The way I understand it is stock CZ bushings with their steel quality can wear earlier than either the Cajun 10x bushings or the 1911-like ones on the CZ Custom Accu Shadows (of which I own one).  So if you do a lot of shooting, then I guess over time the Accu or the 10X will develop less wear-in and play at lockup,

The CGW bushing's have a smaller i.d. , it very easy to tell that the barrel fit is tighter after you install one. I do not know about relative hardness.

  2. On the CZ custom website they state that on a ransom rest the accu bushing game them sub 3" groups at 50 yards and that their Stock Sp01 gave them approximately 5" groups at 50 yards. I would expect similar from the shadow 2 variants but have not seen the data.

In the real world as others have noted, CZ's are known for accuracy period, the precision barrel bushing sold by CGW is a popular mod that seems to generally provide increased accuracy.

No offense, but if you do mot know how you reduced the time, it's really tough to keep getting better.

As I said before, logging times on standard drills (from training books or classifiers) allows you to drill down on what needs fixin', what is the biggest gap at that time period, and how to attack them. Start tracking that data to make true progress.

It would be interesting to compare methods of all the GM and super squad types & see if there is a lot of conformity of approach. Not saying their might not be just saying I would like to know.

This may not be exactly what you're referring to, but I've been tracking my overall match results in detail; where I placed, % of the leader, % of total points compared to the leaders, and also keeping a comparison of where I am next to a few guys that have been at all the same matches I have.

One guy in particular is a really good local shooter.  Five months ago, if it took him 100 seconds to shoot a match, it took me about 190-200 seconds.  Now, if he's at 100 seconds, I'm at 130-140.  Where I took off an entire minute, I have no idea.  But it's a little frustrating that I still need to take off another 30 seconds.  lol

Works for me. Also does not let things hide, if you are not going after the low hanging fruit then you know it.

Precise timing of the bits and pieces is nice when you are comparing different techniques / loads / equipment / equipment positions or if that is part of what makes you enjoy the practicing & the shooting.

Is anyone already shooting PCC in IDPA?  Is it fun?

    Typically + - 4 guys out of + - 40 at local events here.

They seem to have fun with it.

One guy has tremors with pistol but seems to be able to hold the rifle no problem so it works out really great for him.

I use to be in charge of safety for a foundry. Good old OSHA made heat stress an issue they would inspect you on. After much research I instructed our people on the following: pre hydrate about 15 minutes before they started work with water. Don't drink caffeinated beverages including coffee before or during work.

The no coffee thing has been shown to be incorrect, I was told the same thing for years & I love coffee, bastards.

    Other thing, bananas.

I usually dilute Gatorade with 3 parts water:   1 part Gatorade.    :)

We did that when I was working in an aluminum smelter (you put on a second layer of clothes to protect you from the radiant heat, it is hot).

It worked a lot better than massive quantities of straight gatorade.

    Balderdash.

A friend sent me some packets of electrolyte salts to be dissolved in drinking water.  The taste is vile so I mix the solution with Gatorade.  I alternate clear water and that blend throughout the day. I finish up with a bottle of straight Gatorade, drink plenty of water at post shoot lunch, and take a calcium citrate tablet before bed.l have had many fewer leg, foot, and hamstring cramps after a day on the range.  YMMV  (Your Metabolism May Vary)

I just drink water and take these if I feel the need https://www.amazon.com/Hylands-Cramps-Tablets-Natural-Relief/dp/B002YXUPGK/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_121_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JFWZY774M8SARY5V81MR .

Not all coated bullets are the same.

Many years ago had some that were worse than shooting swaged lead at high velocities.

Now with the popularity of the true polymer coatings, bayou, blue, ibjhead it's not much of an issue.

What maker are you using?  Maybe someone has already been there and can help.

As fate would have it I just noticed this Monday on SNS's website.

"Attention All Customers!  Over the years, we have noticed one common theme when it comes to dirty/leaded barrels...Powders with fast and or hot burn rates.  Here is a link to a powder burn rate chart.  We recommend powders with burn rates slower than the top 15 on this list, with the exceptions being Ramshot Competition, Red Dot, and N310.

We HIGHLY recommend checking out "Alliant Sport Pistol."  It's an excellent, cheap, and readily available powder that is made specifically for coated bullets.  There are plenty of other options out there, so please stay away from very fast/hot burning powders with our coated bullets.  Thank you! "

Had done almost all of my experimenting using fast powders (titegroup & bullseye) with coated bullet brands that had worked great for me in my other guns (Bayou & SNS).

Going to try some Sport Pistol & see what happens.

    Thank you for the inquiry!

I've used titegroup for years.  Small case volume, consistent metering from my Dillon XL650, inexpensive and readily available.  What else do I need to say?

A little bit of a necro post but same situation, I am typically slow to fix what is working.

The one thing I am wondering about that might make switching more imminent is leading with coated bullets. Never been a problem in any of my guns with titegroup until I bought a 929 revolver, 929 leads up and is a real pain to clean.

Anybody seen any difference with leading when switching from some faster powder to SP?

I recall there can be difficulties with the timer, if using a suppressor. Especially when the RO/Timer Holder cannot be very close to the competitor.

Suppressed or not, some of the most quiet guns/loads are hard to pick up 100% on the timer unless the r.o. is holding it closer to the barrel than the stage design might make safe and easy. Problem is worse with rain and bagged timers, it is frustrating running a mouse fart shooter on his 3rd or 4th reshoot while getting soaked.

The best idea I've heard for pcc rules lately is to bump them to 150 power factor so missed shot reshoots will be less of an issue. Many or most of the guns/loads are not a problem now but if you have one or two exceptions on your squad it can be a real pain in the butt.

You mean you aren't supposed to use your supermarket rewards card as the bottom overlay?

    overlay.jpg

Actually appears to be easier to see the distinct bright card edge under the clearish but overlay colored overlay than it would be to see the edge of a clearish but overlay colored overlay underneath another clearish but overlay colored overlay.

I'd file it under better ideas.

Also, those saying revolver can get grouped in with production and single stack as the “beginner” group have clearly never shot revolver.

It is a shame that 6 shot revolver is dead for practical purposes and 8 shot is very rare.

There is nothing that is more fun to shoot but you need people to compete with and the entry fee in both $'s and skill development is steep. You also need serious short term memory skills.

  14. Never tried bolo & stock hammer, stock hammer & 1 piece sear worked well for me for everything except reduction of pre-travel.  As mentioned by others it is a good way to go if pre-travel does not make you crazy, for me my other guns already have the bolo & minimal pre-travel & switching back & forth did indeed make me crazy.

Bolo gives you the reduction in pre-travel.

  15. "NOTE – For a trouble free install with the BOLO interrupter we recommend you have the Xtreme Sear and Titan Hammer installed on your pistol. These two items are a must if your looking for a trouble free install on your firearm."

That is from PD's website. I can not confirm or deny but I can say they they have treated me well & been a no bull poop group to work with.

he only thing I dislike is the amount of take-up or pre travel there is in sa.

Would installing a Patriot Defense "Bolo" disconnector take care of this problem?

Big time. I know it hurts but where I have gotten to is buy once & cry once with Tanfo's. A trained monkey can do the polishing, my success on bolo fitting is 3 of 4, the last gun I think I understood my mistake on but I didn't want to risk another $46.00 plus shipping so I let PD fit the second bolo.

Something else I like about their bolo fitting service is you are not messing about & maybe trashing a bolo trying to get maximum hammer travel in double action, I suspect they have that part down to a science & maybe a half dozen different test bolo's cut down to different heights to see what height a particular gun wants.

I'm headed to the range tonight to put some rounds on the factory grips again.  Though I've heard the Unica grips are the same size/profile as wood but have cut checkering, THAT might be worth a look.

@chaserracer did you pickup a pair of the Unica grips?

    $120. Ouch.

They would have to make me shoot better and run faster and never blow a stage plan. Making the wood grippy or maybe playing with some PD's & a vertical sander & then stipling I could see.

Factory wood or plastic grips - as they come, no grip tape - are by far the best compromise for me.

Factory wood are what got me to rethinking. Bought another gun & did not have enough aftermarket grips to go around & it seemed like I had better recoil control.
