  1. I think it was actually 86 but I didn't want to rub it in , LOL
  2. This was Sat 12/07/13 in sunny 85 degree FL - Steel Challenge Match --- my best Martin Rigg's impression from Lethal Weapon Steel ChallengeFlorida Snowman by targheeee, on Flickr
  3. the plastic grip panels are significantly lighter than the rubber ones also - I've never weighed them but the rubber ones feel pretty heavy. Also, I believe the finish is hard chrome, so if you drill through ( but you might have a hard time like Nealio said ) - you better touch up with cold blue or something
  4. this is with a cheapie NcStar 1x30 red dot on a SIG522 - I think I paid $25 for it -- it's bright enough on power 7 even in direct sunlight BTW this was SAT 12/07/13 85 degrees in Sunny FL
  5. Well said moto -- I first started with DA/SA then went to striker-fired to try and get the same trigger every time - but I just couldn't take having to take every shot with a crappy plastic gun. I guess I'm spoiled because it's SAO for me now except for the Kahr trigger on my P9 Covert carry weapon. It seems like Production is the new Open Class and everybody is hopping on the wagon -- I guess other than the first DA shot, a lot of these SA are pretty damn close to a nice 1911 trigger.
  6. Thanks Nealio -- FYI - found my answer under EAA - What's New --- I guess P-S stand for Poly Special which is indeed a small frame poly gun 1) NOTICE TO DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS AND CONSUMERS If you have sold or own any of our Poly Special New Frame pistols with the SKU # 999048 OR 999044 this notice pertains to you. These models are what we call our small frame pistols. They can be converted to 9MM, 40S&W OR 22LR, unlike our large frame which can be converted to all major calibers. When ordering parts, magazines or conversion kits you will need to supply us with the serial number to your firearm in order for us to pull the proper parts for your pistol’s model. None of our parts are drop-in. The parts and conversion kits should be fitted by a competent gunsmith. MAGAZINE SKU# 9MM SKU# 101900 16rd 40S&W SKU# 101400 12rd Thank You, E.A.A. Corp
  7. just search GB -- I don't believe we are allowed to link ads. FYI , if you keep an eye out on GB I believe that same seller has sold 50 or so conversion kits under a different name -- all kinds 9mm , 40, 10mm , 45acp --- I purchased a couple of different conversion units from a seller in Longwood FL , no problems and actually better than described
  8. I know we aren't suppose to do links for auction sites but if anyone is looking for Witness Elite Stock II .45ACP Conversion kit + Mag or this Witness Elite Gold Team .45 conversion kit+ 2 magsjust cut and paste and search GB
  9. WTH??? Crazy , so my question then is, would a conversion kit that is suppose to work on a large steel frame or large frame poly work on the P-S ( small large frame ) - is only the mag size different or are the frame rails different also?
  10. What do all these mean? Just trying to figure out the difference in the models -- one place said the P was the Full Size Polymer , another said PS was Full Size Polymer - pretty sure PC is Polymer Compact but are P and PS the same?
  11. When I first started shooting competition pistol , I had one gun a Sig and I was pretty fast and accurate with it. What I didn't like was the da/sa - so off started my quest for the perfect gun. I tried almost every platform ( except Glock - don't like them , never have ) - M&P's, XDM's , Para's , 1911's. I found I really enjoyed the 1911 - it fit my hand well and I was very accurate with it, I could shoot it SS and CDP. At one point , I had over a dozen pistols - did my performance suffer - absolutely. I was way better when I only had one gun. The subtle differences in grip angles, front strap width, grip size , safeties, etc -- really threw off my game. If you check out the EAA/Tanfo thread -- what I settled on was one platform I could use in IDPA, USPSA and Steel - I have 2 frames and a bunch of uppers in all the calibers -- now I can shoot the same platform for everything. So , it's just something to consider -- but I did enjoy trying out all the guns.
  12. so it's agreed -- let's turn this back into a GAME !!!!!!! everybody write in LOL!
  13. I know - even the EAA website is like a blind grab bag -- there are no pictures for many of the parts and conversion kits and for a long time the weights were WAYYY off - I'm not sure if they fixed that yet --- the problem with Tanfo's " affordable " Match Elite line is it's too heavy for IDPA ESP - I know lot's of guys contemplating milling off the rail -- but I warned them I'm pretty sure it's hard chromed and unless you want to refinish it you may have a weird looking gun!
  14. I agree , we shoot IDPA for fun -- and some of these new stupid rules are sucking the fun away. What's the " real world " scenario -- most shoot outs occur at what 3 - 5 yds? So what's IDPA gonna do set all COF stages at 3-5 yds -- TOTALLY NOT FUN !!!!!!!!!! I love shooting on the move , being able to practice my reloads when I'm moving and any other skills that tests my abilities to shoot fast and accurately under different scenario's. Let's not turn this into a standing Bulls-eye match
  15. Is the Witness Elite Limited just a model for EAA to import into the US? The Tanfoglio.it website shows their Limited with a standard barrel , short dustcover and no magwell. Their Limited Custom is more like EAA's Elite Limited but slide cuts , alum grips , and not hard chromed. 16. I saw that Eric shoots like that with his grip - and when I first started shooting competitively that's how I shot. But 99% or more of the shooters will tell you that it's best to wrap as much of your weak hand around your strong hand and get as much of the palm of your weak hand on the grip - in one of Shannon Smith's vid's he breaks down the grip pretty well , actually using the fingers from your strong hand as kind of a "wall" or leverage point.
  17. Oh - and for IDPA -- just cut out a 5" or 6" white circle for your down 0 and practice your tactical reloads and strong hand only and weak hand only dry fire practice. And of course practice drawing with your concealment garment
  18. I think once you have the basics down - grip , trigger control , sight picture --- I think the most time is made up or lost in target acquisition and transitions -- getting on target , next target , next target, transition --- I put multiple targets up all over the room and practice movement and target acquisition. I also cut a white piece of paper smaller than the A zone for dry fire and live fire when I can - then when I do shoot for real the A zone seems much bigger LOL. And what everyone else says - practice your draws with a Shot Timer app with buzzer set for random and practice your reloads high and right in front of your face
  19. Yep - Hawktech +1 --- got my Tanfo 22lr Upper conversion kit from him
  20. Ammo has been in better supply - but walmart has jacked up the prices quite a bit from what I remember before the "horde". Recently, I was able to find some 250rd Remington Mega packs but the 9mm are about $68 ( .27/rd) and 40S&W is about $90 ( .36/rd ) I can't remember what 45ACP was -- I personally like the Federal 100rd Value packs -- but those have been pretty hard to find. This was at my local walmart today PPU 9mm $14.50/50rd -- my buddy bought a couple of boxes and all of them went BANG! The 2nd pic was at a walmart down in Naples a couple of weeks ago - if you look real close they had 150rd boxes of 223 for $69.97 ( .46/rd ) WOW! Untitled by targheeee, on Flickr Untitled by targheeee, on Flickr
  21. I'm thinking no -- you might be able to swap a 9mm slide but I think you may have problems with mags/feed ramp/feed angle. You need to check the Tanfoglio's out -- Here are my Tanfoglio Elite Limited and Match frames with 45ACP / 40S&W / 9MM / 22LR conversions , all the mags have same dimension except for feed lip -- it's a 10 second conversion to change calibers Tanfoglio by targheeee, on Flickr Tanfoglio by targheeee, on Flickr
  22. Has anyone used the wal-mart ammo app? The one that tells you "in stock" or the force check -- is it accurate , does it work?
  23. Ice - that SIG X5 is SWEET! But I'm guessing the majority maybe even 98% of the CCW does not or will not carry a Full size 36oz - 48oz gun. I'm in FL - shorts and shirts almost all year -- It's hard to carry anything larger than a pea shooter and a real man wouldn't be caught dead with a murse ( man purse )! But we are drifting off topic - so I say again I DO NOT LIKE THE FLAT FOOTED RELOAD RULE OR THE NO SHOOTING ON THE MOVE RULE
  24. Yep - IDPA is a "game" - it's a game with a timer and score sheet based on speed and hits. not a self defense course. That's why given the choice of shooting a stage with a 3.8" , 4.5" or 5.25" gun -- 99% would choose the 5.25" -- why because you wanna kick Joe Schmoo's ass - that's why! The problem is some of these rule changes that they " supposedly " consulted with the Navy Seal's for real world strategies - are just plain dumb IMO Real world - who cares if you drop a loaded mag on the ground , I also think they are penalizing the accomplished shooters who can reload on the move ( you know the crossovers from that other shooting sport ). It seems to me , IDPA is catering to a crowd that is less athletically inclined or mobility challenged. I enjoy all the action shooting disciplines USPSA , IDPA , Steel. It's just that I'm enjoying IDPA less and less - and I don't think it's just me from all the flak about the flat footed reload. Also on a side note - the Tomasie Custom does look SWEET! I was lucky enough to shoot on the Super Squad with Travis, Max and the gang for one of the big matches. Max had his SIG 1911 MAX - but I have yet to see one in person except the one he had in his hand. I hate it when the manufacturer's tempt us with future models that only exist on the internet -- I'm still waiting on SIG's 1911 Traditional Match Elite in .40S&W and 9MM
