  1. Michael, I also will be running 6mm creedmoor. Here's the bolt-action choices I'm going with: stiller spectre action, fixed 10x scope, US optics, mil turrets & reticle bobro mount xlr chassis atlas bipod timney trigger 26" barrel (no brake) ( have not found a 1 in 7" .243 barrel manufacture yet though) you should need about 500 shells to have 400 in the middle of the bell curve spread of case-weight. also be sure to load to less than 3200 velocity. the outliers you can use for barrel coppering, scope leveling, turret tracking, etc.
  2. I was looking for a while at different manufactures websites( douglas, bartlein, krieger, shilen, etc) and retail sites (midway, brownells) to find 1 manufacture that makes all of the following heavy/varmint 26" barrels with the following twist rates for the following cartridges: 115 grain 6mm creedmoor: 1 in 7" 150 grain 308 winchester: 1 in 12" 230 grain 300 norma magnum: 1 in 10" 250 grain 338 lapua magnum: 1 in 12" if one does not make all 4 options, I would prefer to have 1 supplier for my short actions and 1 supplier for my lapua actions. In summary, what are pros/cons to have your action sent off to barrel makers for chambering/threading/attachment or order blanks and have a local smith do those tasks? *Bartlein says they have a 6 month delay on their site*
  3. it's 800 grainsTAC-LR BT is actually 750 grains.http://www.barnesbullets.com/products/components/mle-tactical-bullets/mle-tac-lr-bullets/ ac-LR' I bought them myself. They're not the TAC-LR's. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/166706/barnes-banded-solid-bore-rider-bullets-50-bmg-510-diameter-800-grain-spitzer-boat-tail-box-of-20
  4. What type of action among remington clones, savage, sako trg 42, and barrett mrad have the easiest to replace barrels? Can any barrel blank be fitted to all mentioned actions? What is the general charge of a gunsmith to have a blank chamber-reamed and placed on an action? Does bedding of an action affect barrel cost? I'm trying to figure out what steps are necessary to shoot 300 norma magnum as opposed to 338 lapua magnum. Both cartridged use the same bolt face.
  5. I wish. Is the 20mm still availabe somewhere? I saw 3 rnds of 20mm on gb for $150 but they were live.
  6. oops #3 on last post is pic #4 so... pic #3: I'll say that's a 410 on the right
  7. pic #1: 22 short, 22lr, 5.7, 223, 243, 25 acp, 257 robers, 270 winchester, 308 win, pic #2: blah, blah, blah, 22 magnum, 22 hornet, a;slkdjf;alsjkdf;lafskjd;asdjkf, 7.62x54r, 30-06 pic #3: 380, ?, 38, 357, ? 30-30, 38 special, 357, 30-06, 45-70, 12 gauge
  8. no. I figure it has no value to me for target shooting or hunting if I'm going to use 308 and 7mm rem mag eventually. I imagine by the time I can legally get a pkm or pkp I would also be able to get a 249 or 240 instead anyway.
  9. 22 marlin,9 glock,45 glock, 308 ptr91. also have 12 gauge benelli
  10. and I'd like to be able to shoot them all someday. just need to decide what order to do it in. suggestions welcome!
  11. can ruger 77/22 in 22 wmr be chamber reamed to run 5.7x28? they fire same bullets. 5.7 has a longer and larger diameter case. just wondering. cheers.
  12. Thanks for your help guys. I'll be going with these and hopefully have a universal rifle-light-mounting option I can share. http://www.amazon.com/MSR-Twisting-Pliers-SAFETY-PLIER/dp/B000WJIJ66/ref=lh_ni_t_mi?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3TGC5XRRCX4P2
  13. Anyone know what metal wire this is on the end of the barrel? I want to use that stuff to tie a piece of rail for attaching a light to my rifle barrel or reinforcing the RS products BM-1 . Thank you
  14. Wondering if a burnt 22-250 barrel can be bored out to .243 until burnt again, then bored out to .308? Same question for 7mmRM to 300WM to 338LM.
  15. Is there such thing as fireforming brass in the revolver world? On the flip side of that, is there a big downside to competing with steel/aluminum cased revolver ammo?
  16. I figure the most logical purchasing order would be: action, bullet, case, primer, powder, barrel, trigger, chassis, glass. All of which are hard to find at the moment so I have plenty of time to plan out the most competitive build.
  17. I'm still in the planning phase and it's going to be a frankengun. I hope I can get a pair of actions for a 243 and a 308 build. I'll be starting with the 308 because of the longer barrel life and I figure it will be a good "New York City" standard(if you can make it there{1000 yards with a 30 cal}, you can make it anywhere{with a 243}). The .743 BC of the Berger 230 HPBT seems quite appealing and I'd like to run that if the increased exposure to cross wind doesn't cancel out the advantage of the high BC. The sole purpose of the cartridges and rifles will be target shooting.
  18. At what point does increased time of flight(due to lower velocity) cancel out the advantage of a higher ballistic coefficient? I'd like to run a super heavy .308 bthp out of a bolt gun with a 22" barrel for target shooting.
  19. I own both and like the lancers better because they don't have any extra plastic clip to lose.
