  1. That is BADASS !!!!!!! - what slide is in the top pic - is it blued or ion and then polished flats?
  2. That is a damn good price for a Limited - pretty close to wholesale --- it's the mags , base pads , springs , holsters and everything else that KILLS you LOL!
  3. praetorian97 - are those the stock Limited grips or did you stain them darker? Also where did you get your *thumb rest [generic]*?
  4. I understand that IDPA was created as a shooting sport based on self defense scenario's - trying to get away from that other sport viewed by many as " running with a race gun " - I get they consulted the the Navy Seal's for updated strategies -- but I'm pretty sure the Navy Seal's load more than 10 rounds in their mags and carry more than 2 mags - I'm pretty sure they are not arguing the PIVOT point when they are clearing a room. IDPA has gotten so caught up with all these rules , that a lot of shooters are almost done with it. I get there needs to be rules but it looks like this one sucks - for the shooters and the SO's who have to look out for it. Does this come to mind for anybody else?
  5. here's an older thread with holster that might work http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=182472
  6. IDPA is a game and according to their principles a shooting game based on self defense strategies using " practical " equipment. I myself do not like the new flat footed reload rule but it's there - so we have to learn to live with it or take the PE. What I find amusing is that all the gamers are using XDM 5.25's , G34's , M&P 5" Pro's, 5" 1911's -- when is the last time you saw someone carrying one of these as their carry weapon? I will never carry my 5" 43oz 1911 - I'm lucky if I strap on my Kahr P9 Covert at 14oz. I admit it - I'm a gamer, I use anything that I think will give me an advantage because at the end of it all everyone is checking their scores to see how they did against everybody else - it's in our nature to be competitive. Maybe what IDPA needs is a " gamer " or open division with a different set of rules - just throwin it out there!
  7. I'm pretty sure you can still shoot on the move too - here's all that I found 3.6. When cover is available, it must be used when shooting, unless the shooter starts in the open and must engage targets while on the way to cover. Shooters may not cross any opening (doorways, windows, open spaces, etc.) without first engaging targets as required by the stage description. 3.6.1. If the shooter fires a shot out of cover, prior to being given a cover warning, then the following applies: 3.6.1.1. A PE is assessed 3.6.1.2. The SO should Not call "Cover" after the shot has been fired. 3.6.1.3. Rationale: The shooter has already earned the PE since the shooter broke the shot before the SO could provide the courtesy cover warning. Once the PE has been earned, if the SO subsequently calls cover, then the shooter is in effect being penalized twice, once for shooting out of cover, and then by Comment [G14]: Stage description may specify from which positions of cover a target must be engaged due to limited equipment. E.G. walls, barrels etc. Comment [TT15]: Rationa le: the shooter has already earned the PE since the shooter broke the shot before the SO could provide the courtesy cover warning. Once the PE has been earned, if the SO subsequently calls cover, then the shooter is in effect being penalized twice, once for shooting out of cover, and then by taking the time to move back into cover. However, an inadvertent or delayed cover warning by the SO, subsequent to the shot firing, does NOT invalidate the PE assessment. taking the time to move back into cover. However, an inadvertent or delayed cover warning by the SO, subsequent to the shot firing, does NOT invalidate the PE assessment nor does it necessitate a re-shoot.
  8. is shooting on the move now not allowed?
  9. the internet is full of goodies ! http://www.handgunsmag.com/2010/09/24/tactics_training_combatg_100306/
  10. Are the xtreme's even available here in the state's? I've never seen one
  11. I told him his ELITE LIMITED MATCH looks familiar - then it came to me -- apologies in advance for the non-Tanfoglio gun in this thread - but it IS a BADA$$$$$$$ SIG --- LOL Untitled by targheeee, on Flickr he's got a $600 version of a $3K gun
  12. Thanks to some parts from CHA-LEE - this is my buddy's ELITE LIMITED MATCH Untitled by targheeee, on Flickr and here is a 45ACP Stainless slide perched on my ELITE MATCH Untitled by targheeee, on Flickr Untitled by targheeee, on Flickr
  13. CHA-LEE selling some take-offs - I think he still has a couple of pairs left. I bought a set to mess with - I plan on sanding them down , relieving finger impressions , mag release relief , grip taping - and what ever else to try and get the ultimate grip.
  14. When I first started shooting competitively , same thing - low left. For me it was probably a combination of adrenalin rush ( all the fundamentals going out the window at the buzzer ) , striker fired trigger , grip technique --- I was so VERY TEMPTED to move my sights but I did not. Thousands of rounds later , my shots now go where I aim - but I did ditch my M&P Pro for some Tanfoglio's. Also IMO - the accuracy of the M&P Pro's sucked and mine had one of the sweetest trigger jobs from the Performance center
  15. Also - from what I was told from S&W - the M&P Pro 9's are sighted in using 125gr at the factory - that still shot 2-3" low for me at 10-15yds. I also hated that big huge glob of a mess front fiber optic - I replaced it with something much smaller
  16. I shot an M&P Pro 5" 9mm in SSP / IDPA and Production / USPSA --- I found from the factory they shot low using 115gr , a little better but still low with 125gr and right on @ 10-15yds with 147gr. I know from the factory u don't have an elevation adj -- first make sure your sights are exactly centered - mine were not from the factory. You are probably jerking the trigger, too much finger in the trigger and/or pushing the frame - maybe a combination of the three. How much of your finger is on the trigger , most competitive shooters will tell you - use just the pad of your finger not past the first joint. Also, you might try the med or large palm swell , helps you put less finger in the trigger. Another exercise is to put your palm on a table or flat surface and practice pulling your trigger finger straight back without moving the rest of your hand - do it whenever you can - good muscle memory exercise.
  17. Well I guess the Tanfo secret is safe with us! The only 2 shooters who I let shoot my Tanfo's each ended up getting one. I went through probably a dozen platforms when I first started shooting competitively and I bought a Match Elite on a whim without ever having handled or shot one. Now 5 uppers and 2 frames later , it's my go to favorite , that and my trusty 1911.
  18. Maybe I'm biased and everyone that shoots these here, knows the quality of these but why the redheaded step child treatment? Even among competitive shooters - hardly anybody knows these. At my club matches, 40-50 shooters - I'm the only Tanfo guy. Granted the EAA ads in print look like they are from the 90's and a 3rd grader made them and I've heard the stories of the " great " customer service , luckily I've never had to call for parts or service. How can it be, that this small band of Tanfo brothers-in arms on BrianEnos.com are the only one's in the country to know about these guns?
  19. I started shooting both IDPA and USPSA simultaneously. SSP / Production , then CDP / SS , ESP / L10 , then Limited - for USPSA - it was a pretty easy transition going from 10 rds in Production down to 8 rds in SS. As for 45acp vs 9mm in IDPA , it's just a little bit harder game but not that much harder since max rd count is 18. I enjoy SS in USPSA but really need to eat more Twinkies to put more mags on my belt LOL! As for DA first shot , you gotta be safe but the basic gist was to shoot as you are fully extending your arm , making that 1st shot as you reach close to full extension - kinda tricks your brain for that heavy DA pull vs all your other SA shots. Most guys that started shooting with , went to striker fired - just so all the trigger pull was the same everytime.
  20. When I first started shooting production with a SA/DA, one hint that helped alot was to prep the trigger as you are pushing the gun out on target and squeezing the trigger as you get close to fully extending your arms. Needless to say, no matter what I did I still hated that first DA shot especially if it was a distant target. Then I went onto striker fired guns - M&P Pro and XDM's - no more heavy DA first shot - but a mushy trigger compared to 1911's or my Tanfo's. If you have never shot SA , esp a nice 1911 trigger let's just say you will become spoiled and never want to shoot anything else.
  21. Like what everyone else says , it comes with time and practice. Most double taps more than 3-5 yds out are two controlled pairs - 2nd shot right when your front sight is back on target. Usually the more recoil, the longer the splits for your 2nd shot. With everything being equal, my splits are longest for 45acp , then 40s&w , then 9mm and then ( 0.13 sec ) for 22lr. Grip plays a factor also , 60-70% of your grip should be your weak hand with as much of your weak hand on the grips as possible.
  22. Just wondering can you swap out a 9mm barrel and mags and shoot in 40S&W upper? The OD looks the same
  23. wow , you carry a 10mm- the supersize 40 --- the FBI couldn't handle the load LOL! One of the things that suck about these Tanfo's is it seems we gotta find what fits and figure out what works ourselves.
