  1. I would definitely have to say, too, that .38 Super N105 loads are about the safest damn thing on the planet to load! :) If you were new to reloading and needed a place to start, you could do a lot worse ;)

I agree, best 38 Super powder I have ever used. But, and a BIG but, finding a place where you can buy it is always a hassle.

  2. I have had one for quite a while now, set up to my Super 1050. The KISS comes with a special powder funnel that replaces the one in your powder die. It does bell the case mouth a little bit more, to allow the bullet to sit in place until seated, but I have had NO problems reloading this brass again and again. I am shooting 38 Super and have reloaded some of it 5-6 times with no signs of splitting.

  3. My guess is the failsafe ratchet. It might be out of adjustment. I take them off.

I have heard this before and have questions.........

    1. What is the function of the ratchet?

    2. What does taking it off do? What negative things could happen if you remove it? How does it affect functioning of the press?

    3. Do you also take off the spring loaded "ratchet restriction tab" that the ratchet contacts at the top?

    Thanks for the answers.

  4. I have the CV 500 tumbler and it wasn't working right today, not tumbling as robustly as usual and making a different noise. Called Dillon and they helped diagnose the problem immediately. The small socket head screw that holds the flywheel to its shaft has disappeared.

They are sending me another but I am across the country so it will be a while. Can anyone tell me what diameter size/threads/length this socket srew might be, no parts list in manual. I could go to Home Depot tomorrow and be back in action. Should I locktitie it on, or not? Thanks for information.

  5. To all the New York Yankee fans out there, the news that Bobby Murcer passed away today from the brain tumor he had been fighting for 2 years.

A great ballplayer, he was one of my idols growing up. An even better broadcaster for the YES network for the past 20+ years.

Sorry to see him go, but he battled his disease with class, and I will miss seeing him on future Yankee TV broadcasts.

  6. I shoot with Randy all the time................that may be good or bad ;)

He is one of the safest shooters I know. We spent quite a bit of time talking about what happened and I know how bad he feels about the DQ's. He is super conscious about what is happening while he is shooting a stage and the football DQ was one of those things that just happened. He indeed was a great sport about the whole thing and I look forward to shooting with him again soon.

And yes, I was the idiot that chased the damn basketball :angry2:

  7. The local LEOs finished their qualifications and left all this once fired 45 acp brass (400+ pieces), so I picked it up. Got to keep the range clean, right?

Cleaned, inspected, lubed and tried to run through my 550. Deprimed OK but new primer (Winchester Large Pistol) will not insert into primer pocket, on any of them. Headstamp says "Federal", "45 Auto", and "NT" on it. Are these military primer pockets that need to be swaged? Or, must you use a smaller size primer for these?

    Any information or suggestions appreciated.

  8. My 4+ year old D-Terminator scale has bit the big one so I called Dillon to buy a new one. Didn't really want to spend $139+ but had to "bite the bullet" metaphorically speaking.

The Dillon rep told me about a program where, if you send in your old non-working D-Terminator, you can buy a brand new one for just $80.00. Basically, they are giving you a credit of $60.00 for your old non-working scale towards the purchase of a brand new one.

Placed my order immediately, thanks Dillon. Another example why I go blue!

  9. So the race to your doorstep is on!

    Leo,

You better catch a flight soon! It was nice to shoot the match at Frostproof with you folks last weekend while I was down there on vacation. Nice people, fun match. Thanks.

From what I heard from the distributer this morning, VV has discontinued N105.......just what I heard from them so don't everybody jump all over me. They got in 30 lbs, and I got 25 of them. Lucky!

  10. Want to add my .02 here.

A few years back when I got into this sport and started reloading I placed a call to Brian. He spent a long time with me helping to place an order for what I really needed. So, I got my 550 and made a lot of rounds with it.

A year or so later the itch started again, called Brian, and bought a 650 from him!

A year or so later...................repeated the phone call and bought a 1050 from him.

In all transactions, and ensuing questions, he was terrific. What a great guy to deal with. Not sure that the itch will ever return but, if it does, I know the phone number. ;)
