  1. Looks like the wife and kids are sneaking me a Trijicon RMR for Christmas
  2. Thanks a Million Doug. Pretty darn close to what I had but I think my OAL is different. I'll give it a try
  3. I was watching some video yesterday and Rob mentioned that he was shooting his favorite 147 gr Montana Gold load in his XDM 5.25. He never mentioned what the load was. I'm sure this is a longshot but I'd be curious to find out what that load is? Yea, I know.......Snowballs chance right I know he posts on here as TGO and gives kudos to the XDM 5.25. My Son is home from Afghanistan and we went to the range yesterday. I had some 147 mg reloads and he bought a box of some no name stuff. That no name stuff was scary accurate. It was a 115 gr load but thats all I know. Yes, I thought about him being a crack shot as well but I tried some and it grouped better than my reloads. I was kind of bummed out cause I thought I had a good load. My load is 146 MG over 3.3gr of titegroup. If I can digress as well. I have to say it was a treat to have my Son home. He has been over there in the sandbox 4 times already over 40 months in that $%^ Hole. he's scheduled to go again in Dec. What happen to the days when you went to war for 12 months and that was it. I must say, I'd love to have him shoot against some of the local guys here who think they are all that! Man, this fella is good! HE says it's because his Dad taught him well! LOL.. Good Kid ! Anywho, if anyone knows Rob and might have some insight or if anyone has any clue about this I'd be all ears. I sent him a PM but never got any word back. I'm sure it's some type of liability thing .
  4. What?!?!? Why would you be biased toward the Stag 3G? I'll let you shoot my Colt Pro .308 if I see you at a match. We just won't tell anyone... http://i16.photobuck..._CR_Pro_308.jpg (not shown: Leupold VX-6) You should probably just give that too me since Stag's .308 isn't out yet. Bwahahaha! Technically...either is the Colt. P.S. Nice work on the 3 Gun Nation show! If I could shoot half as fast as you, I'd be a happy guy! Oh, here's my rifle after putting the Leupold VX-6 on it! Drooolllll Now I want one...Or should I say another. The crp-18 needs a mate
  5. I think they will start using this trigger on all the guns. My crp was doubling when I shot it off the bags. Called colt and they sent me a box...I shipped it back and got it back to me in 3 days with the newer trigger in it. No more doubles. They said some of the early CRP's had this bad habit.
  6. From what I understand, I would have to use contacts as the platform?
  7. I load the same as fringe and use LC brass...works all day long and bugholes at 100 yards
  8. Patrick, I like your thinking...I'll experiment a bit and see. One of the guys at the local gun shop suggested something called big dot or HD dots. I may look at that. I will say if I could lengthen my arm a few inches I would not need glasses.
  9. If the targets were at a fixed point...no problems. Lets hear some guys that have gone to red dots and how that changed your game. I have to say when I tried it I thought it was the answer to all my problems, until I found out about open class....a rookie in open class I guess I could do that LOL
  10. My Eye guy told me I can't have my cake and eat it too My distant vision is great. It's the vision from my chest to about 8 inches in front of my extended arm. He said he could make some glasses for me that had the bifocal/corrective lens on the top of the lens instead of the bottom but that made me crazy. I could nail a 8" plate all day long with this setup at 25+ yards but if the target had any detail or I had to shoot a hostage target..No go. I don't care about cost. I just want to continue to shoot. I doubt I will ever attend any big matches so local has no issues with a dot. But there's that what if I do go to a big match. I'll be playing against the big boys....Not sure hoe much fun that would be?
  11. Just getting started in 3 gun but have been shooting most of my life. 50 is right around the corner and I cant see my sights anymore on my pistol. Getting started in 3 gun and this brings up problems. I've tried different scripts etc and nothing is real comfortable. A buddy of mine let me try his Leupold Delta Point on his handgun and I thought "awesome, I don't need my readers or specs or anything" Also had someone tell me for 3 gun it would be very difficult to get any speed out of shooting a dot on my pistol because I would have to comp the pistol so the dot was easier to get back on and I would loose the dot most of the time. I wanted to shoot TAc Ops but if I decide to do a dot I have to shoot open. Can anyone with the same eye issues and shooting 3 gun with a dot give me some advice. Or, anyone shooting and needing speed give advice? To say this is frustrating is a understatement! Punching paper or small steel at any distance is getting close to being impossible. Without glasses, I can see targets pretty close but the sights are a blurry mess. With correction, the sights are clear as can be and the target a blurry mess. Thanks
  12. Had a local guy tell me it was a wilson. I have no clue if he's right. Part of me wants to say I have heard that someplace else as well but cant remember. I do know mine shoots awesome!
  13. Hey guys. Do you think I will need to drop the recoil spring weight with this 3.9 clays load?
  14. Sounds like I need to try some of those 200 gr SWC I was just going to use 230 RN to keep functioning reliable. Not sure if these little Kimbers like SWC? Gotta try right
  15. Cast or Bayou? I know Bayou has a different coating As far as plated. After crunching the numbers, cast is much cheaper really...Unless I'm not seeing something. From what I can tell they are almost as much as jacketed.
  16. Any of you XDM 5.25 owners using cast bullets? or even Bayou bullets? I'm shooting way too much and need to cut costs someplace. I can get the Bayou's for almost half as much as the MG 147's my 5.25 loves so much. I hate to do it but the funds for a month or 2 are gonna be tight. Look forward to see what everyone is shooting. Thanks Joe
  17. Outstanding...Gives me something to look for and give me a place to start. Regular Clays....Got it I think I'm going to invest in small primer brass that way it's easier to change over on the Dillon 650. I don't see any disadvantage to using small primers.
  18. I have another thread going in General reloading about switching to cast/Bayou. Anyway, The Wife and I just picked up 2 new Kimber 1911 for carry purpose. I don't want these babies just sitting around so I'm looking to find a good starting load that wont give me fits function wise. The Wife has the Kimber Tactical 3" version and it has a 18lb spring. I have a 4" from the custom shop and it has a 22 lb spring. Yes, I'd like to have a light load but don't want to mess with springs just yet. We are shooting factory loads right now (full power 230 gr hardball) I want her to appreciate the recoil. I was thinking Clays powder from what I have read here. I guess I could mess with the springs but the last 1911 I had was a government issue 1911 in the Marines. These compacts are a little different than the full size (spring wise) I'm sure it's pretty easy to change them out. I digress, yes, I would change the springs if need be. Mostly looking to develop a decent paper puncher for right now. Being new guns I have no clue if they can or like to eat SWC? I think our factory defense load will be a Remington 185 gr Golden Sabre or any other good suggestions. We love to shoot and shoot a lot. Went thru about 3K last month on the 9's So any advice on a good starting point would make my life a little more easy Thanks a million in advance
  19. I have my fingers in so many different pies right now. I would love to cast my own but it's not in the cards....Yet. I do know cast may be the way to go . What concerns should I have using cast or the Bayou bullets? I assume use lead data for both. I'd like to get a bunch loaded up but I need to (DEMO) some of these bullets and work up a accurate load. My 147gr MG load was awesome! For the Kimbers, I would be starting from scratch. If anyone has some suggestions on powder etc I'm all ears. Right now I use Titegroup for the 9's I was thinking of clays for the 45? It would be nice to keep it simple and use the same powder but I dont want to sacrafice accuracy or performance for convienience
  20. Got some samples coming from Bayou. 147's for the 9mm and 230 for the 45. Shame, I liked those Montana gold 147's I'll still load them for matches or something. I will say, those Kimber 1911's make my 9mm look and feel like a toy
  21. Was loading 9mm only and the Wife and I went thru 2000 in about a month. I was using the MG 147gr bullet. We now have yet more new pistolas... Just picked up 2 Kimber 1911's in 45...Purrrtttyyyy Anyway, I see they need a 500 round break in. These will be our carry guns. Anywho SO now need to load 9mm as well as 45 and we like to shoot a lot. I was thinking of going to cast or even the bayou bullets. Are the bayou ok to use as break in rounds? I mean the cost is lots cheaper the the MG bullets for sure. Do I need to change my cleaning process? Loading process? What do I need to watch for as far as leading? Only been using Jacketed . Look forward to some suggestions etc.
  22. I'd give Springfield a buzz. Seems like you r not the only one. Saw another post here with light primer strikes in the cold. Swell
  23. What sample pack did you get? 124's ?? JHP??
