as in USPSA so I'm not sure if it is ok to put the Stock III trigger parts in a Stock II (maybe it is since its factory parts). At the moment there were only Stock IIIs available and the Stock III was cheaper compared to the Stock II on last years price list (~$300) so the Stock IIIs sold better, fewer Stock IIs were imported. The price difference was supposed to be due to government contracts and larger manufacturing volumes. At my level in IPSC this will be a big step forward compared to my sturdy old G17 and I would probably be equally satisfied with a stock II or III. But it will be interesting to see what the pros run with this season...
  12. Ok, that makes sense. I agree that the HC guns looks really nice. I will post a picture when I get mine, will pobably take a month or two (or three..) to get the license. Cheers, /J
  13. Ok, I saw that serial is needed when ordering, good that they check.
  14. Hi BeerBaron, Interesting. This is a new area for me, mainly been handling Glocks and the difficult choice of finish then being black or green polymer This is utterly confusing.. Looking at the Special at http://www.tanfoglio.it/eng/catalogo/sport-amp-competition/stock-iii-special.html they state: "The Stock III Special has nichel(sic) finishing", no mention of GK or 'Hard Chrome'. Your picture of the AU 'Nickel GK' is not as dark as the 'GK' i handled (almost black). Looking at the tanfoglio.it website they have the other guns with GK finish that are also in a fairly light colour. But GK (short for 'Gun Kote' I presume) seem to be available in any choice of colour so maybe there are different versions. Maybe their 'Nickel' is a form of GK finish (i.e. called nickel in one place and 'nickel GK' in AU)? The special I looked at was more silver in colour compared to your picture above but with the same gloss, not as shiny as I would expect a hard chrome to be. On sites with multiple pictures of the Special (like http://shop.textalk....00&art=20774822) there is a difference in colour on the different pictures, maybe due to differnt light. From what I have seen so far my gut feeling is that there is no Stock III hard chrome version (but I could be wrong on this too). Maybe they offer different finishes on different markets or they are just lousy at communication...
  15. Strange, tanfoglio.it only shows three versions of the Stock III, the blued one, the nickel Special and the Extreme. My dealer also has a 'GK' version which should be the most durable finish of the three, it is priced slightly higher ($75) than the Special. I don't know the history here and if it was part of 2013 cataloge or not. Links (text in Swedish). The GK is dark brown/black 'metallic' colour, same wood grips as the blued one. Seems to be the same pictures on the website on the Blue and the GK unfortunately. GK: http://shop.textalk.se/se/article.php?id=39700&art=20949560 Special: http://shop.textalk.se/se/article.php?id=39700&art=20774822 Blued: http://shop.textalk.se/se/article.php?id=39700&art=20774820 Update: Found this picture on the 'Tanfoglio Stock III' facebook group, from December: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=699015893455643&set=a.699015856788980.1073741893.221957141161523&type=1 I guess the bottom left is GK and the right is blued.
  16. Newbie question.. I can't really understand the differen magazine models Tanfo has and what fits the small frame 9x19 Stock III.. In part I blame this on Tanfoglios web shop that does not seem to be consistent in naming. For example they have the C006 which can be ordered in 9x19 small frame but in the drop down list of gun models they do not show Stock II or III, closest 'match' is Stock/Buzz, http://www.tanfoglio.it/shop/caricatori/c004-05-caricatore-cromato-con-pad-in-alluminio-clone-2.html The C000 chromed magazine on the other hand can not be ordered in large or small frame but can be ordered for a 9x19 Stock II... http://www.tanfoglio.it/shop/caricatori/c001-002-l-magazine-extended-magazine-clone-2.html Q: Does the C006 and/or C000 work for the 9x19 small frame Stock III?
  17. Checked out the Stock III special (nickel, not 'hard chromed' as I wrote above) and the GK and I did prefer the GK. Partly due to my big hands and the larger wood grip panels but the GK also seemed to have a smoother action (atleast comparing these two specimens). So instead of a shiny nickel gun I settled on a (sort of) black GK with wood grips, so Instead of the planned Ghost One I will have to get a matching leather holster
  18. What I heard from the dealer in Sweden Tanfoglio will not manufacture the Stock III in large frame anymore. Would be interesting if you could verify that claim, I prefer a large frame..
  19. Hi guys, Im getting a new gun for IPSC production and will check out the Stock III, I'm in Sweden. I can't decide if I should wait 'an undefined time' for a Stock III Extreme or settle on a Special instead, which is available now. From looking at the pictures I think the hard chromed special looks much nicer that the extreme but the extreme is better value as it has all the extreme stuff inside (which I probably would end up buying anyway...) Do anyone know if any Stock III Extremes has been shipped from factory yet? As I understood the timeplan the gun should have been out end of last year. BR /J
  20. Ok, thanks guys, didn't think of ordering to the hotel. I will check around and compare the options. I'm pretty much limited to non-gun parts as some items need clearence to pass customs, but that's ok at this point. Cheers, /Joakim
  21. Hi all! My name is Joakim, I live in Sweden and I recently got a real itch to start IPSC shooting again (after some years of more dubious family oriented pastimes). Looking through my gear i realize that I need some new stuff like belts, range bag etc and this coincides quite well with an upcoming family vacation to Florida... I tried Google but evidently my google-fu is weak, I did find a couple shops that advertised IPSC type gear but no big stores (would be a bummer if they were out of stock). Could someone help me out here? I assume that there must be some well sorted store in Orlando or Miami.. We will be staying in the Lake Buena Vista area of Orlando and probably in the north east part of Miami. Any help appreciated! Cheers, /Joakim
