  1. 24.5 gr H335 with Hornady 55gr fmjbt wc gives me nice little bug holes at 100 yards. This with my Colt CRP-18 Ar-15
  2. Add me to the club. I need a shotgun (s) my Wife and I went to a local match and we both got hooked. So lucky me, I gotta buy 2 of everything oh darn.
  3. Get the Colt I like the adjustable gas block..No locktite needed because it has a very solid detent system. This baby is a tack driver! I find if I tune the gas port to where it's happy, I open it one more click and it will function in any weather!! The Comp is awesome. Shurefire and you can attach a can to it if you want to somewhere down the line. Trigger is crisp and clean. The place I bought it had the Colt and a Stag..I played with them side by side as well as compare workmanship. The upper and lower fit were like a glove ...Colt won it for me. Resale is always going to be there. Funny, some of the folks who respond say the Stag except it has a crappy comp! I hate to be biased but the Colt has nothing crappy on it!. Would be best to have both and compare. BTW, the colt has the Wylde chamber Oh yea...It's pretty too. So, you might have to get the Benelli to match it LOL
  4. Hey Toolguy I think thats the issue I'm having. The cup hole seems a little more squared off than the other brands. At the mouth anyway. I'll swage and see
  5. Tried something. I deprimed a few of the WIN cases and then used my RCBS hand priming tool. Seated perfect with a little below flush. I wonder if my 650 needs some type of adjustment for the win cases? everything works great with allthe other cases. I saw on here I think where someone stuck a shim under the punch support bracket? Good thing I already have a few thousand loaded. I changed over to 223 for now so it's not like I need to worry about it right now. It is making me a little crazy. Called Dillon and they said it only needs to be flush and I'm probably deforming the primer with the hand primer????
  6. Now being new to dillon and progressives, the super swage is the hand swaging right? Wasn't sure they had something that goes on the press. Retread, I may take you up on that. Let me research the swager thingie first I also have a butt load of wcc as well EDIT AGAIN...so if the WIN does not have a crimp, will swaging still help? I dont see a crimp, could they just be real tight? I have no probs buying the super swage but would hate to get it and find it does nothing for these cases with no crimps
  7. JUst got some once fired brass and started loading it up. I noticed that when seating the primers (Dillon 650XL) they were a bit tight. I could get them to seat flush but not below the rim? The Brass is once fired from cop shop. Headstamp says WIN 9mm Luger. Like a bone head I did not see if there was a crimp after deprived but did not notice one while they had the old primers. I heard the WWC are crimped but also heard the WIN are not. just got 3000 of them. Anyway to make those pockets a little looser EDIT: I just decaped a few and I dont see any sign of a crimp. I did measure the depth and compared to a speer (.119) The WIN was .116 hmmm They loaded OK but i'd like to get the primer below flush and I did have to slow down the speed I was loading at. Any suggestions? ideas on what this might be? Thanks
  8. I load tons of pistol ammo for the wife and I for 3 gun. I use the Dillon 650 to do this. Part of me wants to get another Dillon to load all my 223 stuff on. Lot easier than changing out heads etc. I don't shoot as much 223 as I do pistol. Do you think another 650 would be overkill for rifle/223 ? I'd love to get a 550 but not sure if I would feel this is a downgrade to the 650. I've been buying my 223 loaded until now. I'd like to also have a little more control over my 223 loading as well
  9. On the burn rate chart--3N37 is a fairly slow burning powder. Heavier bullets do better with faster burning powders. N320 is quite a bit faster than 3N37. Thats what I figured. I may save it for some 124 gr loads
  10. A buddy gave me a pound of this and said to try it with the 9mm. I checked the VV manual and loaded 4.5 gr of 3N37 and a 147 cmj MG. SHot real nice and soft and was pretty accurate. My question is I say most people using N320 for the 9mm. Is there any reason not to use 3N37 for 147 gr bullets? I seem to have found more data for the 124 gr bullets with this powder Any load suggestions etc would be great Joe
  11. I've had my 650 for about 4 days! I developed a load, went to the range, was thrilled with the load and the way it shot, promptly went home and loaded 100 rounds. The first 100 took me 9 minutes to load. I was in reloading heaven! Went to the range the next day and shot all 100 rounds. Came home and loaded another 100 rounds......this loading on a 650 is pretty cool right! Then proceeded to load another 500 rounds just because I enjoy the 650 so much. Oh what the hell, load the entire 1000 I have and call it good. Sorry for the story, here is my problem! "I NOW WANT ANOTHER DILLON PRESS TO LOAD MY 223 ON" And I'm eyeballing a 1050. Do they mix some type of dust in the shipping box's or something. You open the box, get a whif and already start thinking of ordering a second press. I have to say this is the best purchase I have made in my reloading history. I can see a 1050 loading all my 223 right?? Why mess with the tool head change Bad part of the whole thing..........................I'm out of brass and bullets to load! Good thing the Wife and I are going to the range today in a few hours....... The good thing.....my Wife has no filters when she shoots...."GIVE ME MORE BOOLITS" So, she will have zero issue with me getting another press
  12. Darn good question. NEver did it and will be my first try in November. It's a 3 gun club. Hey, I may have to get another pistol just to knock bowling pins off a table...OH DARN And knowing how competitive my Wife is, I can see a 45 in her future as well. They also do combat style shooting indoors during the winter months. Funny....I'll show up with a Mod 29 S&W.....LOL
  13. I'd love to try the Zero's but anyone on the planet have them
  14. Just loaded and shot a load of 147gr Rainier plated HP I loved the way they shot but would like to get away from plated bullets. I used these because they were available and I wanted to start my new to "pistol" reloading. I would much prefer to use jacketed bullets. My club shoots pins indoors during the winter (starting in November) I'm sure the 1000 Rainier plated I bought will be well gone by then. Any suggestions on a good replacement (jacketed) for the Rainier 147 plated HP ? I have no issues trying 124's as well. I have a sample (100) of some PD 124 JHP. I just want to have a nice light recoil and stick in the 130 ish PF range. I use titegroup right now but a friend is going to give me a pound of n320 to try out. My ultimate goal is to get a round put together so I can shoot 3 gun matches and be able to knock down steel. The 147's are the ticket I think but cant seem to find a 147gr Jacketed HP. I like the hollow points because I think it gives better accuracy....I could be way off base??? For those that ask whats wrong with a plated bullet..................I have no clue...nothing I guess. I just want to ue jacketed and I think the price increase is minimum. I also prefer Redheads to Blonds! LOL Thanks in advance Guys
  15. Pythonman I'm curious what lube you cleaned off the press? I pulled mine out of the box and within a few hours had about 500 rounds done. I didn't clean a thing ! I didn't see any excessive gunk on primer tubes or anything. I also agree about the bench. The 3/4" whatever that top is made of is not enough without a frame. I see you have a 2x4 stuck in there for support. That top needs to be very rigid! I have to imagine that thing does some rock n rollin when you use the press. Now if that top was made of a nice 2x2 frame then 3/4" you would be OK. Me, I would make the frame then use 1" for the top. Bullet Proof Strong.................yes, I'm a Cabinet builder BTW...I love the Albums! woohoooo
  16. Crank it 6 times and then fill the tube with brass. No primer depth stop like the RCBS. I think I'll get the RCBS with my next caliber? Did you or do you have the Pro2000? I'm glad I made the switch to Blue.
  17. I did the bearing upgrade and now I'm finding the loaded shells seem to want to get caught on the eject wire. I even tried it with one of the washers taken out...Still get hung up on the wire. So, I took it all off and it''s flying again. You guys bending that wire that ejects the shells? I'm loading 9mm
  18. Got the case feeder today....DROOOLLLLL Man, what I have been missing. OMG is this thing fast, and thats me taking my time. Good tips so far, cant thank you guys enough
  19. Bearings on the way from Mcmaster. Ordered it yesterday. I knocked out 100 rounds real quick last night. I have to say I love it so far. I have to re-read the manual because I'm not sure how many cranks of the handle it takes to get the primers in the seating station when starting on empty. I also don't remember seeing anything about adjusting primer depth? I also think I'm going back to my local guy and pick up the case feeder. HE told me to try it with the tube for a bit but man that baby empty quick. With the Pro 2000 I had to load both bullets and brass..I just sped up my time by half. Took it at an easy pace at first and just watched how everything was working. Powder drop is right on the money so the even tho it sounds clunky, it measures pretty good. It's that rod that makes me crazy..... I'll have to check for burrs when I have to tear it down. I can see the changing of calibers is not gonna be as fun as the other press
  20. Funny, I already had that happen. Looks like I'm going to get some dillon dies in the next day or so. For fun I used the same setup and used a jacketed bullet instead of plated.....No ring where the crimp was...hmmmmmm bullet puller is useful Thanks for the heads up on the dies Brian
  21. Well, got her set up. Wasn't too bad. I cut about 1 1/2 coils and it nice and smooth. The bearing kit will make it nicer I think. I will say I will miss the RCBS uniflow powder measure. You can get a case flaring tool to go into the uniflow and it will bell and charge a case. I tried the uniflow on the dillon and it works awesome. I have to return the Pro2000 this weekend but I may buy another uniflow just for the dillon. I have to say changing/dumping out the powder is a breeze. It's a bit more accurate too. I'm not crazy about the rod to the powder measure...It's kind of clanky. That's just me. I think I may have to get a separate crimp die. I have the RCBS 3 die set with the taper crimp built into the seater. I can't get that baby just right without putting a small ring around my bullet when crimped. They are plated so not sure that little ring will cause any accuracy issues? I think thats a thing with the RCBS dies? So far I'm in love
  22. The green one I bought has been giving me grief since I bought it 3 weeks ago. Loose this, broke that, etc etc etc. I bought it at cabbalas so it's going back this weekend. RCBS Pro200. Anyway, I'm picking up a 650XL today from out local shop. I will get it to start 9mm because that's what the Wife and I shoot the most of right now. I'll get whatever I need to go 223 later down the road, I'll use my rockchucker to knock out a few hundred of 223 when needed. Anyway, I digress I was going thru the tips section of the 650XL here and got a little worried I was going to have issues all over again. What would you say are the most important tips or tricks to do right away for a 650XL? I was thinking of the clip the spring under the shell plate one was pretty important. That pro2000 loved to have powder flip out of those little 9mm cases so I figured the 650 would be no different. Guys, I gotta say I hope I'm making the right move. I've reloaded rifle forever on a single stage and some on the pro2000 I can handle the progressive I just don't want to be tinkering more than reloading. I have the Dies (RCBS) Powder lockout die, I'm thinking the extra parts kit? My local shop has a huge selection of Dillon stuff on hand always!! What am I forgetting? I have a very very sturdy bench so I don't think I need the strong mount. I like to load sitting down unless you think it's a must for better performance, then I'll just get a taller seat . Heading back to the Tips thread to see if I missed anything important..........Oh yea, what was the bearing mod for? Thanks a Million guys EDIT: Also, I like to handprime everything. Is that an issue with the Dillon? I just take out the decap rod on the sizer. ANything else with the 650 I would have to do when using pre primed brass? Including the brass feeder bin? is it safe?
  23. I'm definitely going to look into this more. I will say it's the cleanest brass I have ever seen.
