  1. A&M has a pistol team, look them up, maybe you can help each other out
  2. Glad you found some good people to help get you started. I myself got paired up with such an awesome squad at my first match, still run with those guys and have made some good friendships.
  3. That thing only has 2-3 positions. For our purposes that's not gonna be enough. You might as well go non adjustable. Yep, agree. +1
  4. Definitely! Thanks for the insight. I'm sure I would have figured this all out on my own when zeroing and testing, but it's nice to belong to a great community
  5. Looks like I've got some experimenting to do! My plans are to run iron sights, guess Ill have to see how far out the matches around me shoot out to.
  6. Yep, that sort of thing got me my first and only DQ! Planning on turning my upper torso away from the 180 is in my stage planning with my reloads & shot counts!
  7. Local matches tend to not care, as it wouldn't give you an advantage over others. hint hint
  8. Traitor I'm not on the fencing team, sorry.
  9. Right now I am assembling my AR setup for 3 gun. Just waiting on my front sight rail to ship in for my JP handguard. Saw this video and am planning on using the 300yd zero. I like that you can shoot at 36 and have it be very similar to a 300. What do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iCNIRuQuBg
  10. Hey Mr. Kelley or anyone else who can answer...what is that front mounting base called that you have?
  11. Well I did, but it was only for 2 mags. They both ran flawless so I thought I was good to go. By Murphy's law, of course they give me problems at the match. I am new to reloading and purposely loaded my first batch way light. Figured if I messed anything up, I wouldnt want the chance of a hot round being the one to give me problems. Still had lots of fun, which is the main point to shooting! Finished 9th out of 22 for production. The malfunctions probably cost me a spot or two.
  12. Whats the general opinion about bullet flipping? Ive heard it go either way. Is this ever frowned uppon at major matches?
  13. Cool maybe you could sell it as a celebrity owned gear to someone Welcome to the forums
  14. Yeah I'd love to! Ive never shot a 34 or 35..been running a midframe Glock so far YES! ...until Mizzou comes to town
  15. Well you know me..iron sights with a production gun but I'd be willing to bet there would be some interest among other team members for running open guns.
  16. Hey yall, Just wanted to make a community announcement. Recently student government approved our request of a pistol club/team at UF! Our main focus is developing a shooting team , with a secondary goal (but just as important) of community outreach promoting shooting sports. We will be shooting through the Scholastic Pistol Program and are hoping to be in good shape for the SEC Nationals early next year. Right now we are working on acquiring the funds to purchase gear, steel, and of course ammo. Being college students, it is quite hard to manage enough funds to shoot on a regular basis. As of right now we are gratefull to have a GM shooter as our coach! I'm also in the process of picking up sponsors. So far we have our home range and pro shop; Gainesville Target Range, Alachua Farm & Lumber, and Lambo's Armory. Through SSP we have sponsorships through Glock, S&W, and Atlanta Arms & Ammo Some of you may know that SSP is a steel challenge organization but we also have interest in local, regional, and national USPSA/3gun matches Wish us luck!
  17. Changing my vote to 5 belt +1 for the gun. Ran out of ammo on a stage today...or I could remedy this by shooting steel better
  18. Yes, steel is such a joy to shoot. For practice, it's positive reinforcement...for competition, it can throw a wrench in the gears if you're not careful!
  19. Cheers, welcome to the forum
