  1. Based only on my own experience with other guns, and my gut feel, I ordered one of each of the following: 6 Action Spring 15 Ejector Spring 16 Ejector 24 Trigger Plate Pin 26 Feed Latch Pivot Pin 27 Feed Latch Spring A 28 Feed Latch Spring B 44 Extractor 45 Extractor Pivot Pin 46 Extractor Spring 47 Firing Pin 48 Firing Pin Retaining Pin 49 F. P. Retaining Pin O-Ring 54 Firing Pin Spring 67 Carrier 84 Feed Latch Assembly The bill was just over $100, and all these parts fit unobtrusively in my shooting kit. I already had spare Remington magazine followers (which look the same as for the 870/1100/11-87) and a Nordic magazine spring. At this time, I have no basis to expect any of these parts will fail any more quickly on the VM than any other gun, with the possible exception of the firing pin retainer which has a reputation for working loose (mine has been OK so far). The spare carrier is going to C-Rums to be welded up because the original carrier I modified myself looks pretty crappy (though it works OK). Where is the best place to find spare remi versa parts. I didn't see anything on midway or brownells.
  2. Ok, gander showed in stock last night so I pulled the trigger and have one comming to the local Houston store. A little more than I wanted to pay but that rule doesn't apply to guns does it?
  3. That one on 290 went Friday afternoon and I don't believe they had another one.
  4. Anyone have any sightings? Gave up on the JM930 and probably better off with the versa in the long run.
  5. What do you plan to do on the parkerizing? I've done my 870 and rubbed a little bluing pen on it but it still gets rusty.
  6. Just had to share the good news. Got notification from Seekins that my lower has shipped. Ordered 12-19. Now all that is needed to show up is the 3G upper and the donor Frankenmaster will get in line for SBR makeover status.
  7. Do we think Triangle will ever offer the versamax zombie? It's growing on me and I am ready to make a purchase.
  8. I need a set of solid irons on my 16" 308. Not looking for super LD but something better than magpul buis. I would like a fiber front post and am leaning towards the Troy DOA cause I like the diamond shape for reference. Any good ideas or set ups to recommend?
  9. I hope that goes for the 308 pmags I ordered from them before Christmas. Hard to compete with one mag that came with the gun.
  10. The transition is not even noticible, in fact I haven't even thought of it till you made mention of it. Shot it in its first 3G match yesterday and I was pleased with how it felt in the course. This was also a big transition for me moving from a 14.5" carbine bbl to a 20"rifle bbl. All in all I give the Seekins guard two tuumbs up. The shape provides for a very positive grip at least in my hands.
  11. That's the plan after a quick zero check at hot wells on fri. Cuttin it to the last minute as usual.
  12. So I have had all these grand plans of a high end 3gun build planned out and then the madness began. So I took my old bushy lower and BCG, Daniel deffense upper and bought me a Criterion 20" bbl, rifle length gas, adjustable block and Seekins 3G 15" hand guard. Found an old first gen Benny brake for cheap. Throw on the Burris MTAC and PEPER. JP spring kit, trigger polish job and per travel set screw of a crisp 4 lb single stage home grown. Gonna take her out to her first match this we and see how she does. Probably better that I will but building is sometimes more fun than the end product.
  13. Does anyone know what type of QD sling mount attaches to the holes in the Seekins 3G rail they make? I sent them an email but due to the run on them I'm not expecting any answer any time soon.
  14. Thanks fellas, went to midway. Forgot about them.
  15. Can't post a wtb on classifieds but does anyone know where I can find one? Looking for a new or like new rifle length gas tube. I've tried al the local shops and smiths I know and brownells didn't have one when I ordered my barrel. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. The bbl is a CMMG 18" stainless mid length. Buffer is carbine tube with the stubby buffer. Not sure about what powder freedom is using but they are just factory reloads not any built up match loads. I agree with run it if it works, I just wasn't sure how risky running the gas block with only a 3/4 turn backed off from bottom. I might bump it back another half turn as I have some concern that carbon buildup could be an issue with the screw at its smallest setting.
  17. I just got done setting up a syrac block clamp style on my 308 along with a rolling thunder comp. the bbl is 16" with a mid length gas system. While I was at the range today taking it for a test spin I realized I had to run the screw all the way in before I affected bolt lock back, I then backed it out a half turn and spent the rest of the day trying to get on paper at 100. Running freedom munitions 150gr with no problems since I got this rifle before Christmas. My iron sight adjustment woes aside, I question the fact that I am running the block with only half a turn of adjustment backed out from bottom. Would this be somewhat normal for a short length gas system on a 308 platform? I gotta say there was a reduction in recoil but not as much as I was expecting with the new hill comp and syrac gas block, but I guess this is just my introduction to the world of 308 from being used to the soft 223.
  18. That don't look like any ammo shelf I have seen in the last month
  19. Anyone had any issues with the precision reflex adj gas block? I hear a lot about syrac but have only been able to get my hands on the precision reflex adj block for now.
  20. Like I said, the primary point of this shoot is to raise charity funds for the local Houston API chapter. The COF is pretty simple due to the skill level of most participants. I would wager that less than 10% of the shooters in this match are experienced 3gunners although the vast majority do participate in firearms activities. It is a great way to get introduced to the sport at this match and a good opportunity for some oilfield customer relationship building.
  21. Some decent gun give always, at least one per team and no big winning prizes but good oilfield charity fundraiser. http://www.api-houston.org/events.html This shoot brings a lot of new folks into the sport or at least it did for me.
