  1. Trying to brainstorm some kind of wildcat the compete with 4.6x30, 5.7x28, 6.8spc, 300black, etc. in the "PDW/SBR" niche of cartridges. Would like to run 150 grain 284 bullets out of a 5.56 case trimmed down & cold-formed to have COAL to function in STANAG magazines & AR. I'm hypothesizing: a 10.5" barrel, carbine length gas port (like the MK18) but a slower bullet velocity (1800ish) ,dwell time may be sufficient for a smaller-than-MK18 gas port diameter ? Great bonuses if possible: if pressure at the muzzle got down to 9mm +p muzzle pressures so pistol suppressor could be used if the bullet diameter is sufficient to prevent cartridge from chambering in .223-rifle since .284 is bigger than .223 case neck diameter? if the if 223-shoulder is forward/wide enough to not end up being chambered in .284 wildcat chamber if standard carbine buffer could be used if barrel twist could be for 150 grain .284 SMK's to yaw/tumble on impact and shorter bullets like 150 grain fmj's to not-yaw on armor or 150 grain soft-points to not-yaw on game animals. probably call it 7x38 for now comment & make inquiries all you like, I'm bored this evening.
  2. How much of each cartridge comes on a pallet of ammunition?
  3. Has anyone heard of or done this themselves? Running subsonic ammo seal off the muzzle end of a suppressor with a balloon or condom fill can & barrel with non-oxygen gas like nitrogen, helium, xenon etc chamber a round to prevent gas from escaping through breech will this prevent 1st round pop? will this reduce decibel signature? related: does a balloon or condom & chambered round prevent water from entering barrel & suppressor if gun is submerged?
  4. Anyone know if a US maker makes fortner actions. They are the kind that are used in Biathlon. Thank you.
  5. maybe if you are using bullets that are heavy-for-caliber and a barrel 28" or longer.
  6. apparently, the 26 Nosler uses powders meant for 50 bmg.
  7. Has anyone loaded large-rifle-magnum-primer ignited cartridges with powder meant for the 50 bmg?
  8. most difficult shot I ever made was a first-round hit 1-handed(strong) out of a car window at a 20 oz. water bottle around 100 yards away. stock glock 34 115 grain american eagle.
  9. First, I rescued all the liquid that was trapped inside. It's rated for 6mm airsoft bb's.
  10. 308 bullets sold at midway arranged by "popularity" *I use 150's

  12. Anyone aware of a 338 Lapua base-size cartridge that has been made as long as a Cheytac case and necked up to 375? I'm thinking it would: 1.be a good ballistic mini-me to the 50 BMG running a 700 grain bullet at bc~.80 or so. 2.be more efficient than the 375 Cheytac in regards to barrel-life & powder-consumption for kinetic energy. 3.function better out of a browning m2 style or General Dynamics LWMMG style gun than the 338 norma mag. 4.have better brass flow & reload-ability than the 375 Allen express. I like the relationship the mk262 223 Rem. round has to the cold-war era m80 308 Win. round. Attributes that result in less cost to shoot, train with & practice: *equal bc *equal muzzle velocity *half the bullet-weight *half the powder *the same kind of powder (ie varget, IMR 4166, etc) *less muzzle blast *smaller primer. *suppressors that are dual-use for 308 win & 223 rem *gun "platforms" (AR, DT MDR, etc) that have same interface for both 308 win & 223 rem I would like to find or wildcat a cartridge that has the same relationship the mk262 has to the m80 cartridge but in regard to the 50 bmg running 700 grain solid/fmj/raufoss(with COAL sized to run in an m107). I would also think the cartridge would function in a scaled down browning m2, barret m107, or cheytac-size bolt-actions(with smaller bolt-face), or scaled-up General Dynamics LWMMG. I'm thinking a .375 bullet made lock-base fmj style (for hard-targets) and an Accubond LR style( for hunting) can both be made to have the same bc & weight as the .375 350 grain SMK. All 3 bullet types would have a lower minimum-velocity than the .375 350 grain solids in case a user wants to run the cartridge out of a barrel shorter than 29". I'm thinking other shooters would appreciate a Mini-Me to the 50 bmg also. The closest thing I have found is the 375 allen express. I suspect the 375 Allen Express has insufficient body-taper & excessive shoulder angle to function in a select-fire gun. I look forward to conversing with whoever wants to respond here.

  14. you might also want a recoil spring with less pressure if you are switching from lightweight 357 rounds to heavy 40sw rounds. just a barrel is all you really "need" though. You can also switch down to 9mm with your 31 if you also get the magazines in addition to barrel & spring.
  15. I was pondering: if we neck-up the 4.6 to 5mm or neck-down the 5.7 to 5mm, would either of those wildcats work in both weapons? if there were a non-proprietary round that worked in both the p90 and mp7, would there be more designs coming out to compete with those 2 in the pdw niche?
  16. Why aren't there open-tip/hollow-point 50 bmg bullets on the market for FCSA type shooting?
  17. It's not a troll post. I didn't know gunpowder had oxygen as an element in the granules. I was just wondering if pure oxygen (or some other gas atom) between the granules would improve cartridge efficiency (ie- velocity/powder load).
  18. Has anyone tried handloading inside an oxygen filled inert gas glove workstation? I'm wondering if space between the powder granules being 100% oxygen would improve muzzle velocity for the maximum chamber pressure of a given cartridge. cheers,
  19. I think you're right. wonder how it ended up in the hands of an IS person and in such nice condition.
  20. If you just hammer the brass enough times, the bullets will work there way out.
