I use my strong hand so that I can run the side saddle (assuming you loaded it brass down) as well. Also has the advantage of holding the gun further out so less strain on the arm/wrist. Just a humble action shotgun shooter, Chris

900.00? I think I'll stick to a used 1100 for around $200.00 and just eat the .02 sec to .03 sec I'll lose on the splits. Hmmm, lets see. $900.00( new super X2) - 500.00 (my built 1100) = $400.00. Divide this by .02 = $12000.00/min saved! I may be wrong but you can't make that much money in three gun so it must be a huge desire to win! Open shooters, Here is the deal. I have been offered a second top end for my SVI in 9x23. My question is this... If I buy this set-up( top end, 2 mags, and some brass for 500.00) and add a docter sight and a Schuemann Hybrid barrel would I have a halfway decent Open gun for $1200 to $1500? Or do I pass and take the money plus $1000 to $1500 more and buy a dedicated Open gun? Just thinking. Thanks guys. Cheers, Chris Thanks

O.K, all I''m sure that I'm beating a dead horse but... I just saw Beretta's new 92/96 vertec (with acc. rail) I've looked at Springfields' Mil Spec Operator and TRP Operator( with acc. rail) I've owned many new style framed glocks (with acc. rail) and I've got to know... Are these guns sporting "long or heavy dustcovers"? If so are they illegal for IDPA? I know the glocks are legal! So that being the case, why can't I shoot my SVI with an extended dust cover? Opps, I mean acc. rail! Jeez, I'll get the frame cut for a light and put a bushing barrel in and everything!!! Sorry, had to vent. But seroiusly, does anyone think I have a prayer if I was to petition to IDPA's powers that be? Thanks for the info and listening to my ranting! Chris

Big Dave, I always try to do things on the cheap but I think I would go for a DPMS Lo Pro (655.00) add the JP trigger group, and a set of Redfield Olympic or Palma sights( used, about 125.00). Nice and cheap and should shoot great. The only hitch is fitting the front site. Just my .02. Cheers, Chris

Hey guys, I have a SVI gun with a full length dust cover. Since this is illegal( Glocks have full length dust covers, but NO!) what is the minimum amount that I can cut off to be IDPA legal? Thanks for any info in advance. Cheers, Chris

Dave a .243 is a is a .308 Win necked down to 6mm. Just hit it with a chamber reamer (well may not be that simple) and viola! Any of the .308 based wild cats are available. I really like the 7mm-08 but the 6.5mm-08 sparks my interst for long range work. Hope this helps, Chris

Ron, Do you get Front Sight? There is a article on 5 shotguns based on the speed of split times. The author says the Winchester Super X2 Practical is THE shit. As for under a grand- they are selling for 775.00 thru one dealer and already have the good sights (fiber optic front),the "speed spoon", 8+1 tube extension, and a picatinny rail. Well, it turns out that the Beretta and the Benelli are totally different. I called Ballistic Specialties and they are happy to work on Benelli triggers for the low, low(?) price of $100.00. When I commented on how the trigger had been designed by a lawyer thier responce was "or an idiot" so there you are. The number is 1-800-276-2550 and the web page is http://www.angleport.com. Ron, I'm probably talking of things I don't understand but if Beretta owns Benelli (or vise versa) here is the route I would try. Since Beretta is HUGE in the skeet, trap, sporting clays diciplines I'd think MAYBE you could get a good trigger group for a AL390( or variant) fairly easily and it might swap. I'd would holler at Ballistic Specialties in Arkansas or Seminole Gun Works in Florida for starters. Good luck and if I hear more I'll let you know. Cheers, Chris

Gosh, And I thought it was law that you taped for the guy who shoots after you! The only time I won't tape is when I'm on deck and there is enough folks about to handle it. Some people did learn from Dilion, I think. As far as semi-custom guns go it's either Wilson Combat(carry) or SVI (competition). I have no experience with Sandy but I called Wilson's with broken recoil spring plug and they say you're not in the computer, did you fill out the warranty card?No, I bought it used. Oh, they say, It'll go out today. Need a card number, I ask? Nope, they say, It's taken care of. One day later, via priority mail, I have two replacements of the offending part in my hand. Actually, the stock Savage markets for across the course work (Hi Power) ain't bad but I don't think they sold enough rifles to ever come across a loose one. Time to call McMillen I guess. Dave, If you want to do it on the cheap copy my rifle! Savage Tactical in .308 ($350.00)I had the muzzle recrowned ($15.00), added the stock off a Savage 112 BVSS( this stock has a flatter fore end) and had it pillar bedded( 200.00 for both), and got a trigger job( FREE, thank you Mr. Gunsmith). Slap on a TASCO World Class plus 36x scope( 150.00 w/rings and bases) and BAM! 715.00 out the door with a best group of .305" Center To Center @ 100 yards. Flex, Thanks for the link. My new basic routine involves upper body strength stuff with the addition of just holding a 10lb barbell out in front of me a la gripping a pistol. Up to three minutes both hands and the old Wilson just gets lighter every day!! Cheers, Chris

As the weapon comes to the target the motion slows, the blurring of the scope view is no longer an issue. I shoot IDPA for the trigger time. It has it's faults but it's the ONLY game in town. Of course I will drive 250+ miles to shoot at Bill Wilson's range. I guess I hope being around the greats will teach me something. Chris P.S. I just joined the USPSA so ask me again in a month.

Depending on how far you want to travel I would check with Wilson Combat. They just sponsored a 3 gun course that was done by Mark Lonsdale.One of the cheaper courses I've seen too. Cheers, Chris
