  1. Just to pitch in... My shadow does not allow safety with hammer down. If you look at the sear cage and how the safety locks it up, I'd say something is wrong if it allows the safety to roll all the way engaged with the hammer down. Hopefully it doesn't malfunction in a worse manner in the future...
  2. Yes I made sure to lube. The gun was very well lubed before cleaning. Maybe it's just not as fully worked in yet?? I wouldn't figure that would make a big difference. It sure feels heavier but I don't have a gauge to be positive.
  3. Thanks! That about narrows it down, now I know what I have at least. Is the 13 lb as light as I should go if I use factory ammo exclusively?
  4. I've searched a few times, can't seem to get the results I'm looking for. I just stripped my SP01 Shadow down for a good cleaning, first time for more than the basic field strip. It's been about 5,000 rounds since I got it and honestly I was starting to feel bad it was so dirty! Runs like a champ though, zero malfunctions of any kind and it shoots way better than I can. I took everything off except for the trigger pin and all that it holds in. I've read I will most likely need a replacement after taking it out and I don't have one handy so I stopped at that point. Pistol went back together nicely, it was actually a bit easier than I was expecting. Only thing is that I swear the DA pull is a bit heavier now. SA feels identical and super crisp like before. Reset is unchanged, it's always had a very positive feel to the reset. The overall travel is very smooth and consistent, nothing feels wrong, other than a little heavier on the DA. I'm wondering if there is a noob mistake I could have made that would change the DA pull?
  5. That's where I'm heading next. Just thought I'd ask first to see if it was common knowledge as far as what spring it is. I'm thinking it is the same as what's in the gun, why send a spare that's different right??
  6. I purchased an SP01 Shadow #91154 from CzCustom about a year and a half ago. I kept all the original packaging and stuff and came across what looks like a spare hammer spring? Anybody have any way to ID if it's a stock or lightened or extra power or whatever? No marks on the little baggy it came in or anything. Figured I would ask here since it's late and maybe get an answer before bugging the guys at CZC.
  7. I got my Shadow Custom from the good folks at CZC also. Great gun. Keep shooting it it just gets better and better. I shoot factory ammo exclusively and sometimes I can't believe how soft it shoots with certain brands of 124gr ammo. Mine has released the slide a few times when changing a mag, not many though. I'm curious now how common it is. Maybe I just need a little more oomph in my mag change.
  8. We shot this one today, I like it. Anybody know HHF for production? I went left to right, refill, left to right. In hindsight I am thinking maybe a different order would have worked better. Maybe t4,t5,t3,t2,t1 refill and repeat. Any tips on engagement order?
  9. Buttery soft looking ProTek2. Jealous!
  10. Thanks for the info Mustang. I figured that level 3 would be non existent for the SP-01's. The Blackhawks look really slim in the hood area. Wish I could find one that works similar. Thanks for the insight Mustang.
  11. I'm at my wits end here... This forum has never let me down, this question is slightly off topic but I've got nowhere else to turn to! My apologies if I've posted inappropriately... Level 3 duty holster for a SP-01? I'm looking for one similar to the SERPA rig from BlackHawk! with a slim hood design. I've found the bladetech option but the hood design seems bulkier to me. Are there any other level 3 holster options out there for the Shadow? Thanks
  12. SP-01... Longslide in .40 with huge mags and factory color finishes available... A guy can wish can't he??
  13. I'm not a gunsmith, but aren't the magazine dimensions different? Does the .40 mag fit in a 9mm magwell?? I don't think it does, but like I said, not a gunsmith.
  14. I wouldn't mind commercials if there were more like this one. Very nice. If videos like this actually ran on national tv, something tells me it could only help gun rights broaden from the point they have been pushed to in some states. Keep up the good work and make some more!
  15. Anybody got a pic of the W/S narrow .130 rear and .115 FO front on a G17? I ordered some from CPWSA and am hoping the gap is noticeably smaller.
  16. Pick a precise spot, like mentioned above. What I've tried lately is looking at the way the no shoot is aligned with the shoot target. I decide whether a vertical line or a horizontal line would be more helpful for a sight picture hold. Sort of like, if I get a sight picture past this point, dead no shoot. But I have to be on the ball with patience, visually, and not pull the trigger until I have the hold I desire.
  17. Welcome to the forums. The USPSA club I shoot at here in Vegas is Sin City Shooters. Lots of matches to choose from. I believe 2nd Sunday is 2 gun and fourth Saturday is 3 gun. You can get some contact info here ---> ISCOPE site The Match Director is Pete Rensing. The calendar on the site I linked above is pretty simple and carries over from month to month. Every weekend of the month you can do either 2gun, 3gun, USPSA Pistol or a combo of pistol and one other. Pretty cool. We shoot at Desert Sportsmans Rifle and Pistol Club. I have yet to enter the world of multigun but Pete and his guys run a sweet pistol match every time I've been. Challenging courses and always ran very well. PM me if you need directions or whatever to DSRPC. Gun up and come on out, it's never too hot to go blastin!
  18. I haven't cleaned my shadow in 1200 rounds. All dirty cheap ammo. I'm surprised you are having issues. 1000 or so isn't really that dirty. I mean it certainly isn't clean but.... I'd be willing to bet that the pistol was designed to go much much further than a mere 1000 rounds between cleanings. Isn't it a little odd to have both FTF and FTE malfs happening? I've seen pics posted here somewhere of an AWESOMELY FILTHY shadow. Yours has to have something other than just dirt causing malfs. Personally, I don't think I'll be cleaning mine anytime soon. I'd like to see it hit 3500. Then I'll shine her up.
  19. I shoot a SP-01 Shadow also. I run 5 Ghost360 pouches on a CRSpeed belt with a BladeTech DOH holster. 6 mags though, one in a back pocket, it's my make ready mag. My dad has some of the Racer pouches, not the spendy RaceMaster aluminum ones, I tried my CZ mags in them and they felt very nice. I am quite partial to my ghost pouches though. Hard to beat the price too.
  20. Oh man how I learned this the hard way this past weekend. Shoot!shoot!quick!hurry!!!! Bah! 18 out of 25. Sad thing is I know in my heart I have the ability to place better than that. It is very strange how the time just seems to stop sometimes while I'm doing what I'm supposed too... and it really winds up fast when I hurry.
  21. It's like hypnosis coming from those close hoser arrays... "don't aim at me! Just hoooooosssee meeee" I did get something good from it, which drills and skills I'll be working on in my next practice sessions. The not aiming part I can deal with, I haven't had a day off in 15 days so mentally I wasn't there 100%. I actually left the match and went back to work. Brain is a little mushy from skipping dry fire and a practice session for a week. Keeping the gun up is something new for me though. That has not been a problem for me before this match. I believe all these issues stem from my lack of rest. Just an all around lazy and lack of fundamentals kind of day for me. In the future I think I am going to skip the match when my mind and body aren't on the same page. Definitely more bad than good came from that match...
  22. Uggh. I can still recall many sight pictures from almost 6 weeks ago. Know how many I remember from today? Zero. Lots of close in, tight and short transitions. A really fun hoser day. But halfway through the fourth stage I realized that I was just looking across the gun and not actually paying attention to my sights. I did redeem a scrap of my pride on the last stage. However, I had issues with keeping my pistol up and ready. The close in stuff just has a way of making me not want to AIM. At least I nailed my reloads all day. Also hustled while moving, however my crap accuracy pretty much countered all that hustling...
  23. Yeah I am way out on the list. 145 is hopeless! I'm going to try and walk on... Early bird gets the worm!
  24. CHA-LEE, I see what you are getting at. Your saying that the RO moving a shooter from end of stage one to start position of stage two, while hot, isn't specifically addressed. Right? IMHO it is clearly addressed and there is no need to alter anything. Shooter finishes first COF. IYAFUASC. Hammer down. Holster. Range is clear. Clear the range for the next shooter. Make ready. Shooter ready? Standby. Beep. Bangbangbang. IFYAFUASC. Hammer down. Holster. Range is clear. Score and reset BOTH. Seems to me the rules don't want shooters moving from stage to stage while hot. Also seems that would be the safest method. So what exactly is this hole? I must be missing something....
  25. Wholeheartedly agree you are looking good for only third match. Seems like you can hit what you want and that is something many new shooters struggle with. The speed will come little by little if you are persistent. Also agree with the reload technique mentioned above. Pop that reload good. Then all attention on muzzle control/obstacle avoiding and moving to your next spot. I saw huge time gains from doing that every time I reload, and I didn't really go faster, so to speak, just makes moving more efficient really. If you scrub two seconds off each move and reload sequence, it adds up fast. After the reload sequence, I've been working on being ready to shoot as soon as I stop moving in the new location, having the gun up and ready before I get where I want to be. The cool thing is all this stuff doesn't focus on shooting faster, but doing all the other stuff more efficiently. I'm new too so my advice is pretty much passed on from better shooters at my club. It's good stuff though and works, amazingly well actually.
